I can attest to the CX not using auto correct. Most of the time it does the job in auto (any HDR for example) but I was playing through Arkham knight (SDR) only to realize auto setting is NOT correct. Therefore, he is correct in that you can’t really leave it on auto as I can match up the wrong settings unfortunately. Low and limited seems to be the way to go I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

But low & limited on cx & ps5 makes the screen darker but both on auto makes it lighter. 😆

For Oleds, you can use Standard. For Qled, you can use both specially RGB and it'll make the blacks not washed out while maintaining high peak brightness.

Heard the only reason one might want full range is HDR calibration. Technically, it's more accurate with full range since each "click" is identical on the RGB scale. While with limited range, they're all slightly different.
But it probably doesn't matter all that much in practice.

Allso..I HIGHLY recommend buying a t.v. that actually has a P.C. mode....has a natural softening effect an sharpness at the same time...then you can set R.G.B. range to Limited wich frees up performance in your system for more important things like framrate.

What about setting your tvs hdmi ports to be recognized as pc as well? I have my C1 set to pc, xbox rgb on standard and black level automatic on tv. This is the best combo I have used to date. Seemed to help with black crush a bit and still give a nice image. No dtm, using hgig. Bumped color to 60.

THANK YOU! Most clear explanation and I’ve been looking everywhere. ONE PROBLEM with mine. My tv has an auto option, and when i have both on auto my game still presents as if both was on full 🤷 So from I what I learned here I am now going to manually set both to limited whenever I play on my console for the ‘proper’ way? Full is for PC, limited for console correct? It does look better on limited, even though theres a slight loss of detail in the darkest areas, though looks more punchy. I am using a ps4 and a lg 4k uhd tv

The thing is there is no easy answer cause every tv and monitor is diffirent u have to be the judge. With my experience with my monitor if i put it on limited i get this foggy faded look, so i put it on full range and on my monitor settings turn black levels down a bit, contrast and color vibrance/saturation down a couple of notches that way the picture wont look super contrasty

    • @nosystemisperfect9954

Your not wrong but Monitors always use full range.
So if your using a monitor it should be set to full rgb.
Or on x box Pc rgb
The reason is because the monitors color range is slightly wider then a tvs. :).
      It is tricky tho :)

While this video didn't explain what I wanted, it confirmed I should be using full range. I'm using a 1440p PC monitor on my PS5 and for months it looked super washed out. Switching to full range did not crush my blacks and now looks far sharper and clear. I still have yet to find anyone talking about how to properly use a monitor with a PS5.

After i enable pc rgb on my xbox and tv the color was way better the black was actually sharp and clear without any bright pixelated fuzz. The only issue I have found is that when you enable Always on hdr it will darken the overall image and over saturate colors effectively creating a "fake hdr".
So the issue with this is that details get crushed or improperly displayed.

My cable is hdmi 2.1, tv supports 2.1 and when I play TH-cam or Twitch on the playstation i have RGB (HDR). The question is: WHY the F*** when i play a game, let’s say The last of us 2 and 1, i ALWAYS have YUV422? Why not RGB?

It is because Sony has capped the PS5 HDMI at 32gbs instead of the full 48gbs.
When the hdmi is capped like that you are limited to how much data can pass through.
However it only does it for games.
Why Sony did this still baffles me to this day.
Whenever you play a game with HDR it will inevitably downsample it to YUV422 due to that cap Sony have.
I know this probably isn’t the answer you wanted and I was hoping Sony would eventually patch that out but they still haven’t done so.
The one way to get around it is to set your console and tv both to full range so that it forces full range RGB and you will see HDR in RGB but I don’t recommend doing that as it won’t be an accurate picture.
Also check the full bandwidth of your hdmi ports.
Sometimes a tv says 2.1 but in actuality it’s not true 2.1 and you can’t get that full bandwidth even if the PlayStation wasn’t capped.
It’s a common problem because there is no HDMI 2.1 standard so any manufacturer can claim 2.1 but not have certain features of 2.1.
I hope this helps ya 🙂

    • @nosystemisperfect9954
      @nosystemisperfect9954  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

There are many different articles across the internet about this topic and also other and much larger TH-camrs then me that have talked about it.
To answer your question there is no sense in that however it sounds like you are setting your PS5 to automatic and letting the Ps5 choose your settings for you.
      Which is a bad idea.
Unless your tv has a proper “auto setting” and even then I’m hesitant to say to rely on it.
The PS5 is very bad at figuring out what the best settings are for the displays it is plugged into.
When I first plugged it into my tv it defaulted to full and right away I noticed my colors were off. Had I not made that change the “true black” of the Oled would have overshadowed everything.
In my experience and many others,
You should never use limited for a monitor or colors will be washed out and detail lost.
Monitors have always used a different range the TVs.
TVs typically use Limited range automatically but you can force the tv and the console into full.
The problem is that when you do that you lose some details often to slight amounts of black crush but a more punchy and vibrant picture due to colors being off and blacks being extremely dark.
There are of course debates all over the internet but as I said in my video and also when you do your research you will find that the proper settings are what I said.
That’s not to say you can’t disagree or dislike the settings though.
Do what looks best to your eyes and if you’re unsatisfied with the result then you can refer to this video or do some research and come up with your own preferred settings.
I can tell you all day long that these are proper settings but really it’s up to you to decide what is the proper settings for your own screen. :)

Because it is a PC monitor you should use Full Range Rgb on the PS5.
This is because the range of PCs is different from tvs.
Broadcasted tv or movies are mastered with limited range 16-255 in mind but on a computer the range is 0-255
16 being the darkest black on limited
0 being the darkest black on Pc.
Also a bonus tip: if you don’t have a 4k monitor then set the resolution to 1440p as the PS5 now supports it. :).
      Hope that helps :)

Hello,i know this is a little bit late but I bought a q70b Samsung QLED 55" TV here in Spain and I only have Auto,LOW and Normal in black level section. The thing is since my seriesX is in standard in color space for me both Auto and Low are the same black levels which are too dark for my taste since it's crushing black details and when I set the TV to normal black level my blacks have way more details and I am able to see faces and my pants colors in the dark in games again. I am pretty confuse why you mentioned putting the TV on LoW or Auto if seriesX it's on standard since for me it's exactly the opposite. My TV it's from 2022 finales and it's a pretty new TV and maybe the denominations fir AUTO, LOW AND NORMAL ARE NOT the same as you describe in the video. I hope you understand what I mean and I will gladly appreciate a response. Auto and Low are too dark, normal it's the best option for me,😳

Okay so I had to do a little bit of research to make sure my facts are straight since i use an Older Samsung model.
A couple of things to check.
First make sure Ambient Light sensor is turned off.
Make sure contrast enhancer is shut off as this will over brighten whites and darken the blacks.
Turn off "Motion lighting" as that will adjust light based on the motion of your game which will mess up rgb as well.
increase ST 2084 20 +3 in order to brighten the image
      Adjust color space to "Auto"
Turn game mode on to "auto"
Under game mode switch of "game motion plus"
Now the other reason why your blacks may be off or crushed is because the X box RGB is slightly over extended. X box does this to make their games look more "punchy"
However the correct values should be black level low on the tv and Standard on the x box.
I also recommend setting your color bit depth to 8 bit as your games will play in 8 bit unless they are hdr then the x box will automatically switch over.
if you set 10 bit then the x box will force 10 bit on 8 bit games which will affect your picture further.
For HDR make sure you are using HGIG as well. Adjust white level till the image disappears and then adjust the black to the lowest possible setting.
if none of this works or helps then ill try looking into it further. :)

@@nosystemisperfect9954 Okay, here I go after 1 month of testing my new Q70B Samsung with my seriesX. All about the ambient lighting and energy saving it's not worth to talk since I already have that off on my TV so here I go;. First of all from what I heard the Samsung TV'S don't work properly with HGiG ( maybe 2023 models from what I heard but not mine) since when I activate it in my games over bright the picture to the extreme (which i heard it means that even if I have Dynamic TM off on my TV the TV it's still tone mapping on top of HGIG wich results in double tone mapping...I know, crazy) so I only play on standard HDR which looks great. My clor dept it's 24bits per pixel (8-bit) and I have ycc 422 uncecked since supposedly my TV it's 2.1 HDMI but I find out sadly only after buying it it's only 100hz not 120 (8bits+ FRC) but I can still gaming at 120 fps trough VRR. To be honest I let it be at 60hz since it gives me problems in SDR content like TH-cam viewing etc since like I said it's not native 120hz only 100hz. With 60hz enabled and picture clarity settings with blurr reduction at 10 and judder at 4 I get an amazing experience without opera effect and picture clarity settings get rid of all color banding and flickering for me and now my TV runs amazing. Now talking about Gaming I always game on game mode (game motion plus off most of the time ,only using it in some titles like assassins Creed title for smother experience but only with it active without touching motion Blur or judder since it adds lag.... with motion blurr reduction and judder at 0 games looks a lot better in game mode and actually the input lag it's almost inexistent since it only goes down in my game bar fro FASTEST to FASTER and not way down to FAST). Now what's most important are the HDMI black levels which for me like I said in previous comment it's NORMAL, LOW, AUTO. MY SERIESX BEING IN STANDARD MODE IT NEEDS THE NORMAL BLACK LEVEL FOR WHEN I WHATCH SDR CONTENT LIKE TH-cam VIDEOS,ETC SINCE AUTO AND LOW HAVE CRUSHED BLACK LEVELS AND U CAN'T SEE DETAILS IN THE DARK EVEN THE IMAGE DOESN'T LOOK BAD AT ALL. ( also the contrasts enhancers are off both SDR and HDR for me since the image looks more natural too me) NOW THE QUESTION IS WHAT HDMI BLACK LEVEL TO USE FOR HDR GAMES SINCE RIGHT NOW ALL MY GAMES LOOK PRETTY GOOD WITH MY SETTINGS BUT I STILL DON'T KNOW WHY I HAVE TOO USE NORMAL HDMI BLACK LEVEL FOR MY SERIESX WHILE ON STANDARD COLOR SPACE AND NOT LOW OR AUTO LIKE ALMOST EVERY TH-cam VIDEO SAYS TO DO.? I know it's a letter and I am sorry but this is beyond stupid and Xbox/Sony and TV manufacturers should get their shit together and make things easier for the average people like us out there. Eagerly waiting for an opinion from you, thanks for everything.✌️

@@saadsaif821 No worries I'm happy to help.
So first off no automatic is more so for when your tv can detect resolutions. Usually 4k tv's have this ability built in.
The thing is that not all tv's can do this.
On older tv's or 1080p sets you need to set things manually or your results will be very mixed.
Setting your 1080p set to 720p may work but I would not reccomend it.
Although most games run at 720 they also use dynamic resolultion scaling. For example Mario Odyssey runs at 900p dynamically scaled.
Since 720p is what it runs in when undocked you wouldn't be getting any benefit for having it docked.
The text should not be effected by automatic but set it to 1080p and see what happens.
Also make sure you definately change your Rgb setting to Limited. That's very important as it can mess with your colors and black levels.

Srgb does not mean "full range rgb".
If you are going to use the PC Rgb setting on the X Box then you have to switch the Rgb setting or also known as "black level" to full or normal or high.
On tv's you should always use the Standard setting on the X Box and black level "low" or rgb "limited".
Srgb doesn't affect what your black levels do and is completely different from proper Rgb settings.
You can enable that for further colors accuracy but you still need to have the black level set to match the X Box.
      To recap.
Use "Standard" setting on the X Box and set Black Level to Low or Limited.
If you want to use Full Range at a cost of losing some of the detail then set the following...
Use PC Rgb setting on the X Box and set Black level to Normal or High or "Full Range"
You must make sure black level match on both.
Otherwise your blacks will be crushed and your overall detail won't be as good.
      Cheers 🙂

Awesome. What if Im using pc mode on a Samsung oled while using game consoles?

    • @nosystemisperfect9954
      @nosystemisperfect9954  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Two things you need to know.
First is that PC mode automatically converts all signals to 4:4:4 chroma.
This is good if you are playing in SDR but it doesn’t do any favors to HDR.
You can still should be able set limited range properly on PC Mode but as soon as you change to PC your settings will reset and you will need to change everything back over. You can also enable game profile under PC mode. It’s worth noting however that with Samsung it may require you to change it to full range to match as Samsung does tend to set things very particularly. For example sometimes when you set certain modes Samsung will grey out certain settings forcing you to pick the ones it seems are necessary and not by your choice.
Although PC mode is preferred by many gamers it is not necessary to turn on unless using a PC as it has no real benefit to your console gaming and comes with the slight drawback of not playing nice with videos or hdr properly.
What I do know about PC mode is it turns off any and all processing including up scaling and everything will seem blander and darker.
In my experience PC mode doesn’t add anything but then again I’m basing this on LG and not Samsung.
I am sure though that the answer is very similar.
      I hope that helped 🙂

    • @nosystemisperfect9954
      @nosystemisperfect9954  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

The rgb range of a tv is not dependent on the resolution or if it is HD.
RGB range is based on how the tv colors are programmed and handled.
As I said in my review you can do full range but it needs to match and you will lose details because TVs are typically programmed with limited range in mind.
On some TVs having full range even gets rid of HDR so the system switches back to limited even though your tv is set to full and causes black crush.
If the tv supports Full range whether it’s hd or not you can use it but there are some drawbacks.
      1. Some details will be lost. Not much but if you look for it you will see it.
      2. Movies or Netflix doesn’t use full range so you can use need to switch back to limited regardless unless your tv has the “auto feature” and I find that to be unreliable.
      3. HDR doesn’t usually like to use full range. If your on a PlayStation it will down convert because it only supports HDR over certain formats.
      That being said.
If you set your tv and console to full then you may not notice a difference and if all you do is play games then you won’t care.
However I personally don’t recommend that.
      And
If you have a mismatch of Signals your shadows and blacks will be crushed eliminating detail or making things look washed out so be careful.
Of course if you can find documentation or proof that what you’re saying is correct then I will change my stance happily.
After all no system is perfect and that includes my knowledge and brain 🙂

    • @nosystemisperfect9954
      @nosystemisperfect9954  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It depends on the tv but honestly setting things to both Auto on the tv and Auto on the PlayStation or X box I find gives mixed results.
If your tv communicates properly with your device then that's great but it more then often does not despite that being the most ideal.
      For example.
On my LG B9 I set my input to PC and turned on Auto and then Auto on my PS5.
What ended up happening was a image that was not as clear.
Went back in and set both to Limited and the image cleared up to the way it was supposed to look.
My tv is a 2019 tv but allot of tv's even after that do the same.
The only TV I have personally heard of getting around it is the LG C1 and CX but since I haven't tested either I can't clarify either way.
You can certainly try setting both to Auto but our tv's are mastered with limited range in mind.
Honestly it's more complicated then that but think of it this way.
Both signals have to match regardless.
And so if you want Full Range rgb then you need to make sure your tv matches that signal.
The problem is that your Blu Ray's or Apps don't use Full Range and so whenever you need to watch a movie you have to switch it back all. Over again which is a pain.
Experiment with your tv though and see what works and doesn't work.
You will be able to tell pretty fast if you use a game such as Guardians OF the Galaxy for a nice Black level.
If the hdr and color looks washed out then the Auto setting isn't working properly. 🙂

@@gamestream2k983 HGIG is technically the more accurate choice however it is much darker in nature.
If you fiddle with both though you will realize that DTM will over brighten the image and end up crushing Shadow detail as a result.
That being said most games don't support HGIG technically
So you make a choice of Image accuracy(hgig) or Punchy bright and saturated (Dtm) .
However if we look at it from a technical perspective....
Your Playstation or X Box will already be doing HDR tone mapping so when you enable DTM your actually tone mapping things twice over.
Your tv tone maps and your console does when DTM is turned on which is more processing the necessary.
When you shut off Tone Mapping the Console of choice will do all the heavy lifting but I find that the resulting image is innacuruate and bad as the console is over working itself.
HGIG will darken the look of the overall screen but it will be the most accurate in terms of highlights and details and it turns off all extra processing and does not double tone map instead enhancing the image of the games that support it.
There is no right answer as it is a personal preference thing 🙂
