Manual Video controls in a water resistant body.. Man.. this thing is the jam iv been waiting for.. iv got to hand it to LG for giving in to consumer preferences! and btw... them corners are Lit!!!
I know you posted this a year ago, but this phone is still the shit! I just got my second one, on its way. I wanted the G7 but I missed the sale, so I'm perfectly fine getting another new G6! I LOVE IT STILL! Oh I'm replying cuz you mentioned manual video rec, man, if you have the G6, you HAVE to try this video mode, it's like Imax! : go to manual video mode, switch to wide angle lens, switch to ultra wide 21 by 9 super wide angle in settings, in it you can STILL have 60FPS enabled!!! Ajust the colors as you wish, and try filming.... you'll be amazed, and everyone will have hard time believing you did this without cropping the video and that you did it on a phone!!! It's amaaaazinggg, esp for like filming the beach and waves, outdoors stuff... Cheers, sorry for long reply!
@@skyMcWeeds I just realised how mad some settings are, like 21 BY 9 aspect ratio filming with wide angle lens @60FPS, it's like a panorama video, or ultra video Imax. Amaaazing, no other phone to DATE is capable of this.
@뇌인간의 no it isn't have you updated your phone? And have you taken full advantages the 821 in no means laggy its snappy and out performs some phones with a Snapdragon 835 you probably haven't seen the lg g6's performance its 10/10
Danny, I knew you'd mention the manual focus on video!!! I was totally bummed when it wasn't on the g5. Plus, that 13mp dual lens camera will also be totally awesome. Huge jump in the battery power by 500MAH. Love the rounded edges! Love the aspect ratio. The design is gorgeous. I've used the swappable battery in the past but not really needed on my video projects. So the extra power should see me through easily. The new processor should be more efficient than last year's anyway. My make this my 3rd LG in a row. I was pretty confident I might go for the s8 plus especially if it has stylus capabilities like the new range of tablets. That would make it a difficult choice then.
I got the G6 a few months back and I'm loving it. I used to have the G3 for about a year and a half until it starting "breaking". What I mean is the screen most of the time became totally unresponsive having me taking the battery out which was a pain in the ass. Hopefully I don't have the same problem with the G6 in the near future.
I actually have an app installed on my tablet that makes the edges rounded. I think it looks cool. And with that thin bezel I think they made a good choice.
Excellent review as always, Danny! It looks like a great phone. I won't be leaving the v20 though since they left out the ir blaster and removable battery. Uhhhg it's always something.
Initially people thought IR blaster was useless. Same with large screen when Samsung introduces the Note series. Trust me its a great feature. Let me give one example. I own an Orbitsound bar. I CANNOT find the remote control because its so small. Anyway, I downloaded a universal remote App from Playstore and now can switch it ON and OFF, adjust the Bass, Treble, Volume and Bluetooth. Without my Note 3, I am finished as how do adjust that. IR blaster is a must when you loose your remote!
texasaggie1 ....I have a g5 right now. I was thinking about the v20. Is it worth the upgrade to that? Would I enjoy the v20 more than the g5? Thanks for your help
Larry Graves LGV20 is a great phone. With its metal removable back it has longevity. You can get for £380, (eBay)) which is a great deal. Wait until LGV30 comes out and see if the price may fall even further. 😀👌
I think that the rounded corners are beautiful. On my Huawei Mate 9 I have the app Cornerfly and that makes my phone a bit more my style. In the G6 already in build in is a huge bonus.
Nice review Danny. I prefer the rounded corners, because it would cushion the impact if dropped as the curvature improves the surface area! Rounded corners are also softer in the pocket and hurt less unlike the Sony Xperia ZX! Two flaws on LGG6: They remove the IR Blaster. Shame that. I have it on my old Note 3 and sometimes switch the TV off as my daughter runs away but the phone is with me! Only 32Gb ROM. 64Gb should be the norm in 2017 for internal storage! Otherwise a great phone. Any idea of the pricing? Please can you do a sound review.
i think the rounded edges of the screen is fine, it reminds me on the palm pre phone before, i like the form factor of this phone not so big but the screen is awesome :)
I guess the phone makers go with the flow. They do what outher phone makers are doing, not whay the customers want. Why did they remove the IR blaster ? My note 5 is supposed to be better but my mega 6.3 had it and I could turn on and off a lot of things.
Danny, there is an option to enable "app drawer". I saw a review of the G6 where they did it. you have to long press on an empty space on the home screen and change the launcher. I think it was the bottom most launcher already on the g6. Let me know if they correct. by the way, how's battery life with heavy use?
hi, just curious would you prefer the black color or the grey one. i naturally prefer the black color because it looks nicer but like you mentioned because of the fingerprints, would grey be better? I am still getting a case, but which looks better?
The default settings dont have app drawer you need to press and hold on an empty space on the home screen press the gear on the bottom then press home screen at the top and select app drawer
LG listens, camera bump gone. That was the reason I didn't get the lg g5 it was a bit ugly. Still using g3 now and my only issue with it is the battery. This would be a good upgrade but can I afford it?
I'm even a bit OCD and those curved screen corners don't phase me at all. The thing I do notice is the back edges of the phone are a bit sharp and not exactly ergonomic.
yes u r right...curve edges don't look good..and also..not really a wide angle.. because on v20 and G5 wide angle lens is 135° and here it is 125° similarly on front its 100° instead of 120° as on previous phones from lg.. Which is not so good..but over phone is great..
It looks like a solid device and even so will have 835,if Samsung doesn't do as they did with previous galaxy series in ram management..G6 would win easily..i love it
The rounded display wastes screen space, and makes the added width useless for full screen content as content will bet cut off in the corners, or you wil have to artificially make the display smaller by adding letterboxing and pillar bars.
Phone design isn't a feature, they removed a feature called ir blaster that powered tv's an ac units. They don't have super amoled display so their screens will use up more battery than galaxy s phones. that round displey looks awesome

totally the manual video controls is what i loved about the V series!

The round Corners make the phone look mesmerizing. It looks like the display is naturally powered. lol im viewing this through an Lg G4
The display is awesome with the round edge 👌

2019 it's still a fantastic phone! Even cheaper now
The round display doesn't really make a difference, but it is there for durability reasons

Really digging the display. Dolby vision/HDR = 👌
Great review on the video features. Looking forward to additional reviews.
this is my next, Astro black, love everything about it, nice, very nice. 👍
Another brilliant initial impression review by my buddy +Danny Winget
I love the display. Impressed they went with 5.7 inch. Love the bumpless camera. you don't have to worry about it breaking.
finally they fix a lot of issues on the G6 and very happy that they did that and now I'm buying it I love the camera it's perfect
screen look unique..the rounded corners are a nice touch! quad dac and ir blaster would make this phone perfect!
whoa nice phone..... really nice corners.....I like it.... nice presentation by you.... awesome work....
Just Incredible Smartphone. Really appreciate for the cool review. Wish I could have ever been able to use it 🤔
Good video Danny, you did a great job covering most of the cool stuffs. But Samsung S8+ will be little more surprise.
4:33 idk if you guys noticed the home button animation from the Pixel, but that's lit!
I'm REALLY liking this phone!! 🙂
I actually have an app installed on my tablet that makes the edges rounded. I think it looks cool. And with that thin bezel I think they made a good choice.
Great video Danny!

Not sure if he mention this, but the bask camera and touch iD is flat with the phone! looks lovely

What do you do with all the phones and other tech after your reviewing? This just crossed my mind.
Got my g-6 two weeks ago for my first Android phone for $300 and I'm loving it specially for that price. 😄
I love the curved corners on the screen on the g6
Such a good video! Can't wait to try this phone out!
+Stephanie Carls thanks 🙏
Danny Winget always welcome!!
i think the rounded edges of the screen is fine, it reminds me on the palm pre phone before, i like the form factor of this phone not so big but the screen is awesome :)
it just bugs me how those corners aren't perfectly rounded. They have rough edges right before the curve ends.
the transition between the cameras when zooming in or out was much smoother and better in iPhone 7+.
not that I am gonna get either of them
Looks good, what happened to phones having full front facing speakers. I guess I'm spoiled with my Nexus 6. Would love to see this in a new flagship!
I guess the phone makers go with the flow. They do what outher phone makers are doing, not whay the customers want. Why did they remove the IR blaster ? My note 5 is supposed to be better but my mega 6.3 had it and I could turn on and off a lot of things.
u can easily change it to app drawer
The curved display looks great, what I do not like is the pillarboxed image. I hope there will be a way to this problem.

I want that kind of display in upcoming phones, that round edges are cool.
Lambha Khongphai they are totally not. and not usefull. movies with round corners? photos with round corners, what the fuck no
I think the rounded corners in the screen makes sense considering the rounded screens of the phone itself.
hi, just curious would you prefer the black color or the grey one.
i naturally prefer the black color because it looks nicer but like you mentioned because of the fingerprints, would grey be better? I am still getting a case, but which looks better?
nice video. the corners are a little bit distracting

There is an app drawer option.
Settings - Display - Home Screen - Select Home - Home & App Drawer
I am concerned the IPS will have backlight bleed in dark conditions. Have you had this experience?
LG listens, camera bump gone. That was the reason I didn't get the lg g5 it was a bit ugly. Still using g3 now and my only issue with it is the battery. This would be a good upgrade but can I afford it?
Raven Rhyme now u can
I'm even a bit OCD and those curved screen corners don't phase me at all. The thing I do notice is the back edges of the phone are a bit sharp and not exactly ergonomic.
Kudos to LG for adopting Google's assistant, instead of fragmenting this feature (Bixby on the upcoming S8)
u can enable app drawer in settings
Love most of LG G6 features except it was not built with full metal body. Waiting for full review.
nice job
Could you set 18:9 to 60 frames on Manuel video mode?
i saw the live stream i looks so cool
there is an app drawer option in settings
I personally don't like the round Conners on the screen. It would look so much nicer with square conners. Some things are meant to stay conventional.
I wish the curved corners of the screen were a little more subtle because it does look weird.
did you look for the app drawer software in LG apps?
corners look cool
square camera is not available when you activate the App drawer.
Looks nice BUT 32gb?? Really? It should've been 64gb and up hope they'll have it unlocked
Leonardo Jarvis but it has the option for the SD card. So it's irrelevant.
@@vortexfx420 the lack of apps being able to be moved to the sdcard super sucks.
Man,,, the last pic of screen,,, super.
sub box not working. We got you bro!
There would be two black bars on the side when watching 16:9 content ( Which is the most common) right? Why are new manufacturer doing this?!
Watching on my G6
LG has done good job this time
yes u r right...curve edges don't look good..and also..not really a wide angle.. because on v20 and G5 wide angle lens is 135° and here it is 125° similarly on front its 100° instead of 120° as on previous phones from lg.. Which is not so good..but over phone is great..

boku yow false super amoled screens use more battery
boku yow amoled screen suffers burn in
Wheres the bootloop feature?
Best one!
Can you put a micro SIM card in it
How big is the screen
Will the s8 perform much better with its Snapdragon 835?
Klefky most probably
No removable battery is the deal breaker
SupaEMT134 nobody needs removable battery except you i think
SupaEMT134 Not many choices left for you
corner of display is too round, but a phone with narrow bezels it is necessary to look cool
thoroughly disappointed that they got rid of the IR blaster...
Sup Master Winget
I love my corners
I love Danny's chubby hands
app drawer is there
For a larged display device it has a small form factor. LG going crazy trimming the chin and forehead, the side bezels is okay enough.
This a great phone
i prefer amoled than ips display
it doesn't look strange, it's to big phone, 5.2 inches would be perfect, or LG could make also compact version with same specs with 5 inch screen.
only 700 views ?
The rounded corners gives professional aspect and a natural look. Square corners are too sharp and ugly to watch
Will G6 have the same problem as the old G2 does? which is, the dreaded dead touch screen on the top and the bottom part of the screen.
A major elctronic device and all the comments are about how shiny it is and the rounded corners. Crap.
The display isn't as good as my s6.
