I started my WIP back in May, and it currently stands at 91,701 words. But I've written *24,406* words of that in the last *_ten days!_* I'm under no legal obligation to finish anything. I'm focused on self-publishing, and have no one to answer to except my creditors and my bladder. But I'd really like to wrap up this first draft before New Years. After spending all of October trying to get out the vote (here in the USA), then the first two weeks of November pondering if the _Killer Asteroid 2024_ people were on to something, that voice in the back of my head finally went, "If you're going to finish the first draft of this book by New Years, you better commit now." So... I have been. Still have roughly 30,000 words left to write, if my outline holds. It's going to be a sprint to the finish line. But if I can retain this focus through the end of this month and into December, I might actually pull this off.
@@WilliamGallagher How about an internet handshake contract? I'll agree to leave a comment on the subject, on your channel, sometime before the end of this year. If I complete my first draft, you owe me a reply saying "good job", or whatever form of congratulations you'd normally offer in that situation. If I leave a comment saying I *didn't* or *won't be able to* finish the draft, or _don't leave such a comment at all,_ you'll have no preconditions on a reply. Insult me. Give me a stern lecture about the nature of the publishing industry. Let silence do the talking. The choice is yours. In return, I'll agree to remain subscribed to this channel, _like_ your videos, and leave constructive, amusing, and/or in some way positive comments on future videos... if the topic of the video is something I'm in some way familiar or curious about.
@@Matthew_Malenich I feel I get the better of this deal, but you're on. (Re-reads closely in case I've missed something....) Now, get writing. Okay? Now. No, now.
Inspirational, instructive, and validating, as always, good sir! The change of scene aspect with plopping text into different software and/or upon a different device is such brilliant way to reorient yourself on work, especially when struggling through tougher passages. Such a beautiful fellowship of the writers here, bravo to you for leading the way, and bravo to all those plugging away (or taking the day off), much appreciated as always!
Hi William, I’m about to get my first iMac, I only want to use it for writing, and possibly one AAA game. In your opinion is 256GB enough or should I cough up the extra £200 to upgrade to 512GB? I’m on a budget, but want to get this right. Thanks
If you can possibly do it, 512GB is much better, much. I should say that I know nothing about games, I’m just not a gamer, but do check that the one you want is on the Mac. I understand many aren’t. Also, if you do get an iMac, would you let me know what colour? I am envious of iMacs generally but also the colour.

What if I said you have me to answer to? I can't decide if that's useful or just my being overly grand and self-important.

Goodness, that’s very kind of you to say. Thank you.
Brilliant, thank you.
Thanks.
Thank you
Thanks.
🤣 thanks for the day off! I'm baking pies today!
Pies? You can bake and you're baking pies? Instead of CHOCOLATE CAKE? Get back to writing this moment. Sheesh.
I am never writing enough Wil. I have something gestating though. That's okay isn't it?
Ye-ess.
This was fun...I think sometimes when I have a no writing day is when I get my best writing ideas. You also?
Yes! Also while I'm driving, though that's a bit un-green of me.
