met him after his ''Stained Radiance'' show at Eddie's Attic w Norton. A wonderful gent, and he absolutely slays the guitar. That particular show changed my life. I've seen him w Wilco several times, and he never disappoints. I get a lot of inspiration from Nels, he's a Wizard.
From memory it’s a partscaster. The body is a 58 or early 59. Forget the neck specs. Duncan Antiquity 1 pickups, 250k pots, mastery hardware. It’s his main guitar for his solo stuff these days. It lives with him in NYC whereas the Watt JM stays with the Wilco gear.
Nels is a true legend. His recent "Share The Wealth" album was so adventurous. I hope Wilco get back to showcasing more of his wizardry on record in future. Wilco's last few albums have been pretty dull affairs where his guitar pyrotechnics have been sidelined.
Nels adds so much texture and atmosphere to Wilco’s music, not just blistering guitar solos. He hasn’t been ignored in the recent albums and they’re far from dull. I think Nels really values being part of an artistic and creative ensemble rather than being the guitar slinging center of attention.
The presenter should have put down his foot. The only think I could see at the opening is the bottom his shoe. And the camera showed Nels' face out of focus for much of the interview. Apart from that, I can't get enough of Nels' music and wisdom. A true innovator like very very few.

This is awesome! I'm always amazed with with my guitar hero, Nels Cline
Nels is one of the greats - a true visionary on the instrument. Thank you for this interview and the entire Richmond Sessions series!
I'm obsessed with Impossible Germany and this is amazing to watch and listen to.
Nels Cline describing one of the greatest guitar solos of all time as "and then I played a bunch of stuff" is absolutely amazing
Impossible Germany is to me the main reason I pay for the ticket. It is a perfect song. Impossible not to play on a show:)
The Jazz Free disc with Nels, Henry Kaiser, Weasel Walter, etc is fantastic. Really one of the best albums any of them have ever made.
DAMN I was waiting for him to talk about the JM he's playing and they cut it out!

The one and only
I’m hosting Nels Cline 5/30/24 in Palo Alto but also Mark Lettieri 5/24/24 and looking forward to the comparison
My Guitar god.

Share the Wealth is some of the best music I’ve heard in recent years. Amazing.
I found the two last albums were really interesting. Wilco is a band, it's not only about one member or even jeff !

Clicked on this thinking “session” meant he was going to play music. I have no problem with interviews. How about labeling them INTERVIEWS

I bought the Stained Radiance dvd back then. ❤️🩹
