I had no idea how much this happens until recently running across a random video of a young girl who had been catfished for almost 2 years by a girl at her school. I can’t understand how someone could go to such lengths to make so many lies up. You have a good heart that’s why she was able to do this to you. Don’t let her make you throw a wall up. You should definitely be cautious but don’t let her issues become issues for you. There are many reasons that someone may do something like that but none that are worth you carrying the weight of her burden too. You deserve so much better and I hope it happens sooner than later.

If I had to guess, I would think it would have most likely been one of the uni students that stayed in that house previously. No one outside of other people living on that street would be that familiar with all of the people who lived there so as to give you such accurate descriptions, as well as the dog. I don't know you but it's easy to see what a compassionate, caring, kind person you are just in how you handled this situation. I'm glad you finally had a breaking point so as to say enough is enough; some people let their emotions win every time and keep forgiving them because they are so "in love" and they only fall harder and hurt deeper when the truth comes out. Met people online myself, one of which I ended up in a relationship with for a year. We skyped so I knew what to expect but he still lied about a lot of things. I think people are never really sure whether it will go that far and so telling a few lies doesnt seem so harmful. Happy hunting in the future though! :D

Just viewing your video now though your experience happened a bit ago. I too have been there but affected me financially hard. I know of the lie after lie and excuse with such convincing excuses after. Mentally it hurts and we loose trust. It breaks us a down chipping away at our belief and hopes in possibilities of of a “WOW”, “where have you been”, “we connect “ etc. etc. We continue, though we know, deep down, it’s all false. But.... it can’t be true. Naive to the thought...we give benefits to our doubts. So we hurt ourselves more... feeding the fish. Then, like a static shock, only a kadrillion times more painful, we finally realize we’ve been had. WTF! Why? It’s been a few months now that this has happened to me but the sting is strong still. I’m reluctantly still on Tinder and I’ve been able to rid , 4 catfish scammers just in april alone! I too know what to look for now. They always seem to use our military and very little to no family members as excuses and always cannot voice call or video chat because of encryption’s on their phones! Ha! I’ve done the research for the right answers before I ask at this point! Question.... does that make me crazy? Answer... no ... better prepared for their bs! Lol. Anyway, I found your story, while self isolating during this trying time, moving and compelled to say that you’re not alone. Again that was a bit ago for you and hopes that you have found someone special by now because you have such a forgiving and warm heart that only the mirrored image would make you smile the most! 🤗. I'm so sorry this happened to you, man. If it means anything I met my best friend on Facebook and she lives about 600km away and is the best friend I've ever had :) I still don't trust most people but she restored my faith in humanity quite a bit. There is still some hope.
This sort of thing has never happened to me, reason being I have always thought this would happen to me so I decided I wouldn't meet anyone from online. However there has been a few cases where I have been speaking to people and really dig their personality and all that, but I just decided not to go there. Who knows, it could have been a great decision or a bad decision not to!
Yo bro, I know the feeling. I met a girl online her name was Ashley, she was everything I could want. We ended up texting mostly, spoke to her once and on the verge of falling in love. She sent me a picture of herself holding a post it with my name on it with the date to prove she was real and not a catfish.The first time we tried to meet she gave me an excuse that she had to go to the hospital. She kept asking for money because she had roommate problems then car problems then rent problems. I gave her a total of 13k USD. I wanted to give to her to show her that I cared and to make her understand I’m a provider. The last time we spoke she was getting ready for our date and whoosh. She vanished. No call no anything. Now there’s a hole in my wallet and in my heart. I’ve learned a valuable lesson but the fault is all mine. As a man I’m responsible for my actions and to ignore red flags is my own doing. The money I can make up, but the experience will last forever.

At 68, I'm learning all these terms that younger people use. Catfishing is new to me, so I've listened to a few people relating their experiences. It's so wrong on so many levels, I just don't understand why?!?! Why play with someone's emotions and waste their time? Must be a mental issue for sure. Kudos to your mom, I would have done the same for my son. But take heart, you're an attractive and intelligent young man, and I'm sure you'll find that 'right' girl for real. My advice to all young people who are looking to date....try meeting people who are into what you like, take a class or an activity that you love, and the people who are there, will at least have the same interest. It's ridiculous to be fair, you honestly don't see it coming and that's what I want to know. I think some people do it because they feel lonely and believe that the 'social' media life they live is the best that they can do and will never be able to experience something real. That and they probably have a lot going on themselves mentally. I've done a reverse image search along with trying a few other tactics and nothing came up unfortunately so my catfish may have been quite experienced. The only solid closure I would get would be if she were to come forward and admit it to me and even apologise in person but I really doubt that will happen, I'm afraid to say. :(

That's so sad and heartbreaking, you are a such a nice and genuine guy and no one deserves to be cat fished especially like that 💕 I had a girl in my year who got catfished on Facebook by one of the boys in my year, she sent nude photos of herself and other inappropriate stuff, it was so bad to the point where the guy convinced her that if they both kill themselves they can be together. She later found out who had been catfishing her and they both ended up in trouble with the police for child pornography and some other stuff.

This person had to be very selfish to play with other people’s emotions ....all I can say is you’re a trusting guy and will meet a nice girl when it’s meant to be. I don’t believe in retaliation, but I do believe in karma. In one part when you said I was stupid for believing her .....you were not stupid, but the total opposite smart, trusting, caring and kind.

Met people online myself, one of which I ended up in a relationship with for a year. We skyped so I knew what to expect but he still lied about a lot of things. I think people are never really sure whether it will go that far and so telling a few lies doesnt seem so harmful.

Just viewing your video now though your experience happened a bit ago. I too have been there but affected me financially hard. I know of the lie after lie and excuse with such convincing excuses after. Mentally it hurts and we loose trust. It breaks us a down chipping away at our belief and hopes in possibilities of of a “WOW”, “where have you been”, “we connect “ etc. etc. We continue, though we know, deep down, it’s all false. But.... it can’t be true. Naive to the thought...we give benefits to our doubts. So we hurt ourselves more... feeding the fish. Then, like a static shock, only a kadrillion times more painful, we finally realize we’ve been had. WTF! Why? It’s been a few months now that this has happened to me but the sting is strong still. I’m reluctantly still on Tinder and I’ve been able to rid , 4 catfish scammers just in april alone! I too know what to look for now. They always seem to use our military and very little to no family members as excuses and always cannot voice call or video chat because of encryption’s on their phones! Ha! I’ve done the research for the right answers before I ask at this point! Question.... does that make me crazy? Answer... no ... better prepared for their bs! Lol. Anyway, I found your story, while self isolating during this trying time, moving and compelled to say that you’re not alone. Again that was a bit ago for you and hopes that you have found someone special by now because you have such a forgiving and warm heart that only the mirrored image would make you smile the most! 🤗. This sort of thing has never happened to me, reason being I have always thought this would happen to me so I decided I wouldn't meet anyone from online. However there has been a few cases where I have been speaking to people and really dig their personality and all that, but I just decided not to go there. Who knows, it could have been a great decision or a bad decision not to!

Yo bro, I know the feeling. I met a girl online her name was Ashley, she was everything I could want. We ended up texting mostly, spoke to her once and on the verge of falling in love. She sent me a picture of herself holding a post it with my name on it with the date to prove she was real and not a catfish.The first time we tried to meet she gave me an excuse that she had to go to the hospital. She kept asking for money because she had roommate problems then car problems then rent problems. I gave her a total of 13k USD. I wanted to give to her to show her that I cared and to make her understand I’m a provider. The last time we spoke she was getting ready for our date and whoosh. She vanished. No call no anything. Now there’s a hole in my wallet and in my heart. I’ve learned a valuable lesson but the fault is all mine. As a man I’m responsible for my actions and to ignore red flags is my own doing. The money I can make up, but the experience will last forever.

At 68, I'm learning all these terms that younger people use. Catfishing is new to me, so I've listened to a few people relating their experiences. It's so wrong on so many levels, I just don't understand why?!?! Why play with someone's emotions and waste their time? Must be a mental issue for sure. Kudos to your mom, I would have done the same for my son. But take heart, you're an attractive and intelligent young man, and I'm sure you'll find that 'right' girl for real. My advice to all young people who are looking to date....try meeting people who are into what you like, take a class or an activity that you love, and the people who are there, will at least have the same interest. So awful how this can happen to regular people, i honestly just don't understand what the catfish gets out of it? Have you ever tried searching the pictures online to see if there's any matches or digging around a little bit? I know it's hard but it might help you get some sort of closure?
It's ridiculous to be fair, you honestly don't see it coming and that's what I want to know. I think some people do it because they feel lonely and believe that the 'social' media life they live is the best that they can do and will never be able to experience something real. That and they probably have a lot going on themselves mentally. I've done a reverse image search along with trying a few other tactics and nothing came up unfortunately so my catfish may have been quite experienced. The only solid closure I would get would be if she were to come forward and admit it to me and even apologise in person but I really doubt that will happen, I'm afraid to say. :(

I had a girl in my year who got catfished on Facebook by one of the boys in my year, she sent nude photos of herself and other inappropriate stuff, it was so bad to the point where the guy convinced her that if they both kill themselves they can be together. She later found out who had been catfishing her and they both ended up in trouble with the police for child pornography and some other stuff.

It's honestly so crazy how one person can influence your mindset, I was so drawn into it and I'm so sorry to hear that the girl in your year got so drawn in to the point where she was almost convinced that if they killed themselves, they could be together!
