- I went out for a ride today. As usual I followed one of my pre-plotted routes. Towards the end, I was enjoying myself and didn't want to head home.
So I turned down a road I'd not been down before. I noticed motorbike tracks at the beginning of the lane so figured it had obviously been ridden before...
Anyway, I rode the lane and after a short while met a man with a dog. He didn't seem too happy to see a motorbike, and explained that the lane I had ridden was not a legal byway.
I was polite, I apologised. He seemed happy enough to forgive, and I left with no ill will.
Morale of the story? Sometimes you will take a wrong turn, you will ride a non-legal lane. Just be polite, apologise, make a mental note not to ride that way again! :)
