I’m a mechanic. I work at Lexus. We work mostly on Lexus’ but we do get all sorts of other cars, including beemers and benz’. I can assure you that Lexus cars are much better than those other luxury cars. We are so used to Lexus and how easy they are to fix in comparison to BMW and MB. For example, to do an align for a Lexus, you just have to input what car you’re aligning, you prop it up, hit your points for adjustments and done deal. Bmw and MB, a whole different ball game. You have to put weights on the car before you start, you have to load and unload the suspension, it’s just a nightmare. When we see BMW’s, Mercedes’, land rovers, etc, we just wanna run away. Lol. But for anyone who bought a Lexus, you’re in good hands. You have a Toyota car. It’ll last you forever. We get grandfathers in all the time. 250k 300k and more. I don’t see that with other cars. And if you’re thinking of buying a luxury car, please run away from the other ones. You’ll get a much better car in a Lexus.

Yeah got a 08 bmw 325i touring with a N52b25 engine and it's done 221k had it since 209k grant found out the history a few months ago as it's had it pretty rough but had timing issue a vaccum leak but other than that very reliable just needs more part made of metal than plastic. But looking at a Lexus is350 or gs430 test driven them and fell in love even over my bmw and that's saying something

So the issue is that performance and reliability are a balance you try to make. More performance. Less reliable. And vice versa. I will say that BMW’s are much better in terms of performance. They’re really pushing the envelope in terms of performance. And they take Lexus Every time. But as far as reliable? Lexus and Toyota all day. But still BMW’s aren’t bad cars. They just need a bit more care and make sure your pockets are heavy enough to deal with them. Good luck to you mate.

No issues covered or not covered by warranty, no leaks, squeaks or clunks. No loss of power, no window, door, boot or hood issues. Literally nothing other than servicing. I bought a 2010 Lexus IS250 a few years ago with 70,000km and it now has 155,000km. It is an extremely reliable car but they do have that carbon build up issue. Luckily for me I know how to work on cars and I just took the intake manifold off, used Liqui moly decarb cleaner and picked off all the carbon with a hook & pick set until the valves were clean and put it back together. I then added an oil catch can and she's loving life again. It was easy and only took me a weekend. If your not that way inclined or you don't want to spend about a grand to have the valves cleaned then I wouldn't buy a 250. The IS350 doesn't have that problem as it is direct and port injection.

But with Lexus you’re getting a car that you know will last you 250k miles and more with just doing your basic maintenance. Oil change and such. Enjoy the car!!! It’s people like me that love being under the hood of these cars so you guys can enjoy them every day. And I take real pride in my work.

@@frankyjas5184 Toyota's strategy across their entire range is to deliberately overbuild and undertune their products. People complain about how weak the Landcruiser and Yaris GR are compared to its competitors, but because the powertrain is so gentle to the countless moving parts under the bonnet it lasts for hundreds of thousands of kms instead of it being a mechanical writeoff at 150k kms despite being serviced as per the logbook.

Another great video and CONGRATS on the Cars24 Sponsor! Definitely means you guys are doing something right. 🙂
I bought my 2016 IS350 FSport RWD in July 2019 with 25K miles on it. It's my 4th Lexus and is freaking amazing. The car is a great daily driver of course, but last week I took it on a 5 hour drive and this is a cruising machine. The FSport seats were amazing, a little short in the thigh dept after awhile, but still very comfortable. In normal mode I got 28mpg on Premium gas. For comparison, I normally get 17mpg around town because it's driven solely in Sport+ and Manual mode. Oh this car will wear out some tail. ;-)
My personal negatives about the car...
First - The cupholder placement drives me batsh*t crazy! They are too far back and the passenger has no place to rest their elbow. Apparently it has been fixed in 2021, so we'll see whenever my IS500 comes in.
Second - In addition to no good place for the cell, unless a 3rd party holder is purchased, there is no dedicated place to store sunglasses. It can go into the door cards, glove box, or arm rest bin...but the risk of scratches are high. :-(
Third - The brake dust on my FSport's front wheels are the bane of my existence! :-D
The car has to be washed weekly to keep it in check, especially if you're a spirited driver. Brake dust is the price you'll pay for really good stopping power.
Personal Tip: If you find a desired Lexus, do exactly what AK said about getting it checked out. Additionally, I recommend registering on the Lexus Owners page and plug in the VIN of the vehicle. If it was ever serviced at the dealer, those records will be immediately visible for free. From here you can verify if all TSPs have been done.
    Get. This. Car.
You will not be sorry you did, because the cachet (overall) is better than BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. 🙂

We picked up a second hand 2014 is300h in 2018, black outside, creme inside, it already had more than 100k on the clock but it has been a dream. It really does feel like a new car even though it's 8 years old, and the turning circle, omg, it's incredible. Ours is fully optioned with everything including Mark Levinson premium sound and it is incredible. It now has 140k on the clock and it still looks and drives like new, in and out, it really does. Another thing to consider in the hybrids is how often the engine is off or at idle when driving around town or on the highway, so 140k on the clock of a hybrid is not like 140k on a BMW 3 series. We just can't fault it, we like it so much we just bought a new NX and we are keeping the IS as our second car.

Have owened my 2018 Lexus IS 200t for the past 2.5 years and love it!
A common issue on these cars are tire's being eating up quickly
So many IS Owners upgrade front Bushings to RCF or Figs LCA and Rear Toe arms with aftermarket Toe arms, these two things will help the longevity on tires on the cars :)
a fan platform to modify for the younger crowd if you can afford it as its not a cheap car to mod.

You will really like it. Suspension is stiff but not harsh and is a pretty quick car even though is not as fast as the competition. The best part is that it doesn't break down. I picked up a 2015 Atomic Silver one with the red interior before the pandemic and love it. I'm glad I got it before the chip shortage since the price is now about 8k more.

It's a great underrated car is the IS, I have the hybrid and you can really hustle it around town. However, there are creaks and rattles. All the plastic in the centre console has driven me nuts over the years with all the creaks when the car flexes when going around corners. I've had to strip it down several times to add loads of felt tape to lots of contacting surfaces, nearly all gone, bit still not perfect. Also there are rattles from door panels in hot weather, and the door seals are garbage, have to keep reapplying grease. Mechanically though the car is bullet proof and will never let you down, handling is also great and hybrid gets awesome fuel economy

I like this, and I'm considering it, or a TLX, or Civic Si. I don't know why most reviewers are so biased against this IS. I think the interior is outstanding and doesn't feel dated at all. Ironically, reviewers hate the dated interiors on the German cars. The reviewers also seem to hate the new interiors on the German cars. They hate the power output on the IS, but it's most adequate, and most BMW 330 and 340 owners rarely ever wring out their cars.

We live in Denver, CO and the AWD system with all season tires works great in the snow. I ran winter tires one season and its even better. I hate changing tires so now I run all season. Its not as fun as a 3 series or A4 and not as luxury as a C300 BUT its a really good car and will be VERY reliable compared to the BMW, MB, Audi or Alfa Romeo. Infact we had an A3 and sold it when my wife got a company car. Id rather keep the Lexus over the Audi.

I bought a 2020 IS350 F Sport in Dec 2021. It's my daily driver with a 15-30 minute commute on suburban roads. It was an upgrade from a 2012 GTS86 so it's a very different experience and even though I miss the 86, I don't regret my choice. The extra grunt of the V6, especially in Sports+ mode, makes this heaps of fun to drive but so much more luxurious. Fuel consumption is about 8L/100km on highways and up to 14L/100km on suburban streets in peak hour traffic. Our other car is a CRV so the added bonus of a Lexus is luxury with levers (indicator and wipers etc.) in the right places! These cars are so much more than fancy Toyotas.

BTW, option wise, your RAV4 doesnt offer RWD, or proper driving dynamics, or proper insulation, etc... Having extra heated seats is not a bonus over losing a premium platform. The RAV4 is an expensive SUV built over a cheap and compromised platform. You did not upgrade over the Lexus.
