      The Panzerfaust was not only disposable but it was also re-loadable. I think 10 warheads were shipped with 6 tubes typically. The Panzerfaust was a single man weapon and it was to cumbersome to reload in battle but the left over tubes could be collected and reloaded after battle.

    At 2:03 you call this a “non-kinetic penetration”, but it absolutely is, since as you mentioned it isn’t thermal. It’s the kinetic energy of the rocket that doesn’t matter.

      @@pascalbourelier3463 The camera is fine, and the graphics are fine too? Gates of hell is a recent game that came out in 2021. I think you may be mistaking Men of War and Gates of Hell as the same game or had your graphics on low. I play both COH and GOH and when I want a hardcore gritty, logistically challenged losing dozens if not hundreds of men to capture a single position from an enemy player I play GOH. When I want an Arcady, more competitive, aggressive and less micro intensive I play COH. Both games have their own qualities. But I specifically mentioned the alternatives to MOW2 because it is a extremely watered down version of MOWAS2 and a blatant attempt to clone the more Arcady and far less complex and lower stakes of COH in a very bland and bad way. It’s trying to take from both sides and ends up not fitting anywhere comfortable. So yeah, getting men of war 2 is the worst of both worlds.

    I think you missed the requirement that the men have balls of stahl to sit there and let tanks roll up on them. I think I would be much less likely to soil myself in Men of War as opposed to actually being there. This does explain why Wehrmacht infantry divisions were able to resist armor division a lot more than we would think. You see this all the time on WW2 IRT or TIK History where the map shows an armored division crashing into an infantry division and you think the latter is going to be wiped out, yet ten seconds later the narrator is saying, "They lost 10 out of 12 tanks and retreated." Particularly later in the war when all the 88's were called back to Germany for anti-aircraft.

    Besides the Panzer-Zerstörer-Bataillon, there are also some infantry K.St.N. with RPzB at company or platoon level. The Panzergrenadierkompanie K.St.N.1114c (gp) from 1.11.1943 lists a Panzer-Zerstörer-Trupp at company level with 4 RPzB as well as one for every squad in the first three platoons, so 13 launchers in total. I don't know whether this was actually used, since it's a very well equipped and heavy formation, but you can also find earlier Panzergrenadier/Schützen company TOEs with anti-tank rifles at company level.

    • @williamzk9083

      Artillery men are trained to survey ranges and have range cards to various features and target points prior to the ambush. I suspect something like this was going on rather than just a random guess at range from experience. The Germans did have man portable stereoscopic and coincidence range finders with I believe 70cm and 1m baselines. What would concern me was the accuracy of the machining of the weapon and the ability of this lightweight construction to maintain alignment. The 8.8 cm Raketenwerfer 43 which shared the same warhead and rocket motor (albeit with percussion instead of electrical primer and fired from a breeched weapon on a 140k carriage) was lavishly and precisely machined and could accurately hit a target at hundreds of meters. The Panzerschrek was a cheap weapon with simple iron sights. How would you make sure the sights were accurately boresighted and not knocked out of alignment? The Panzerschrek with a muzzle velocity of 140m/sec would have a projectile fall of of 4.9m at 140m, 2.45m at 100m, 1.2m at 70m and 0.6m at 50m.

      @williamzk9083 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I doubt this is entirely correct. Claims of Pannzerschrek penetration are all over the place in various allied and other documents. Some of the confusion comes from the fact the Germans generally measured penetration at 30 degrees from the vertical but most of it I'm sure is from the fact that both Panzerschrek and Panzerfaust penetration improved between mid 1943 (when both weapons were well in in service) to late 1944. Warhead development did not cease.

      @williamzk9083 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The German weapons in the latter part of the war with improved warheads had a huge advantage in penetration which would come in handy when dealing with a T-34/85 or IS-2 front on. The Germans had rather heavier tanks to deal with.
      Having said that the PIAT has a huge advantage over both the Bazooka and the Panzerschrek. It has a low launch signature. No smoke and almost no sound that could be heard above e engien and track noise. The Panzerschrek mad a great deal of smoke due to black powder propellant. The Bazooka less due to use of diglycol propellant (Germans had digycol but couldn't make enough) plus ofcourse PIAT used less proepplant and had much smaller projectiles (about 1/4 the size). However if you had to deal with a big tank like an IS-2 the German weapons were best.

    • @williamzk9083
      @williamzk9083 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Generally re-loadable weapons are two man weapons operated at platoon level due to the complexity of the reload and the need to carry spare ammunition. So called disposable weapons are one man operation. The Panzerfaust was fully reloadable in the field. Yes it was disposable but it was also re-loadable. A typical crate contained 6 tubes and 10 warheads. The idea being that the tube could be dropped in combat but after the engagement (if the squad won) the tubes could be gathered and reloaded. The reload would take a few minutes. Really an awesome weapon. Half the 12 man squad could be armed with a panzerfaust each while the remainder deloused the tanks of infantry with the MG42, rifle grenades and the submachine gun or StG44 if you were lucky.

    Regarding the kinetic energy, my read is that given the speed of the actual shaped charge going off, the speed with which it hits the target is irrelevant for penetration. • @everythingsalright1121
      @everythingsalright1121 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty much. High Explosive Anti Tank munitions do all their damage via the metal jet moving several kilometers per second penetrating armor. It's why a shaped charge can be used for demolition.
      HEAT ammo is easier to protect against than armor piercing solid ammunition however. Air gaps significantly reduce the effectiveness of a HEAT jet which is why vehicles often have air gaps in their armor, and add on protection that detonates the HEAT shell further away from the vehicle.
      Of course, you can defeat standoff armor with tandem charges (two shaped charges, one to blast through the standoff armor to clear the way for the second, primary charge behind it), but then you also have Active Protection Systems which shoots down incoming projectiles and Explosive Reactive Armor which is very good at reducing HEAT jet effectiveness, and composite materials that disrupt the travel of a HEAT jet by altering it's pathway upon impact...it's one big arms race. Whereas the only realistic option to stop armor piercing ammo is thicker and stronger armor. But AP weapons are much less portable since you need heavy projectiles, and weapons that can withstand massive pressure to launch them at high speed.

    I have two questions:
    1.) Were the Panzerschreck (offical?) handed over to Panzer-Zerstörer-Bataillone only?"
    2.) If single weapons should be used ad hoc against breakthroughs of tanks, I guess in reality they were very often this way. Am I Right? (The Wehrmacht was facing an enemy tank superiority constantly in the last stages of the war and breakthroughs were acommon problem.)

    Take a block of C4. Using a spoon dig out a cylinder of C4 from the middle. The cylinder is a shaped charge, you can mold it in any shape as required. The remainder of the block of C4 is a hollow charge. Repeat this action with Semtex. By placing the cylinder of C4 into the block of Semtex you create one HEAT charge. Placing the Semtex cylinder into the C4 block you create another HEAT charge.

    Panzerschreck tactics are easy.
    1) You order 2 Panzergrenadier squads, with 2 panzerschrecks each.
    2) Intantly vaporise any enemy vehicle you stumble upon.
    3) Since as Germany you can't afford fuel for Panzers anyway, and defence through attack is the only way, these 2 squads are all the spearhead you need.
    I play way too much CoH2....
