The fact that somebody getting their arm bit off by a tiger only took up about 5 minutes of showtime just tells you how insane this show is

I'm shocked at how stupid people are - they completely missed the point that Joe Exotic is actually the villain, not the hero of this story. People hate on Carole but the real villain is Joe, who abuses the animals and is clearly using people's addictions to exploit them.
Everyone is horrible on this show, but the worst person is the director and producer who knowingly left out content that especially shows Joe in a bad light - like he's overtly racist, admits to killing animals for no reason other than they get too old to play with people.
I feel so bad for Travis, He was manipulated and practically drugged all the time by Joe and he was so young.

I don’t care how much of an addict you are (and, I’m sorry, marijuana isn’t that addictive of a drug), there’s only so much you can blame on a drug or your desire to get it. You can’t be THAT high (especially 24/7) to not be at least halfway compliant and willing.

The documentary clearly made it out that Joe was supplying, not forcing.
PLUS, marijuana might make you feel happy or sleepy (depending on strain), but it’s not going to alter your state of consciousness to the point where you’re doing things that you would never do sober. We’re not talking about one night here, this went on for years. If someone is high enough to be doing something out of character 24/7 for years, they’re not going to be able to function. He wasn’t spending his days cloistered in his bedroom or holed up in a basement.
I’m not saying he wasn’t manipulated or taken advantage of, I’m just saying the argument doesn’t fit. If we were talking about him using heroin (which can’t be done recreationally) and him acting like a completely different person, that might have merit.

Partly due to people stuck in their home and consume Netflix like it was literal food.

I feel blessed that I have never seen a single episode of this show. Never heard of it until recently.
It is not "must watch" tv. But it is very easy to watch tv. You can burn through the episodes pretty quickly without getting bored because a new messed up thing is revealed just about every other minute.
Stay away from this show at all costs! Don't let your curiosity lure you into it!

The podcast Joe Exotic by Wonderly is pretty good without being over the top telereality like.
I saw it while browsing on Netflix. I wanted to watch it but after seenng this honest tralier, i think i will not watch it. Seem reallly disturbing and psychotic.

The show kinds just ignores the cat ishue. It's a prop, that doesn't make the show bad, it's a show about Joe, but animal abuse is almost a plot point. Which is fine I guess but still left me wondering if tigers have a dark future

It might also have a third meaning -- I think "crackers" is a UK slang term for "crazy," like "He's gone crackers," but I'm not 100% sure. If anyone wants to correct me, please go ahead. But if this is also a valid definition, they're basically re-titling the show, "Crazy White People Being Crazy About Animals." ... @@BlankNames111 But the animal abuse is really cruel. After I watched it, I felt depressed. It's not good for empathetic and sensitive people like me. I think a few mistake the show with entertainment, but it's a documentary about people and incidents that really happened and exist. They all make excuses why they didn't stop the abuse or why they done it or why they didn't had a choice. But they could end it imedatly and they didn't. The only good man in this show is the one who made the documentary so the law in the U.S. change.

And 1 zoo keeper goes "there are 15 tigers in thier and 1 slab of meat" when they were struggling to find food for the cats when it got really bad financially.

It seems to me that Carole Baskin is doing good work. She runs an animal sanctuary. She doesn't breed or sell animals (any more).
@@phantomkelgar3704 false. she stopped breeding them decades ago and now just takes in rescues. she charges admission for the public 1 day a year fo a fund raiser and the rest of the time she'll do small private tours, again for revenue to take care of the tigers. it may not seem like a huge difference whether or not she breeds them but its actually everything. its the difference between creating the problem and managing it. she's also a leader in creating legislation to end big cat breeding, which is more important than any of this. the show was made for views, not to show anyones side with factual accuracy. if you want the truth you have to do your own research. animal protection groups support her for a reason.

I don't think anyone is celebrating it; most things I've seen have been making fun of the people in it, because they are so ridiculous. If anything, I hope seeing it makes people not want to patronize these animal parks, so they go out of business.

@@mariesabine2385 no it wouldnt. In germany they called the show "Raubkatzen und ihre Raubtiere" which translates to "big cats and their predators" and nobody actually did get it and knew what to expect from the show until it was renamed.

The first interview in the show with the media guy seemed very Tarantinoish with how the guy phrased things to me.

Beyonce's kind of oblivious when it comes to big cats being exploited for photos. She went to at least one of those tiger petting places in Thailand (Tiger Temple? Tiger Kingdom?) which is basically tigers being bred like a puppy mill being petted by tourists, then disappearing when they get too big and winding up in pieces on the black market for traditional medicine.
I think the main point we should all take away from this documentary is that most of them are bad people and deserve to be in jail lol

I think the main point should be that these places only exist because they make money from the people going to see them. Stop posing and taking photos with baby tigers/lions
and encourage stricter laws that forbid private ownership of exotic animals.
