Yeah they were.... technology just enough to make life quality high but still not to the degree of trapping people's heads in a screen all day, enough freedom and liberal ideas but not radical ones....if i was bold i'd say it is one of the best decades in history.... If only they return..
This is how I remembered Times Sq. in 1995 I was 11 and it was the biggest deal looking at it coming from a tiny town in Norway. Now when I go, it's no neon lights, but big LCD screens instead. Still an amazing plaze though and I go there as often as I can. Definitely safer there now, and Times Sq. is more laid out for walking and sight seeing.
The 1990s seem like a cool time. I was born in 2008, but I actually think it looks nice. I actually imagine how life would be like with me in the 1990s. All of the songs are good. There were also good things to watch on TV like Cartoon Network. Pretty much Disney was good at that time with their movies like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan. There used to be a thing called “outside” before the internet. But there was also the PS1, SNES, Sega Genesis, and N64. My point is the 1990s could of been great without electronics.
Aaron Szalai No you idiot. Ever heard of the LA riots? You are a real piece of work. Times were bad. The crime rate was high. War was happening in the Middle East. You're just having a nostalgia moment.
@@timothymatthews6458 You don't have to be rude. I do realize, that those times weren't perfect either but still, looking back it feels like they were calmer years...you're probably right about the nostalgia moment thing tho...
I legit just passed Sbarro on 49th between 7th and Broadway. It’s no longer there . Now junkies are in front of the restaurant shooting up dope. I was born 1995 so I didn’t get to experience that iconic big plate.
It's mid-90s. The Who's Tommy ran from 1993-1995. (I saw it twice.) But you can also tell it's 90s because Times Square is clean and porn-free. It was a very quick turnaround.
@Mexicana Loca Justin Bieber Oreo A science fiction film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. It wasn't very good from what I remember but it was released in October 1994. You can see it on the marquee at around 1:00 into the video.
After decades of decline the 90's promised a better Times Square and what happened? Yeah, safer but also a mix of Vegas and Disneyland - I think I'd prefer it in the 70's as bad as it was - lol
The Firts was the Neón second was the Bulb and after led screen 4:01 Bow tie Building the firts was Casino and now it's Old Navy and Gap And Before it was Toy Rus Store
The 90s were good times.
for western countries only

@@nobs8930 So true. Well put. I am a proud 1990 born 90s kid.
The new millennium is not. End it.

You’re right man, I wish I was born in like 1978, so I could get I could get a experience of both the 80s and 90s all together
I miss this so much
Does anyone else feels that those times were more peaceful?
Yes i understand
yeah

Nope. NYC was out of control with crime. Plus with no social media and less technology, it made things very easy to hide.

I was there in 1990 and used to eat big plates of pasta in that place Sbarro. Such great memories. 👍

Porn should return ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
1994
I loved that play. I saw Tommy in Toronto in the spring of 95.
'93 is early! Mid 90s starts at 94
What you mean by porn-free?
Looks like 1994 because the movie Stargate is in theaters.

@Mexicana Loca Justin Bieber Oreo Me too. That was my favorite decade ever
Nice 1994 NYC!! I thought it was 1996 because of all those Crown Vics on the road
This was around Christmas 1994.
Half the companies shown on these ads are basically out of business
You know what i miss… the old seaport
times square was already cleaned up and looking like disney land
It wasn't....I was there in 94 and trust me it was a scene
This could (and should) be rescanned at 1080p and also 4k if it was shot on 35mm
My thinking exactly.
Interesting time of this footage.

What? They dont have sound in the 90s?
Um, this isn't the '80s... Some of those taxis are early-mid 1990s model Chevrolet Caprices.
Before Prius age...😢😢😢
back when the roads are covered in Chevy Caprice taxis.
I miss caprice cars and crown Victoria cars as well.
Roy rogers good burgers
ROY ROGERS ALSO HAD GREAT FRIED CHICKEN. NOTHING FANCY. BUT GREAT. I MISS ROY ROGERS.
Kevin is missing, and Jason wants to take Manhattan.
I hope Jason doesn't get Kevin in NY while the sticky bandits realize he's there.
It is exactly like India in 2050
Ah yes when you had a dozen lanes of vehicles barreling through as pedestrians tried to seek shelter on little slices of sidewalks
