What skin undertones does she think redheads have? The redheads in my large Irish family all have pink undertones. I can only think of one redhead I've met with warm skin undertones and he had very dark hair and brown eyes.

YES, that was annoying me so much - I can never understand these people who are all like 'omg I'm so nervous I'm so scared to do this' but they never do any research - at least not enough to know that you need to saturate your hair when you bleach. Not enough to know not to *blow dry uncovered bleach*! It's so frustrating 😂

I agree. Her brows, eye color, skin tone, look good with the orange hair color. I think most people can pull off red tones as long as they have the right tone for their skin.
The more you talk about how to do this process correctly, the more I realize that it is more than worth the money I spend in a salon to get it done right. There’s no way in HELL I’d even think to do this myself.
Even as a trained professional I got frustrated trying to do my own roots

I feel the same way. I get that these TH-camrs are trying to save money, but it’s such a complex and risky process it’s not worth losing your hair over. A good colorist is worth every penny they charge.
And they make how many trips to Wal Mart, Sally's CVS, etc just to SAVE MONEY??

That's fascinating: semi permanent pigment + bleach gives direct pigment that grows. Each time learning something new. Love it!
Semi-permanent dye is also called "direct" dye. With permanent dye the chemicals form a bond to the molecules of the hair through oxidation. Direct dyes coat the outside of the hair shaft only. But depending on how healthy the hair is, direct dyes can either slide off hair very easily... or they can stain the hair very deeply. "Semi-permanent" dye can be harder to remove than permanent dye...
Bleach will sometimes remove it completely... but other times it can react and cause unexpected results. Bleaching purple semi-perm dye can turn hair very green!!
Go to Guy Tang's channel. He is a master at explaining the chemistry behind dye process.

@@monicaclasener It usually fades faster than permanent dye as there is no molecular bond joining the dye molecule to the hair.
But a word of warning... blues and green semiperm dyes can almost be impossible to get out of hair. They stain the hair shaft very deeply!!! Personally, when I use pink or purple they fade out almost completely after a dozen washes...but everyone's hair is different. My hair was bleached to level 10...a few areas level 9. I will admit that my hair also is damaged from the bleaching and very porous.

I’ve watched this one before. It’s tragic because first she doesn’t understand color theory at all. Then she isn’t saturating or incubating the bleach or leaving it on long enough. So she’s wasting all these processes by not letting the bleach work.
Also again, orange hair and pink skin is the reality of almost all natural gingers. It’s beautiful. Calm down.
The fact that she still has any hair left after 4 bleachings is surprising to me, I'm so happy her hair didn't break of that would have been sad. The ginger looks beautiful on her
With all of the money, time and stress she’s gone through doing this 4 times, she most certainly could have paid a pro to do it one time and the result would have been so much better.
I really do not understand why so many people think they’re going to get good results by using chemical products that they don’t understand while also foregoing all of the proper tools and techniques that are necessary to do the job correctly.
I do my hair at home all the time, it's not that hard to do really if you find out enough information but it takes a bit of time & I'm getting lazy, so going to a salon today, quite nervous..
I think doing it yourself and taking the gamble is part of the fun

Not a professional by any means, but I've been doing my own hair since I was 14 and the biggest thing I've learned is research, take your time to really think about it, and make sure you know what your doing to the best of your extent...I've fucked my shit up sooooooo many times and finally figured out what my hair reacts to best. She obviously didn't know what she was doing and should've just went to a salon.
Well if she did the research like you tube and other sources it would have helped her alot but I do my hair nothing wrong with that some people have a hair license and can't do hair at all so whatever.

I'm a brunette going gray and it seemed my roots were always showing within a couple days of coloring. After fighting it for several years i decided to just go with my natural salt and pepper hair. It took a little getting used to but i love it. My scalp and hair are very healthy and I always wanted natural highlights anyway🤗

Same here, my silver roots started shining at the temples within a week of dyeing. I just stopped going to the salon and started wearing a barrette to show off my new look. It took less getting used to than I expected. And I got a lot of compliments :) (I’m sure it was mostly the surprise that it didn’t look as bad as they’d expect, because I never got as many positive reactions with any of the relatively expensive colorings and balayages etc before). I also figured it would be less of a shock to my system if I did it at 40, when I see my face youthful, rather than at 60, when I imagine age will show a lot more. Anyway, best decision I ever took about my hair, only regret not having done it before.

I once had a "professional" hairstylist bleach my hair 3 times in 1 day. He claimed to know how to do Balyage highlights and made a complete mess of my hair. Then dyed it brown again because he messed it up so badly. I had about 4 different shades in my hair when he was done and it was by the grace of God I didn't go bald. The worst part was he had the nerve to charge me $300 for this mess!

@@AmethystEyes He was very angry and insulted that I wouldn't pay him. He began arguing with me and literally threatened to call the police on me because I refused to pay. The guy was incredibly unprofessional. Meanwhile, there I was with multicolored, uneven, blotchy, damaged hair. I had to find someone to fix and repair my hair again.

(Hairdresser colleague here) Well, to be fair, baking soda ist great as a PREPARATION before bleeching previously perm dyed hair. It doesn't bleech, all it does is deeply clean the hair and by doing so it takes SOME of the artificial pigments out. But it cannot bleech, natural pigment will remain anyway and most of the artificial pigment too.
The strawberry blonde definitely suits her well! I like it on her!

It always really bothers me when people mix dish soap and baking powder and developper and citric acid whatnot together to put on their own body - those are chemicals / contain chemicals, don't wildly mix them unless you know exactly what you're doing, Jesus. Also the damage from developper + baking powder + dish soap probably is preeeetty harsh on the hair cuticle whilst having no desirable or at least not such a great effect whatsoever, why not bleach it and at least get some colour out... aghhh
I can tell you from experience......the soap, baking powder and developer doesn't work and it DESTROYS your hair!!! A bleach bath is a much better alternative if your looking for a "less harsh" way to remove color.
The big mistake was she forgot it was PERMANENT dye, rather than semi permanent. She really needed to use a colour remover specifically for permanent colour.

I used to dye my hair at home and for the past 5 years I'm salon only. I spent so much money doing trial and error and fixing mistakes at that point it's barely any cost extra to just go to the salon in the first place so I fully feel her pain lol

The tip you gave about the eyeshadow works really well also for thin patches or thinning hairline from postpartum hair fall also! I did it a lot with a small blush brush after both my babies. Makes your hairline look thicker

Also, I use EVERYTHING Olaplex (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment, the popular No. 3, the hair oil, and now I want to try the dry shampoo.) I’m a HUGE believer in the entire line of products!
Anyway, I’ve been binging your videos today/tonight and I’m really enjoying them! I LOVE how you make suggestions and offer “How To” videos for those who want to do their hair at home. I wish I had something like this back in the day when I would take chances with my own hair at home. It would have saved me from SO MANY HEADACHES! 😊❤

As a stylist myself, I’m just starting the video, I can almost guarantee if she’s coloring her hair at home she’s probably coloring the whole head every time. If this is the case, omg it will be orange on the ends for so long… oh no not another color remover disaster.!! Semi permanent over semi permanent over semi permanent is permanent…..

It’s hard to tell true color as each TV set shows different shades and hues. But on my tv her final results are so close to my natural color I was surprised. I was thinking it would be bright orange but that soft, light ginger is the first time I’ve seen a bottled color look even close to a natural red. It took me years to love my color and it looks beautiful on her. I hope she will consider keeping it.
