Being born in an environment of music, Sreya was initiated to the art of singing by the parents, who are established musicians, Father, Sri Nitish Dutta Roy, a well known exponent of Nazrulgeeti and Mother, 'Surmani' Mira Dutta Roy - an erudite singer and had been a Professor in Classical Music at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
Sreya did her post graduation in Hindusthani Classical Music from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and also did her Ph.D. in the same University.
Sreya also learnt Hindusthani Classical Music under the meticulous tutelage of the Maestro Dr. Amiya Ranjan Bandyopaddhya.
Sreya is a regular broadcaster for All India Radio having started from the Children's Programme.
Sreya has in her credit a number of CDs released so far.
