They're both great in my opinion. The acoustic version is a more solemn affair producing a more reflective struggle with the whole idea and implications of Alzheimer's. The original, plugged version produces, at least in me, a more anxious, frustrated response to the whole tragedy that is that disease and what it means for you and your family. And the whole feeling is emphasized in the plugged version when he goes into the break from the harder sound to sing, "and if I recall... the one thing... you said to me.. before it broke up, before it took you from me..." It's a foil to the rest, whereas in the acoustic version, you don't have that contrast. They're both wonderful versions of a song that encapsulates what I like about their music.
This is the first GLA song I ever heard. It was randomly on the radio years after it came out. Shazam’d it and the rest was history.
