I haven't been to Cold Stone in years but I took my son there today specifically for this collab. He was so excited to see Kirby on ice cream that he kept pointing at the poster saying "Look, look, look!". Luckily they had the cups 😅
I love that the mario party ice cream isn't just party themed, it's also colored like the dice block. On top of that there is a cake map in mario party, so it fits in that way too! It's a masterpiece. I think. That or it's just an advertisement disguised to be delicious
I got the island getaway one. And they put it in a Mario cup- I was so disappointed. I ended up asking if I could have a animal crossing one on the side and felt silly doing it. But I got it, so mission accomplished lol.
Watching Peebs walk into a Cold Stone I've actually gone to before is one hell of a way to find out he lives somewhere less than an hour away from me. Thank you for trying these ice creams for those of us who can't! And also for the 5 minute existential panic seeing that Cold Stone sent me into. That was invigorating.
As someone who LOVEs birthday cake ice cream, the blue color is typically the sweet cake frosting/icing they mix in. I see most brands going to blue for the color, maybe because it's more different and sticks out?
I guess maybe the animal crossing one added banana to give it more of a “tropical“ vibe? 🍌🏝 And then strawberry and chocolate go well with banana? To be fair, since most of the cooking you do involves fruit (and veggies) in ACNH, they may have wanted to incorporate as much fruit as possible, but choosing from what they already had on hand at locations (I’m assuming).
I have to wonder if they couldn't have done cherry instead of strawberry, not only because cherries are a big Animal Crossing fruit, but because it distances itself from the strawberry Kirby one.

I legit just had the same experience with my cold stone. They didn’t have the cups and despite it being good ice cream that’s all it was. I did get the cake however as well though.
Cold Stone's Ice Cream is too rich for me to even finish most of the time. I can't imagine eating two or three or them in one sitting! Had the Rainbow Road Cake for my birthday one year and it was delicious.
On the topic of Nintendo food, if you have a kung fu tea close by there is a Kirby boba drink available called Kirby's Fruity Flurry. We're on a roll with Nintendo themed desserts!

The Kirby one kind of makes me think they should have gone with cotton candy flavored ice cream. I'm not sure if it would be good with the other ingredients. It just seems more on theme for some reason.

Yeah from experience the frozen strawberries from cold stone aren't always the greatest. I think it's just because strawberries especially cut strawberries can go bad kind of quickly.

There's a place called Kung Fu Tea that's doing a collab with Nintendo, there's a Kirby themed jelly tea but they ran out of the cups and the ingredients for it.
That ice cream looks fantastic! Now I can't help but wonder what a Zelda-themed ice cream would look like. At the very least, the ice cream would need to be green to match Link's tunic, so maybe chocolate chip mint or matcha? (Matcha's my favorite, so I'd buy that in a red-hot minute. :P)

Pretty sure that's the same Birthday Cake kind of ice cream that was with the Mario promotion a couple years ago 👍 Had it around that time for some Nintendo Reward Points, and it was really good. Happened around my birthday too. There was a milkshake that matched with the ice cream and ice cream cake, but I'm just jealous of anyone dropping money on the cake because it just looks so goddamn good 🖤 I'll be torn between trying the Kirby and Animal Crossing ice creams this time

You say that but now I actually want a rainbow road dessert themed level in the next Mario Kart game, MK 9 let's go Rainbow Road Sweets, road made of rainbow sprinkes, stars made of marshmellows, chocolate coins for items, instead of koopa shells gumballs, whip cream springy things like the mushrooms at mushroom gorge, off roading slowing you down is ice cream, and the mushroom power ups look like little cakes, maybe cupcakes then mega mushroom is an actual big cake, maybe a wedding cake, bloopers spitting up chocolate instead of ink or piranha plants spitting up strawberry jam instead of ink or oil slicks.
I had a similar experience with my cold stone. Got The Animals Crossing one was given generic cup, I could literally see the Nintendo cups sitting out on the back counter!
Animal Crossing one: I would've had chocolate icecream, topped sugar-coconut-shavings, 1-candied-orange-round-slice accent & 'Whoppers' sponsor candy mixed in to represent the large rocks you break on the Island.
Watches video, proceeds to look up Cold Stone Creamery locations nearby, discovers that none are even remotely close to hometown, cries on the inside...
