Hey Packster, just caught this vid. Since you're a Brunswick family staffer, I thought I'd share a success story with some more obscure balls in their line. I'm a speed dominant lefty and I find the asyms work well for me. A few months ago, I was looking for a heavy oil ball, like a Gem or Physix. My PSO had a C300 Command Solid sitting around that he was looking to, ahem, get rid of. He offered it at a discount since its discontinued. He drilled it strong to start early. This ball has become my #1 out of the bag for the leagues I bowl in 2 different houses. I don't have big revs, maybe 350-375, and I just throw this ball hard and straight up first arrow and it finds its way. I'm up a good 20+ pins on average since using this ball. Only minor adjustments needed towards the end of the session and I never feel the need to change balls. Throwing it in the friction doesn't seem to cause this ball to lose much energy. I hit it up with a used 1000 once a week or so to knock the shine off and its been money for me. Another Brunswick family winner for me has been the Ebonite Polaris Hybrid. Got it on a huge discount since the PSO goofed and started drilling it for a righty, which I'm not, so he had to plug one of the holes. I love the look of the ball when it gets rolling, very versatile and I can adjust surface when needed.
I tried to guess your choices before I watched the video and my picks where 1). Radical Trail Blazer Solid 2). DV8 Brutal Collision 3). Hammer Envy. We will see how I did. Damn first ball out!!! I did not see Ebonite The One Remix coming or Columbia 300 Cuda! I like how you explained your 3 ball picks. I was totally guessing the 3 balls that would swim through the oil on the fresh. Not which 3 I would use on the transition. My only asymmetric I have is my Hammer Black Widow 2.0.Good Stuff Mr. The House Bowler! :)

If there is lower volume and I need to get further down the lane I switch to a Polaris Hybrid. I have a Radical Innovator and Quantum Bias Pearl that I typically use for Game 3 when the solids and hybrids start losing too much energy before they hit the pins.
Just starting back into bowling after a 30 year layoff, ouch! It was so easy back then with limited choices, couple of questions, please. I have a new Brunswick Zenith re active ball, not drilled yet, hoping I have not made an error in choice. Never had a real large flair, some where in between, did I make a mistake in this choice? What should I be aware of before having it drilled? Any help would be greatly appreciated…..
My Asymm ball that has been killing it right now is the Rubicon UC2. Really clean with a 4 1/2" pin. Long angle layout and it has won me some pots. If the Rubicon UC2 is too much I bring out the IQ tour solid (low flare layout)....instead of moving farther in and opening angles. I'm throwing 15-16mph and adding some hand to really make it skid hard haha.
The only assym I have which is at the top of my bag is the Radical Innovator. I haven't got a solid assym because I haven't really needed a super strong ball yet. That being said my first tournament is this month on the 18th.
First ball out of my bag right now is my gb4 hybrid followed by my one encore and then into my track archetype if needed. Last few weeks I haven’t even needed to get out of my gb4 hybrid, just been manipulating hand position and release to get the same back end motion all night.
I have a Columbia 300 savage and phase three both 15 lbs . Some times I have a problem with my wrist turned on my release . I have a wrist band but was wondering if I should go to a 14 lb. Ball .
Start with the Reality Check, move to the Wolverine Dark Moss once the fronts start to burn up or the Cherry Vibe when it gets really dry. When the back end gets burned up I have an old pin-down Black Widow Black/Gold I use to control things the last few feet.
My go to is The Omega Crux but my mechanics suck so very inconsistent on my first ball because i don't practice enough that being said my other ball is a pink Hammer and my spare ball is the Brunswick Crown Jewel. With the Omega i get more trip fours and Brooklyns
I love The One Remix. I used to have the Angular One when it first came out and enjoyed throwing that ball. I just got back into bowling this year and went online and bought The X-Treme Angular One, The Golden One, and The Insanity One. For me they roll up great and I don't leave too many 7 pins. Great video on the different ball comparisons!
Top of my bag I have the Motiv Jackal Ghost, Motiv Forge Flare, and the Brunswick Vintage Phantom with Surface at 1500 or 2k Grit. They could hook through the Exxon oil slick! 😀
My go to ball is the Roto Grip Hyper Cell Fused. I back it up with Hammer Dark Legend and finish with a Columbia Piranha. The Hyper Cell does really good. I bowl once a week on House shot and have a 210 average.
I use a Mythic Jackal. Quite lengthy and retains energy like crazy! It is like it just never runs out of power. It will put me in my place if I get sloppy though, too far right and it will take off and not even wave goodbye.
I have that ball and loved that ball, then this current league im in this fall the ball became utterly unusable, no hook at all and no clue why, my tank rampage urethane is outhooking it rn and i wish i was lying.
@@MotivGuy94 I also have a Tag Cannon that I have used for 5 years now. It started to die. Got it baked and resurfaced and it's been good for another 8 months now.
I use a Black Widow 2.0. Always plays well through the oil and I can keep moving as the lanes dry up. Ball moves super well and even more so since I’m a 2 finger bowler.
Back when I threw Brunswick I'd have to say the OG Fury transition to the OG Cuda and finish with the OG 'Tude. It's Packy automatic thumbs up 👍Right handed 10 pin move back 6 inches 7 pin move up 6 inches or one length of your foot (7up 10back)
My big 3 are all MOTIV pieces. The Jackal Legacy, Forge Flare and Revolt Uprising. Two of them are big surface pieces. One is symmetric one is asymmetric and the other is a little cleaner and more shape down lane. I'm a lefty bowler too but not a two-hander.
How do these compare to other "strong" balls like the Gem? I have a Gem and a purple pearl which are two completely different balls. I start with the Gem and switch to the urethane when i need more consistency from the lanes but since they are so different it takes some time to adjust. Anything in between those two that you recommend?
I'm currently using a Track Proof Solid. Since switching to 2 hand this year, I feel like I'm having a hard time controlling this ball down lane. I don't know if it's inexperience and getting use to high revs or if the ball is too aggressive for the lanes I'm bowling on.
I love the Dark Web first. When I flat 10 I move right and go to the Idol Pro. If the heads dry up I move in and throw the Web Tour Hybrid. All symmetric. Don't currently use any asym.
Hammer 3d offset is number 1, number 2 is the hammer envy, and third is the hammer black widow 2.0. I love the 3d offset it looks the best for the way I throw and it has the best reaction from anywhere on the lane and on any condition I can make that ball work for me
I took a long hiatus from the game and came back this year (~15 year break) and was fortunate enough to pick up a couple balls. My first one out of the bag is my Hammer 3D offset that was gifted to me. I am looking to get something with a bit more natural hook for my revs. At ~15-17 mph I’m not launching it down the lane. Would love to hear suggestions on my next stronger ball that I can bring to league night.
I bowl with a roto grip riot and it hooks like a beast. Once that happens I switch to a mission unknown with no finger holes and it hits the pocket nicely.
Hey Packy when I had some really oily Lanes then I dug out I always kept it in my car but I would run out to the car and get believe it or not my Johnny petraglia LT 48 now what I had done to the surface of the ball is I had taken some 600 grit sandpaper and sanded a rough surface on the entire ball that way I was able to get some grip on lanes that when I say oily I'm talking about you see a rooster tail as the ball's going down the lane now you asked what do I do for corner pins what I normally did was if I threw a shot and I left at 10:00 then I'd spare it and wait till I came up to that lane again and if I tend it again then what I would do with at the approach I would move one shoe length in front of the dots and that way I did change the angle to the pocket without having to use ball speed now I don't know about you but I think controlling ball speed is probably one of the hardest things to master now I've actually quit bowling like 5 years ago because my knees just couldn't take that bending anymore it's kind of funny cuz bowling at North Rock I wouldn't virtually never seeing what I call wet Lanes they were pretty consistent week after week but when you go to other houses in Wichita that used to be around that aren't any more like boulevard or flight planes on Harry and they you never knew what condition you got and one thing I have to say is that I was a card carrying PBA member who just went to regionals around this area but I didn't have any sponsors and you know could not afford to go out and buy every ball that my heart desired such as yourself and the other active PBA tour members you know pretty much can get on any bowling ball they want drilled for them and they don't have to pay very much for him if anything
Great vid Packy…admittedly I haven’t bowled in a LONG time. When I did bowl I would square up my angle, catch a little more and with a little more speed - I wouldn’t be able to repeat the shots you were making with the Cuda…That would be the only thing I’d be wary of (repeatability) - in the end that is just as (if not more) important than figuring out the angle - I’m not a pro though Love the vids my man - as always… ~Sean
Top of my bag is the Black widow ghost and the storm nova behind it for the earlier roll as it breaks down. But all three leagues I've bowled in recently have lightened the oil and shortened the pattern so I've been throwing Hammer scorpion and Phaze V symmetrical for over 2 months
OK. I'm not up on making what ball choice to go to after x number of frames on any shot (I know oil volume comes into play) because I can't just drill up a ball each time I go somewhere .I wish I could. so, 2nd best is to build a versatile arsenal and learn to know what moves / changes to make when right? so, if I send a couple videos, could you help me build a 3-ball arsenal (including using current pieces I use) and give me an idea how long to use each on a house shot for now. my home house is AMF synthetic and I can tell you at about frame 8 or 9 it goes from good down lane moves to light headpins hits. then how long to hold on to the 2nd ball you recommend before going to ball #3? facts. -I'm not good at being able to determine what "a little more rotation" is or how to do it properly . I don't really know what that 'feels' like without over-doing this what comes automatically for you. I can slow down ok . - I don't know what combo of ball/layout to set up for logical progression on the transition. you mention shorter pin. I go ??? - I'm medium revs matched or speed dominant tendency. pap approx 4 over 1 up. can vary speed from 13s to 18 controllably. -right handed/use thumb. -I can go to Matt McNeil and have him drill stuff up. so, I know that's really a good thing. OK. let me know where to send a few videos . thx much!
If I leave a corner pin I normally start with moving either forward or backwards and if it is still either to sharp or too much angle I'll move forward and to the left or right and start slowing my speed down until I can find the shot again
Yep, thats my exact adjustments...I move in and slow it down with some rotation. If that doesn't work, I pick up my symmetrical solid or pearl and start lofting. The lane break down happens fast at my house, so i usually start this process in game 2 LOL
I am working with plastic polyester. hand position is the real key NOT ball or weight of the ball (any ball will hook & strike 6lb to 16lb) I have a hard time keeping plastic polyester on the right side of the pins. I believe more forward roll over side-ward roll is the key. hand position is key to all lane conditions. not what the ball is made out of or the weight the offset inside the ball. a resin ball I need to muscle & flat hand the ball every time to keep it to the right side. my resins are dust collectors. to stay on the right side of the pins as a right hander there is only 20 boards to the center of the head pin so really I only have about 16 boards to cross & still stay on the right side strike zone. that is 16 boards from board 1 to board 16 (any more boards it will be a high on the head pin shot) I believe the real key is side roll vs forward roll or that hand position. we know for a fact the more angle is best no matter ball used. if you can't get that 6 degree angle you can't strike as often no matter ball used. I also believe if all pins are not in motion at time of impacted its a LUCKY strike as with the ball going through the pins & splitting the 8 & 9 or the famous "Belmo messengers" strikes. watch the first 20 PBA televised 300 games count how many messengers & or 8 & 9's taken out by the ball. I have yet to count them but I would bet there aren't many of ether. today is 12-7-2022
Ahhhhh!!!!!!!! The freakin' audio! This is the type of video I need to learn what moves to make and when. So, for that THANKS. My top Asym equipment is 1. Statement Solid 2. Black Widow Black & Gold. 3. Motiv Jackal Mythic My first move when I Ten pin is usually to move up about 4 inches and walk slowly to the line. It slows my ball down enough to read the lane sooner and come in just a bit higher. If that doesn't work, then I move in 2 and move my target 1. Once again, thank you for the insight.
In heavy oil my current ball 1is my Hammer Envy. So I really only use it in my PBA experience league or in tournaments. My house league for whatever reason never seems to have enough oil. So I just use my old clear plastic ball from 1997.
I took my wifes Black Widow {2003 - 1.0 i call it} from her cuz she said it hurt her fingers. 19 yr old !! 6 mo ago i shot my highest 3 game series with (im 2 hander- 67 yrs old) , It was pin driiled nxt to fingers used to go BIG HOOK LEFT TO RIGHT TO LEFT But after so many sweatings now it just goes down & in !!!! boom - Ssoooooooo, I bought the Widow 2,0 !!!!!! drilled it same way BANG into the pocket !! I even learned to move left !!! I used to put my lft foot 17 bds left of ctr & throw right ok but at 39 board i couldnt get it to make the turn back BUT NOW !!!! after several of yur videos i sometimes stand in front of the ball return & throw with my left foot on the 48 or 50 board !!! thanks
I enjoy your videos but... do you have any suggestions for some of us amateur bowlers that throw just a straight ball??? That being said to I use a ball from the 1960's...
The asym I have in my league bag is my black widow legend. I use it primarily on the sport pattern. I also have the Cuda for the sport pattern. As a third, I want to add the Dv8 Hellcat to my bag as another asym. As a lefty, If I’m flattening 7 usually move in.
I only have a Brunswick power groove reactive, got it forever ago before i started hooking, hated it then, love it now. she hooks hard, but now i need to figure out how to get it down lane in the 3rd game.
hey Pack, i watch all ur vids. i have been bowling for 65yrs and ive never seen lanes like the ones im bowling on now im right handed and throw a hammer RAW {colored) and having a terrible time seems like the lanes are for left handers cause everything breaks from left to right. i am used to playing the first board but here the ball goes in the right gutter on anything right of 10 . the ball actually turns RIGHT. if u go down 11 the ball takes off and is hard to go 1-3 pocket or ball will run away. Lefties have no trouble hitting 1st board on left side. there is no one in the league including 180 or 190 bowlers who havent thrown a gutter on the right. im totally embarrassed. i used to average 197 in my hey days but at age 75 im good at 150. on these lanes im avg 120 with several games below 100. Helpless in Arkansas.
I bowl with Global 900 eternity. Im noticing it's not that great in the fresh. but game 2 and 3 it's money. ANY RECOMENDATIONS FOR A BALL IN THE FRESH?
Hey, Packy!! I know your a 2 handed bowler but my question to you is if a righty rolls his ball down lane at a 11:00 o’clock position but I’m a one hander lefty so, would I roll my ball down lane at a 1:00 o’clock position.. I have a #StormFastPitch that I throw more often cause, I’m more consistent with it than my #RotoGripHypedHydrid still learning how to throw it cause that ball breaks alot down the lane and I also got a Brunswick TZone for my spares #BadArsonal I love watching your TH-cam videos!!
Hey packy, wondering how you can maintain such a consistent reaction with your balls? after awhile my balls lose reaction and they go straight, have to play a lot more to the right for it to reach the pocket (righty)
I am really struggling with this too, i want the actual answer.. Here is what i have come up with so far. Balls only last 2-300 games and start to lose hook as it goes, i throw a GEM and it has lost it's hook faster than any ball ive ever thrown. Makes me mad because i love the GEM out of the box but after a month or two its basically a house ball
Dealing with this with my zen soul. When I find it skids out into the 3-6 where normally it was hitting the pocket, slowing down has helped the ball read the lane and make the corner. That ball has probably 200 games on it. Going to try and detox to purge some oil. I’ve hit it with surface too, helps for a moment.
Bleed them every now and then, I do that by having them sit in warm (not hot) water with dawn liquid soap for an hour or two. The degreaser helps pull the oil out of the ball, and the warm water opens the pores of the cover. Proshops will often have "ovens" for the balls as well that you will be able to use. Of course sanding/polishing the ball, and if the ball is still dead after that you can resurface them. Pros will usually just drill a new ball though lol. I'm not sure if they even bother bleeding them most of the time
@@matthewberwald1691 Ya i imagine they don't throw the same ball for very long lol. I have detoxed before and it restores the ball a good amount but it doesn't last very long. Thank you for your answer
I use a few different bowling balls I have a radical ludicrous which I love it’s never done me wrong it’s stayed in good shape after 4 years of use I also have a radical bonus it’s not an a symmetric ball but hooks very well for me I’m going to end up getting a storm super nova the pro shop manager at my local alley said it’d be perfect for me
definitely reality at the top of my bag, im able to create some crazy angles and play straighter when i need to and when it gets a little too strong i can ball down to a zen soul.
straighter is greater for me at 14-15 mph and 350+ rpms... I usually try to go up about .5 mph when flat corner pins or not tripping 4-pin. I have games where wheeling the ball just means too many splits and can't stay consistent with ball reaction, I have more miss room with straighter angles on house shots and sport patterns, unless outside of 5 is OB for the pattern. Have been throwing Brunswick balls for years, really thinking of going to C300/Radical/Track brands now under Brunswick just for some shape changes, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I go old school with a virtual gravity nano for super oily conditions. It came out 12 years ago but has minimal games on it. After that, I have a Motiv Trident and then the 3D Offset.
How about for someone who comes straight from the back of the ball and thru? I cant seem to get on the side so i guess i have 0 rotation. I have the zen soul 14lb and need help. I recorded myself and i think everything is wrong. Help
I end on 14 to 16 board roll on the 5 6 or 4 board and barely get to the head pin. I let go at the top of the ball not off to the side. I can't get it. I pitched fast pitch forever and I guess I pitch it. Lol
I bowl league on tuesday nights and i have both the hammer black widow 2.0 and the ghost pearl as my asyms but also have the storm hy road max as an aysm piece i have in my bag with 1500 grit of surface on it love the videos packy and the rest of the house. I met packy at junior gold and it was an expierence i would love to do back to keep up the work fellas
My move on a 7pin is where I was standing I move my feet about 2 inches back from where I’m standing and if it leave it then I move one board to the right
Believe it or not when I'm bowling on lanes a bit oily, I use my Roto-Grip Haywire. I know it an older ball but it still works when I need it. Others balls in my arsenal are: Super Nova, Storm Parlex, Zen Global, Crux Prime. I'm thinking about adding a Purple Hammer.
Honestly was looking for a video like this. In the East region qualifier in January, I couldn’t hook my hell raiser blaze or widow 2.0 on the dragon pattern
I’ve been subscribed for over a year now 👍🏻. And it’s funny on how I found this video today, I’m in the market for a heavy oil ball and this just popped up.

@@SovietWarMusic I was able to find it on eBay for 200 or so. Sometimes you can make an offer for less and they might take it.
The Angular One and Complete NV were the 2 go to EBI balls back in the day.
@@remoevans7847 I never bought the Complete NV but I had the Total NV. How much difference was there between the two?
@@ixigreenmanixi The Total was a earlier reading, more continuous motion. The Complete was a cleaner, longer skid/flip type of motion for me.
Hi Packy! Love the videos man! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Braden I will!
My most used ball is a gallop gold straight up in-between 4 and 6 depends on oil usage in house shot.
900 Global Reality with surface at 1000 grit is my most powerful asymetric ball. Love it!
My two benchmark bowling balls - Motiv Rogue Assassin & Storm IQ Tour Emerald.
I use a Black Widow 2.0. Always plays well through the oil and I can keep moving as the lanes dry up. Ball moves super well and even more so since I’m a 2 finger bowler.
Hammer is garbage
The top of my bag I have my Harsh Reality and then my Black Widow 2.0 hybrid. My 3rd is my Trouble Maker solid
For question 1: Quantum Evo Pearl for my house shot.
For question 2: (right-handed) Wrap 10- move 2 and 1 left. Flat 10- move 1 and 0 right
Back when I threw Brunswick I'd have to say the OG Fury transition to the OG Cuda and finish with the OG 'Tude.
Still bowling league with a house ball myself. Will upgrade one day thanks for the tips.
Love the videos. Have you ever reviewed the Pyramid line of bowling balls? I haven't seen any that have really. Is there a reason?
He’s on staff with the Brunswick brands.
I don't know if it's inexperience and getting use to high revs or if the ball is too aggressive for the lanes I'm bowling on.
right now i got a dv8 intimidator pearl with surface. also a storm hyroad max. both are great on fresh oil
I love the 3d offset it looks the best for the way I throw and it has the best reaction from anywhere on the lane and on any condition I can make that ball work for me
2.0 was a beast for me!
Top of my bag is the storm parallax, which I like to go to if my cosmos isn’t finding home. Just switched to two handed a few weeks ago😅
With the finger grip tape do u use a not to tight drilling like a little loose drilling?
I bowl with a roto grip riot and it hooks like a beast. Once that happens I switch to a mission unknown with no finger holes and it hits the pocket nicely.
Hi Packy! love the vids and im using a black widow black gold. would love to see a review from a two hander like yourself! love from singapore!
I don’t know if I can get a black widow gold 🥺
Hammer Envy Tour is my first ball out. Adjust from there.
Great vid Packy…admittedly I haven’t bowled in a LONG time. When I did bowl I would square up my angle, catch a little more and with a little more speed - I wouldn’t be able to repeat the shots you were making with the Cuda…That would be the only thing I’d be wary of (repeatability) - in the end that is just as (if not more) important than figuring out the angle - I’m not a pro though
Love the vids my man - as always…
~Sean
Love that!
Yep, thats my exact adjustments...I move in and slow it down with some rotation. If that doesn't work, I pick up my symmetrical solid or pearl and start lofting. The lane break down happens fast at my house, so i usually start this process in game 2 LOL
Jackal Ghost, Trident Abyss, Proton Physix. I also have a Brunswick Fury and Twisted Fury Solid.
I have yet to count them but I would bet there aren't many of ether. today is 12-7-2022
the bowl at the top of my bag is the brunswick tenacity for sure!
I don't have the revs to move in too deep, so when I'm leaving flat 10s, I'm lofting more.
I love the small lofting trick
Ahhhhh!!!!!!!! The freakin' audio! This is the type of video I need to learn what moves to make and when. So, for that THANKS. My top Asym equipment is 1. Statement Solid 2. Black Widow Black & Gold. 3. Motiv Jackal Mythic
My first move when I Ten pin is usually to move up about 4 inches and walk slowly to the line.
I use a Hammer 3-D Offset Attack. I am a lefty (single handed) and really like the aggressive backend.

BTW they oil the lanes right before we bowl
I bowl with Global 900 eternity. Im noticing it's not that great in the fresh. but game 2 and 3 it's money. ANY RECOMENDATIONS FOR A BALL IN THE FRESH?
What is the best oil for reactive ball? 4:18
My go too heavy oil Asymetrics are.... Motiv Jackal Ghost, Motiv Jackal legacy, Rotogrip UC2
Corner pin is moving quarter foot front or back. it depends which side. Same spot from the first throw
Hey, Packy!!
I know your a 2 handed bowler but my question to you is if a righty rolls his ball down lane at a 11:00 o’clock position but I’m a one hander lefty so, would I roll my ball down lane at a 1:00 o’clock position..
I have a #StormFastPitch that I throw more often cause, I’m more consistent with it than my
#RotoGripHypedHydrid still learning how to throw it cause that ball breaks alot down the lane and I also got a Brunswick TZone for my spares
#BadArsonal
I love watching your TH-cam videos!!
In reference to 10 pin adj, if oil in heads, move in and slow hook it. If heads dry, move right and more up back.
My fav Asymmetrical balls are Hammer Black Widow Ghost and Ebonite Game Breaker Asym.
Thank you for your answer

definitely reality at the top of my bag, im able to create some crazy angles and play straighter when i need to and when it gets a little too strong i can ball down to a zen soul.
Hell Raiser Blaze is my top ball in my bag with the Return second
Usually start with my Black Widow 2.0. But just got a 3d offset haven't thrown it yet but excited to see how she does Friday league.
I recently acquired the Radical Innovator and I really love it. When it is too strong, I go to my Radical Payack!
The 2 balls at the top of my bag are Radical Katana Slash and Motiv Raptor P7
straighter is greater for me at 14-15 mph and 350+ rpms...
Move right a half a board with my feet and keep same mark. We have a cliffed house shot with carrydown.
Radical innovater and I just threw my first 300 with it yesterday
I go old school with a virtual gravity nano for super oily conditions. It came out 12 years ago but has minimal games on it. After that, I have a Motiv Trident and then the 3D Offset.
top a-symm in my bag is BW HyBrid 2.0
I usually throw a tropical surge and my asymmetric ball is a trident abyss which I’ve had for 3 years now
Trident abyss is a hook monster!
@@TheHouseBowling It’s really strong! I’m also about to get a Rhodman Pearl from a friend for only $30!
Lol

I ordered another benchmark ball the radical crypto. I think it would fit my outside and straight with backend game perfectly.
The other balls in my bag from strong to weak are the ultimate nirvana x zone twist u motion and plastic yes all brunswick
I have all sysms. I just bought a 3D attack pearl not drilled yet. Dark web, web pearl, raw pearl, and intel se with a 3 in layout for dry lane.
