In the comics the Gotham Knights are simply called Batman's army. The team I read included Batman, Stephanie brown, Harper Row, Cassandra Cain, Jean-paul valley, Basil Karlo, Katherine Kane and Lucas Fox. This show just created Turner Hayes who don't even exist in DC comics. They have all of these characters and more so and they don't even bother using them.
They should've made the show about the joker's daughter, same story, out could've worked and would've made the relationship with Turner more interesting down the road
I think you hit the nail on the head where the show was better that I thought it would be but since my expectations where bottom of the barrel that’s not saying much. I would also agree the show so far is better than current season flash or Batwoman again though Low bar.
In my opinion, you may be giving this show a bit too much credit. It really isn't just okay at best because I've already noticed many problems with the plot and worldbuilding. The most obvious example is it kills off Batman. We barely have any explanation to how Gotham now knows Bruce is Batman other than him wearing a cowl, which is a really stupid excuse to have his identity revealed. It also doesn't makes sense that Dent and GCPD really believes that a group of crooked kids could actually kill Batman, who's a step ahead of almost every super-villain in the DC Universe. Another thing is that Bruce not giving support to Turner or whatever the "supposed" motive is for murdering him doesn't feel in character of Bruce to do. There's other stuff like how the main cast feels pretty stereotypical and that the Court of Owls have already revealed themselves, but listing everything will just fill up the comments section. Say what you will about the game, but at least it gave Batman a proper death in the opening cutscene and doesn't fundamentally change the Bat Family.
@Jaxxpool With respect to some of the things you said, the GCPD knows those teenaged young adults didn’t murder Bruce. They’re corrupt & were a part of the frame up. The problem is the city’s not questioning that concept fed to them by their corrupt establishment. Though Dent seems moral enough that he’s wants to be certain of the truth instead of only securing a conviction. But it’s still problematic he also won’t question that concept. As for the will but it seems implied that it was a false narrative & Bruce didn’t actually cut Turner off & that it’s also a part of the coverup. Don’t forget the corrupt butler was shown burning the will. But if Bruce did that then maybe he was being a parent to teach Turner that nothing comes free. Like Malcolm on “Arrow” despite being a monster cancelled his son’s credit cards & cut him off of the family will to get him to grow up. And it worked. But then again I don’t know how comic book Bruce disciplined his sons or kept them from being spoiled.
Nah but why they keep killing batman tho like he's batman u can't kill him he's freaking Batman he's Vengance he's The Night he's King of the Super-Orphans like how u gonna keep killing Bats foe
Leaving out the part that it’s literally a Batman Adaptation with only like two Batman Characters, the show isn’t really that bad (first three episodes are solid)
I feel like it would have done well if the main robins and or even start with like Turner just got to know and training with Dick or legitally anyone in the story or Stephanie be the one to know and train him if they couldn't get anyone else I just can't- 😭 there was ways they could have done this and the way they just killed off Bruce off screen not even giving him an introduction just this seems like such a gut punch
Duela could be an interesting character if she was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. Considering the character believes she’s the daughter of not only Joker, but also Catwoman Scarecrow, Penguin, and Riddler.
honestly, i actually enjoyed the first episode. people just always like to complain and think the show is meant to be exactly like the comics. think of it as it’s own thing and you’ll enjoy it lol
Either this show gets cancelled because it was already in production before the WB merger and Gunn and Safran running all DC adaptations or WB doesn’t give a shit if it continues since the show is about D-listers
It's not going to last pass one season But it is not as bad as I thought. Even if it was great people would hate a show about Gotham that didn't have Batman in it
Hollywood needs to go back to the days where not everyone was allowed to get In the writers room and the directors chair. 😒 Shows like these do not benefit the DC brand in any way shape or form this isn’t the early 2010s anymore. If anything poorly written shows like this batwomen and titans only stoke the flames that superhero projects are becoming outdated and bland.
I just finished watching the first episode and the fact that ANYONE believes that some kids killed BATMAN is insane to me. I'm assuming this was a Batman that has been doing his vigilante thing for quite some time now, maybe even decades and has fought his entire rouges gallery at this point...and people automatically believe he was offed by some juveniles?????? This show is just silly and even if I was in my teens I still wouldn't like this show.
But *no one* believes that some kids killed Batman... You watched the episode and didn't get that they were patsies? The evil cop dude even spells it out for you...
wow, your much more generous then me with your score! I hope to see more videos covering the show. It's bad but it's entertaining to watch people roasting it.
Can't wait until WB and James's Gunn cancel this crappy show....It's not the worst thing from the DC CW stuff but not being the worst is still not good
I was definitely confused a lot of the time like when they had turner say they all wears masks I thought it was a hint at him being robin and he didn’t mourn because he knew Bruce was Batman I also confused Harvey for Harvey bullock since he feels like Jim Gordon. Outside of confused I mostly enjoyed it but my expectations were pretty low and it’s only the pilot. I liked it enough to keep watching, at the very least it looks more interesting then Naomi imo
Stephanie Brown was already a potential love interest for Tim Drake. If they wanted to use Tim Drake, then JUST USE HIM. Hell, the fact that Tim became a skilled staff user could have been built into Turner/Tim's story to give him a skill before becoming a hero and diving into the mystery.
Harper Row in the comics is a electrician and mechanical expert. I wouldn't be shocked if the show made her completely different. Steph and Harper are both adopted by Bruce so they should be besties in the show.
I don't understand how Ava Duvernay - an award winning director - couldn't do a grounded story like When They See Us for Naomi. Does CW have a clause that says they have to use visual effects? She literally could've done ANYTHING. Naomi was a blank slate.
The 27th show about Gotham that’s not allowed to show Batman, not allowed to see Batman, not allowed to think about Batman. You just thought about Batman, now WB is suing you
So they end doom patrol dismantle cartoon network but this gets a pass the batgirl movie couldn't have been worse than this and it was cancelled and that had Michael keaton batman and Brandon frasier as firefly 2 dc projects featuring an Oscar winning actor bravo.
I'm not gonna lie, I think the series itself as a whole is alright. I watched most of pilot a day after it was airing, and tbh, I shut it off after I got half way cuz of how lazy some of it felt. But I honestly feel like I can't really judge a series just by one episode. So, I figured, why not actually give the season a watch. And I'll be honest, I'm kinda enjoying it. I'm in episode 4 and it very easily could go sideways any time now, but at the moment, I'm kinda enjoying it, it's alright. Like, it's not the best thing, but it's not terrible. I think it's stupid Turner is the lead and not Dick Grayson or Jason Todd or maybe even Damian, but whatever. Regardless, it's alright. Idk, I like the Court of Owls and from the show so far, they are being handled pretty decent at the moment. But it still could still go sideways.
I genuinely like Gotham knights. It’s getting really good since they have finally solidified the storyline. Granted turner Is sorta lacking given he’s literally Batman’s adopted son.
I like it a lot, they fixed the Joker girl being annoying with the second episode. It's lightweight teeeybop drama in the typical CW mode but it's snappy not Naomi cringey. .. Not Stargirl quality. Not really a SuperHero show more Riverdale. I do like the cast.
Im just putting my opinion out there I seen all the way to episode 8 and I really do like im not super in to the comic probably why i do like it, but im mostly in it for turner's and duela's story archs but that just me i hope it get a second season but i know it wont sadly
Sorry, but why does bat tv shows keep making batman kill the Joker, like what is their werid obsession with this.I mean, as far as we know is that joker is dead and Duela blames batman, and I hope that is just an batman beyond return of the joker situation were it was just an accident, but probably not. Also I hope that they keep Turner from not killing, because we haven't had a proper "I don't kill",since gotham, like in the holy batballs can we just have a batshow or movie where they don't kill for chris sakes.
The worse season of Flash is still better than this, like why is batman in a suit wearing the cowl? An why does the cowl look like it's from wish? And why is there no bat suit💀, at the very least Flash had good character appearances an backstorys
So im three episodes in and all i keep thinking is...why isnt Turner Haynes actually Helena Wayne. Think about it. Helena is a c list chatacter, her home is an alternate earth from the main, she served as robin. She can work up to a really cool huntress design and identity...in fact i think og huntress became that to solve her parents' murder, and she is the daughter of a villain (catwoman) as well as bruce's daughter. Heck her frame up of hiring the thieves to kill her dad for money flies better because she is the daughter of gothams best cat burglar...i mean come on new 52 huntress costume is sitting there gift wrapped
1. The writers don't know how to do exposition. 2. The writers don't know what a D.A. does. 3. The Batman mask looks hilariously cosplay. Not like really impressive cosplay, but like $20 Halloween costume.
The worst part is that they had MANY children to put on the show, from canon we have: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne and Cassandra Cain. If putting them on the show would cause a copyright problem, they could use Helena Wayne or Athanasia Al Ghul as protagonists. That alone would give the series a boost, instead they put a bunch of random characters together, which is obvious that they couldn't use some characters because of copyright and they were seeing which ones they could use and they were putting them just to to fit in. The series has a very good idea, but this bunch of random characters and a son of Batman who don't exist, makes the series bad
Why would you replace Bluebird, Carrie Kelly and Duela Dent by Athanasia Al Ghul, who only appears in one book, and that even fewer people know about? And Helena Wayne isn't very well known either... I'd assume that lots of people still picture Helena Bertinelli when they think of Huntress, because of the *Birds of Prey* movie, and the show *Arrow* , but that's a minor complaint.
Stephanie brown and Harper Row are not random characters. Both are apart of Batman's Gotham Knights in the comics. Although In the comics they just call it "Batman's army." Batman's army also includes Batwing, Orphan, Batgirl, Batwoman, Clayface and Azrael. But no the show uses Turner Hayes, a character who don't exist in DC comics.
@@Dawn_Of_Justice The series is about a son/daughter of Batman, so it is expected that they use someone like that, Stephanie Brown and Harper Row are basically supporting characters, Harper Row is not even a hero anymore, she abandoned her career to take care of her brother. @@seiyajin8151 Harper Row is still active. You must be talking about the new 52 version who quit. She is still Bluebird in what I'm reading. This show just created Turner Hayes who don't even exist in DC comics. They have all of these characters and more so and they don't even bother using them.
I felt like the actor playing Turner was attempting to come off like Bruce/Batman…always calm, cool, and under control. We’ll see if he gets better
They take a property to make a show that has nothing to do with the source material.
I didn't even know this existed!
Damn, didn't we get Gotham already?
I normally keep up with most dc things and I didn't even realise this was coming out let alone having a full season
Duela could be an interesting character if she was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. Considering the character believes she’s the daughter of not only Joker, but also Catwoman Scarecrow, Penguin, and Riddler.
How is CW still in business? They haven’t produced a good show in what feels like decades
The CW was sold for zero dollars
honestly, i actually enjoyed the first episode. people just always like to complain and think the show is meant to be exactly like the comics. think of it as it’s own thing and you’ll enjoy it lol
Either this show gets cancelled because it was already in production before the WB merger and Gunn and Safran running all DC adaptations or WB doesn’t give a shit if it continues since the show is about D-listers
Quick question wouldn't damian wayne make sense as the main character of gotham knights
cant use him because of the movie and cant use the other Robins because they are all on Titans, Stephanie or Cassandra would've fit better as protags
It's not going to last pass one season But it is not as bad as I thought. Even if it was great people would hate a show about Gotham that didn't have Batman in it
Maybe I'm clueless on DC comics but I actually enjoyed the episode, always wanted to see Gotham heroes that are not batman
Hollywood needs to go back to the days where not everyone was allowed to get In the writers room and the directors chair. 😒
Shows like these do not benefit the DC brand in any way shape or form this isn’t the early 2010s anymore. If anything poorly written shows like this batwomen and titans only stoke the flames that superhero projects are becoming outdated and bland.
I knew this was gonna be a failure cause everything Zaslav does fails.
Expected, since it’s coming from the CW
I'm going to stick to the Gotham Knights game instead of this
I just finished watching the first episode and the fact that ANYONE believes that some kids killed BATMAN is insane to me.
How does cw think this show was a good idea to make?
They were sold for zero dollars
wow, your much more generous then me with your score! I hope to see more videos covering the show. It's bad but it's entertaining to watch people roasting it.
I don't think anyone thought this would even be good.
Most importantly, who the hell is Turner Hayes ?!
Not even castiel can save this garbage
This show is like if the four ninja turtles had to solve Batman’s murder, this Robin is Casey Jones and the computer girl is April O’Neil.
I don’t understand why release this with its name with the game coming out 6 months ago, it implies certain characters.
I know it's not DC but I think a Bloodshot series would be good, or even a Hellfire Club limited series.
Is it better or worse than CW Naomi last year that got cancelled
4:42 It is depending on your beliefs on the matter.
I thought it was better than Batwoman and Supergirl pilot.
They need to cancel this like seriously
I genuinely like Gotham knights. It’s getting really good since they have finally solidified the storyline. Granted turner Is sorta lacking given he’s literally Batman’s adopted son.
So bad even Wikipedia hasn't updated their page for episode 2.
Oh gosh… keep this away from S&L’s Earth for the love of God
Why do I feel like this is an adaptation of that Gotham High school comic that came out a few years ago?
Is that Misha fucking Collins
Misha Collins is Harvey Dent I can't with that bro 🤣🤣
I like it a lot, they fixed the
Joker girl being annoying with the second episode. It's lightweight teeeybop drama in the typical CW mode but it's snappy not Naomi cringey. .. Not Stargirl quality. Not really a SuperHero show more Riverdale. I do like the cast.
Gotham Knights had A really good first episode for A CW DC show.
Will you be doing reviews of Superman and Lois? I need some positive vibe from you once The Flash is not giving us that.
episode 1 wasnt even bad and i want to see another episode, like how episode 1 of the flash's lines werent really all that, kinda just gotta wait fr
Im just putting my opinion out there I seen all the way to episode 8 and I really do like im not super in to the comic probably why i do like it, but im mostly in it for turner's and duela's story archs but that just me i hope it get a second season but i know it wont sadly
This video is an exercise in reaching the word limit in an essay
How did they gain access to the Bat computer? Wouldn't Batman have a special code or password to activate, considering his massive paranoia?
There were some things I didn’t even care to try and figure out while watching this 😂
It is nice to see that the gluesniffers, sorry I mean writers at CW. Are giving another chance.
The ESG score must be over 9000 in this one.
Bro put himself through torture for us
What is it with the media treating their main character like shit with characterization, but villains are always treated a bit more decently?
We can all agree that the Batwoman Series is way better than the Gotham Knights Series.
Fucking thank you!!
I can't believe that DC legends got cancelled for that trash
Sorry, but why does bat tv shows keep making batman kill the Joker, like what is their werid obsession with this.I mean, as far as we know is that joker is dead and Duela blames batman, and I hope that is just an batman beyond return of the joker situation were it was just an accident, but probably not. Also I hope that they keep Turner from not killing, because we haven't had a proper "I don't kill",since gotham, like in the holy batballs can we just have a batshow or movie where they don't kill for chris sakes.
Him killing is fine
It'd be interesting if Turner actually turns out to be a genetically engineered Talon, that's why he has no distinct 'personality'.
I agree with your take on the show. I predict it will finish the season but not be renewed.
If you don't know any of these characters, don't gatekeep comic book hero adaptations. That said, this sucks
The worse season of Flash is still better than this, like why is batman in a suit wearing the cowl? An why does the cowl look like it's from wish? And why is there no bat suit💀, at the very least Flash had good character appearances an backstorys
It's CASTIEL!!!!!!!!!!
Best part of the show was the bat cave and the way the talons cut that dudes head off at the end
The CW is less than dirt and the word pathetic doesn’t even begin to describe the mediocrity of their shows.
Will be canceled by the summer probably
This, like a lot of Modern Comic or Superhero "Adaptations", feels more like crappy fan fiction than a faithful adaptation of the Batman Universe.
Although In the comics they just call it "Batman's army."
Batman's army also includes Batwing, Orphan, Batgirl, Batwoman, Clayface and Azrael.
In the end, they took a bunch of tier 2 characters and threw them in the blender, to see what would come out.
@@seiyajin8151 Harper Row is still active. You must be talking about the new 52 version who quit. She is still Bluebird in what I'm reading. I wouldn't say Stephanie brown is unimportant, more like Carrie Kelly is, she is from Earth-31. Stephanie has been around a long time like Barbara Gordon.
This show should of used Azrael if they couldn't use Damian. Like Batman goes missing and Azrael takes his place and recruits his sidekicks.
@@seiyajin8151 - Harper Row is still a hero, she was a big part of the 2022 "The Joker" run. She was the main character of the 15 issues backup story, in which she faced of against Punchline and the Royal Flush Gang, when her brother Cullen starts dating Bluff, the Ace of Diamonds.
And just last year, she was also a hero in *Future State*
I will be watching it just for Misha Collins idc he deserves the world
THEORY: WHAT IF THIS HARVEY IS THE ONE WHO WAS GIVEN PLASTIC SURGERY WITH BRUCES HELP, AND HE LATER TURNS BACK INTO 2 FACE ON HIS OWN. (CHECK COMICS, IF THEORY COULD BE MADE UP)
