I'd never even heard of Volbeat until my trip to band trip to Nashville earlier this year, sometime in march of 2022, the song I heard was "Shotgun Blues", and I don't know if it was the video or the music that got my attention, but I don't regret listening to it over and over for the past 1 and a half months, and because I don't explore music all that much, the only other Volbeat song I've heard other than Shotgun Blues and this one is "Still Counting". Fucking love the old school cartoon and the giant homage to all things metal. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and I miss this style of animation. It's like Hunter S. Thompson, Heavy Metal (the movie and the music genre), car/biker culture, and tattoo art all rolled into one massive ball of awesome.
This comment resonates with me. I also grew up in the 80's, amazing how many of the tv shows we used to watch - like He-Man, Ninja Turtles etc all had metal inspired themes and music. My first love is punk rock (Bad Religion, The Clash, Social Distortion, Misfits) never really got into metal until a few years ago when I started listening to Iron Maiden. I listened to 'Piece of mind' and it immediately hit me in the nostalgic department, reminded me so much of my childhood. Needless to say they have become one of my favorite bands amongst many other metal bands I have discovered along the way. I really like Volbeat as they have managed to fuse multiple genres successfully into one and they execute it really well.

Fucking love the old school cartoon and the giant homage to all things metal. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and I miss this style of animation. It's like Hunter S. Thompson, Heavy Metal (the movie and the music genre), car/biker culture, and tattoo art all rolled into one massive ball of awesome.
This comment resonates with me. I also grew up in the 80's, amazing how many of the tv shows we used to watch - like He-Man, Ninja Turtles etc all had metal inspired themes and music. My first love is punk rock (Bad Religion, The Clash, Social Distortion, Misfits) never really got into metal until a few years ago when I started listening to Iron Maiden. I listened to 'Piece of mind' and it immediately hit me in the nostalgic department, reminded me so much of my childhood. Needless to say they have become one of my favorite bands amongst many other metal bands I have discovered along the way. I really like Volbeat as they have managed to fuse multiple genres successfully into one and they execute it really well.

this is funny because I'm 45 and grew up in Northern Ontario, Canada and was always listening to my parents 50's and 60's rock and then eventually listened to pretty much everything......I was surfing for something a bit different and came across VOLBEAT and this song, which is absolutely awesome....so naturally I checked out other music from this band....well needless to say I am hooked.....:)
