Thank you Rachel and Marina for this interesting advanced lesson! 🙋♂️👍 Guess Marina and I speak the same native language, so it's always exciting to see how she's fluent in English! 😊👏 Sometimes I feel stuck and completely frustrated with my English 😟 *It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears* to reach the level where I'm right now. But then I remember that I've been exploring English for 3 years, and *I'm sooo into it!* 🔥👏 I also feel responsibility for my friends and viewers of my English vlog who believe in me 😌 🙌 But recording English-speaking videos is the process *that is really slow-going.* 😬 _P.S. By the way, today (March 8) is International Women's Day in many countries including mine, so I want to wish you only positive things, be happy, stay safe and healthy!_ 😊🙌
@@frankgradus9474 You'll definitely be successful in spoken English if you learn in a native, consistent way 👍Good luck and have a great day, my friend 🙋♂
I am greatly into your lessons! You have a wonderful American accent and this helps learners like us to understand natives. This lesson was out of this world!
Interesting collab! I _really_ enjoyed Marina's Russian lessons, back in the day; she's definitely a mentor of mine (unofficially) 💙 Serious question, from someone who has taught ESL but had to learn English - as did Marina - myself. Can we ever be _fully_ rid of the pervasive constructs of our native language? For example, at 2:07 Marina says "explain her" which is EXACTLY how we'd say it in Russian: объяснить ей. But, in English, without the "to" - explain TO her - the meaning changes 😉
Thank you girls!!! Learning English trying to speak like a native is an UPHILL BATTLE, really TOUGH-GOING, especially if you don't live in USA, England etc.. making our dreams come true has never been PICNIC. That's why we dream, because it's challenging, very far away from our reality. But I'm gonna keep on using this and others channels to learn new vocabulary while having fun. Bye bye!!!
Great positive attitude! Maybe you want to check out the videos on our channel - we run communication sessions with international students aimed at real, useful and effective discussion, debate and communication :)
I knew them all. Problem is, they never come to me while I'm speaking. I even keep in my phone a long list of idioms I hear and I go through them regularly. Understanding idioms is not a big deal, remembering them when you need them in a phrase is a horse of a different color.
A lot of students have this problem, they struggle to take their passive vocabulary to their active vocabulary. The only real way of doing this is to use your English as much as possible and put yourself in situations where such phrases and expressions might be demanded by the context. Take a look at our group communication classes - unlimited classes - 1 month free trial!
@@voluble-englishspeakingclu2336 I've been living in the USA for 20 years and I don't know anyone here who speaks my language. So I do use English a lot. I guess non native speakers fall into a habitual routine. We tend to use the same words over and over.
@@gigipizzuto4068 Yeh, that is true. I had no idea that you had been living in the States for so long but. I have the same problem here in Georgia, I cannot get past a certain language level
Good job Rachel and Marina for teaching us 21 idioms in English.we can try to use them In the sentences and to try also to speak fluently and fastly as you the native.
It is really good to watch this video clip and to learn that how to use the new phrases instead of "it's hard" and these both teachers are always trying their best to Share knowledge and experience to us,means, native and non-native speakers!!!

What an amazing video, huh?! I feel so happy thinking about the fact that I can read, speak, write, listen and even think in english, and I'm not even 14! The first time I saw you, was on the "thinking in english" video, and I remember I felt so happy when I saw I used all those tips without even noticing!
Here in Vietnam 🇻🇳, we never say « it’s hard! », we say « it’s not easy! ». 😂👍 PS: it’s true, Vietnamese people always think positive and even to answer « No » to a question, they’ll say « YES, we can’t do that! ». 😅
that is interesting. I find it interesting how culture can sometimes be shown in small things like this. In the UK, the standard reply to "How are you?" is "Not too bad" which I think shows the general pessimistic nature of British people!
Rachel Good morning. You are great teacher, I love your pronunciation and grammar lessons are impactful. I have always make your video in my priority list of watching.
Great video! I love the section where idiom is explained with other idiom. Which by the way I noticed you did that too :-) "A hiccup is something minor. It doesn’t MAKE LIFE REALLY HARD, just a little inconvenient." Isn't that great! Love your video's. Regards, Richard.

I thought at some stage of learning English through TH-cam that I should follow up with 1 single teacher but it seems I was mistakenly wrong... I enjoyed this lesson with you both guys.
The phrase "blood, sweat, and tears," used to denote considerable time and effort needed to do something, isn't often used in speech or writing. It sounds a bit goofy and belabored. I would say it's not appropriate to suggest that non-native speakers start using it in common speech.
There needs to be context for this one. The phrase is almost always used in a melodramatic way where I am. For those that might not know this means its overly emotional - exaggerating for effect. I wouldn't say it comes off goofy in my area (the American South) but people will take it as someone describing the situation in a needlessly extreme way.
@@FormerRuling Yes, I agree with your assessment-- I am from the US Midwest. I was using the term "goofy" loosely, to signify "sounding ridiculous (when used to describe mundane matters)." "Needlessly melodramatic, depending on context," would have been more precise.
Woow, thank you so much Rachel! It's a very complete video with valuable info. 👏❤️ And thank you to Marina too, I hope one day to have a good pronunciation like her.
