  • Though I was super on the fence about changing the way I display my figures, these tribunal style displays have already really appealed to me and as I have a serious minifigure obesssion I felt this was the time to try them. Hope you like the video and thank you for the support :D

    Amazing! I made some pretty much identical to this but with 4 tiers. Hate to say I used non Lego brand bricks for the parts you can’t see. I had tons from job lots but couldn’t just throw them away! Great vid!

    My current CFM collection is broken down into several ziplock bags! I have wrestled with various displays I would like to build for them, but I am going to hold off for now. As your LEGO room build has inspired me to resign my LEGO room. Well build out, and actually move it to another location in my house. Thank you for that!

    I’ve made similar minifig stands with the black steps. I don’t have a lot of space so my minifigs are in a display case from a hobby store (supposed to be used to display baseballs or other sports items). Clear plastic on all 4 sides and the top. No glare from the lights. I swap out the figures when a new CMF series comes out.
    I also have a larger case (supposed to be for an American football) with glass on 3 sides and the top with a mirrored back, which I have the botanical succulents in.

    I think lighting inside the shelves should help with transparency of the glass front.
    Great minifig display btw! I might need to do this myself for my non CMFs.

    Very cool update ! There is special glass that doesn’t reflects the light used for paintings in frames. Maybe that’s worth checking out.

    If you put the stands on their sides you culd attach the legs from the backs and be much less likely to damage the figures feet!

    It is a great display!! Insane how many minifigs you have :P very cool.
    One thing that oculd save a bit of weight and money is that to me the double row of one by...... bricks looks unnecessary since the minifigure plates only need the support in the middle to accept minifigs?
    Do those plates easily kink over backwards without them? Or is it extra sturdiness to the display against buckling when handling?
    And maybe double one by two's on the corners of each plate could suffice, but those are maybe harder to come by/more expensive then just any one by ... bricks?
    Sorry if i am rambling, just a lot of thoughts here.
    Hope you are doing well in the mean time and having fun.

      Planning on bagging them up in groups of 10 or so and giving them away at Steam (the event in Swindon in October) I don’t want them to go to waste. Hopefully they’ll be able to find good homes that way.

    I don't really collect mini figures... but that shelf of Disney and muppets... yeah that one makes me squeal and want it.... shame they are soooooo expensive here... I really shouldn't start because it's really hard to stop! I know it's possible to get non reflective glass...but probably more expensive. Is there a mat finish acrylic?

  • @BrianBorges-ez3ls
    @BrianBorges-ez3ls ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial, Johanna! Beautiful build, but your magnetic board was pure genius (and a great option for those who lack bricks.) Maybe add a ceiling mounted art-spotlight to light the whole display? (The have ones that plug into the reg outlet.) My only minifigs on display are the Disney Robin Hood I got last week, and my OG white spaceman I got in '74('75?). Technical point: Where you have your circular vlog light?...It's reflecting in your left glasses lens in way that makes you look like Mad-Eye Moody. (Which is AWESOME!!!!)💕

    • @HighTeaToys
      @HighTeaToys  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did love my minifigure whiteboard. But it was really space intensive compared to this solution. As my minifigure addiction shows no sign of slowing down, more space was definitely needed. Good idea about the art spotlight. Worth looking into for sure.
      Yea I have the light. I need it very much in this room without windows. We’ll just need to deal with the mad eye moody look for now as taking the glasses off is not really an option :p

      @@HighTeaToys As someone who HAS walked into walls without my glasses, I literally feel your pain!😄 If you're able, lowering the ring-light (remembered the name) by 4 -6 inches may angle the reflection off-camera. If not, Mad-Eye Johanna works for me!

    Looks great! I like this way of displaying your minifigures collection …
    Just one thing; it is a bit distracting to me to see the light reflection of the ‘studio light’ in your glasses, it’s not helping me to focus… maybe an idea to sit at a different angle or to move the light?
    But further on all is well. Keep up the good work 😉!
