As someone who is newly getting into firearms, it is refreshing to find your channel focusing on practicality over style. Feels like vast majority of gun channels are only showing off several thousand dollar guns.
I'm a newbie as well. This is my first firearm I bought & I pick it up tomorrow. How do you like yours? I bought a few boxes of hollow points for my use and a few regular ones for practice
Fantastic video on the 856! I bought a stainless steel 856 in April of 2023. I’ve put something close to 1500 rounds of +P ammo thru it and it’s a great handling shooter.
Thanks for your post on the Taurus 856. I've had mine since Taurus first introduced it to the market. I'm carrying it today. For me, everything about the revolver as manufactured is great as is. There is nothing I feel is needed to improve the carry experience. This is one of many Taurus handguns I own.
excellent introduction to a basic, proven, self-defense handgun. most normal civilians who are new to handguns ought to start with a steel, not airweight, snubbie, 38sp revolver. the only drawback is 38sp ammo is pricier than 9mm. taurus offers the best bang for buck in new revolvers. i have three. lifetime warranty. intuitive manual of arms. different grips and ammo choices make it reliably yours. pretty much ok in all anti2a jurisdictions where a handgun is allowed (taurus 856 is even on the massachusetts & california rosters). my only complaints with these latest taurus revolvers aren’t dealbreakers: 1. too small for me factory grips are held by a very tight roll-pin, not a screw. a royal pain to tap out. i also swapped out to a hogue grip and added a bicycle inner tube over it to cover the backstrap. huge improvement to my shooting comfort. 2. ugly black finish feels dull and picks up scratches easily. i only add that, besides practice and a decent holster, get a solid leather gun belt. thanks for a great video, subscribed.
I was very skeptical about them at first to be honest, because of Taurus's history with other models, but the 856 and G3 really made me a believer. I didn't even think about the states with anti 2a laws but you're absolutely right. Thanks for watching, and especially the sub. Appreciate you!
Sir, I suggest, respectfully, that you slow down a bit. You talk way too fast, not unlike a kitchenware salesman. Many people have the mindset that a fast talker shouldn't be trusted. I'm sure that's not your presentation because you have no motive other than providing information. Just a suggestion.
An equivalent 6 shot revolver made by Smith and Wesson would be there a model 10 or 686, and those new, or about $600 for the model 10 and 750 for the 686, but Taurus is putting out there aluminum frame if I am correct, revolvers for half the cost
The IWb option I found that provides greatest level of "invisible" comfort is where the unit had the greatest depth of set below the belt line. Designs of most Kydex versions and many others configurations I found just don't sit deep enough. However Deanna and her team at relentless tactical have a leather holster for the 856/605 snubby variations that works really well and provides that almost undetectable IWb ride, your mieage may vary. I know first hand how much $ enthusiasts can spend in search of the right holster to fit our exact body type, and I wish I had tried relentless' option first. For pocket carry, the Desantis 111 MK has hit the sweet spot for my needs. thank you for the great 856 2 inch review compilation.
I think that are worth more than they cost. Some of others aren’t worth what they go for. It is a tool. Not a show piece. Mine have always done what I needed it too. And once I shot it for a while the Trigger became awesome.
As someone who has been ripped off by Charter Arms & Rock Island revolver from everything I've seen the 856 is miles ahead of those. And this guy advocating you take your gun apart and start doing gun smithing is a good way to ruin a gun.
Hey practical you ever thought about doing more higher prices fire arms. Along the lines of 500 to 600. I would like your input on the Glock line specifically Glock 30 line which will be my first purchase. Not telling you what to do but it be interesting to see more firearms in 500 price range and a little bit over to see if they are practical. Idk I just like your channel.
Dude, there are a billion videos on Glocks... Seriously, if you have that much of a hard-on for Glocks, go watch James Reeves on TFB TV. He's a diehard Glock boi and he knows his shit.
I love mine but i have to say, at the range those sights are abysmal on mine. They must be out of alignment or something . Was shooting at 10-15 yards and it was going way off to the left and down. Had to readjust my sight picture to get it on point of aim. Even happened with single action I also have that same kydex holster, it’s way to hard to get it out of the holster This isn’t a skill issue either Iv been extremely cautious of my trigger pull, even went point blank range single action. Consistently goes left .
I've seen multiple reviewers say this same thing, shooting down and to the left consistently. I don't believe this is a user error, just something to keep note of when pulling the trigger
@@drawster00oh i know . The low left issue is common due to bad trigger pull. That’s why in my comment i even mentioned it happens with single action. In fact i just went to the range yesterday. Same issue even at 3 yards (point blank). It’s definitely the sights lol.

Thanks again,
Great data on the 856
I bought the 3 inch model and installed pachmeyer compact grips. I carry this revolver quite frequently and am very impressed with it.

Thanks for the great review! I have a Taurus 605 and I want the 856 too! I just like the simplicity of a revolver. 👍👍💥😊

Thank you for sharing sir, keep up the good work 👍🏻
Nicely done.
Bought my 856 in 2020 under $300. it is worth it!

Terrific review and appreciate the advice on handling a revolver- learned a lot! 👍👍👍
I have the same pistol I couldn't find nowhere where it said it was plus P rated thanks for the info

What brand of speedloader is good to have for this?
Nice and very detailed video
Thx bro 👍
I have to wonder if the Wolf springs causes the hammer strike weaker.
That’s my everyday carry
Extremely VALID points !!!! 👍👍🇺🇸
Good video!!!! Thank you!
Interesting to note that other TH-cam reviews have shown the single action pull as significantly less, closer to 3lbs.
Great video, Overall

I put a galloway precision spring kit in mine, and it made the trigger much better. To each their own i guess.
well, the new 856 and the older bobbed hammers dont fit
A six screw clyinder?😮

@@Saintbow I just like this guy's channel. Also I have a hard on for revolvers not glocks. Lol
All I need to know is "Its a Taurus".....im done.
Not if it was the last revolver on earth.
Thanks for sharing though.
To each their own. Thanks for watching!
Have you tried one?
Sounds like something a Glock-boi would say.

Bro I’m a retired LEO and a former firearms instructor. The majority of Cops can’t shoot worth a damn and you know this.😂

Finally someone who knows how to load and unload a revolver
@randolphtolbert3825 I don't know who you worked for but I know it was not a state police agency.
