    I bought a brand new KV100 G4TR 10 speed back in 1976 for use on the family ranch..and it has done many many hours of work..apart from tyres,tubes,spark plug,airfilter and oils as required for maintenance,it is completely original including the engine internals..still has a tonne of compression and always starts first kick..They dont make em last as long as this anymore without complete restoration..shes an honest true survivor..44 years old and counting.

    Hi, just found your videos. Going to be watching with great interest. Learning bikes, I've restored cars, but bikes are fairly new to me. Looking forward to learning.

      +gremmann Thanks. Why not subscribe? You can binge watch this series and then move on to another bike I restored.

    A simple twist of the throttle would make my 1972 Bighorn lift its heavy front-end.

    even my 1974 g5 100cc is able to go up hills at just off idle....having ridden a 90cc more modern reed valve bike....if that 90cc isnt at 5000+ rpm its going to bog out and stall.
    on my 100....ya just go up the hill at a nice 3 mph and a "pop..pop...pop" out the exhaust.....over 25 mpg and BRAAAAAAP out the exhaust.
    makes for a nice street bike.....or, a nice enduro...low end torque, high end power.

    I just bought a 74 100 it Scott park and getting gas but I think it's out of time how do I check the timing of the rotary valve

    • @thejunkman
      @thejunkman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +chevyboybrownjb83 Well if you have a service manual it tells you, but the timing of the rotary valve is not adjustable without modding the valve itself. You probably have a vacuum leak or your jetting is off. I have videos and pages about this on my website, check them out.

      REPLACE YOUR EXHAUST PACKING!!!!
      i also have a 74 100....i rebuilt it and it ran....ok. i was about to go and change all the jetting
      then i replaced the exhaust packing.....and it started running PERFECT.
      now all i do is lean the needle up by one position for the summer, and set it back to the middle for winter.
      the rotary valve can be cut.....but you can only put it on backwards....meaning the face that should touch the engine block is thwords the outside.
      this usually breaks the valve....
      theirs IS NO WAY to get it like 180 degrees off like a distributor....it either fits or it doesnt. (but like i said, it can fit inside out)

    Is a CDI and an ignition coil the same thing?

    • @thejunkman
      @thejunkman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      CDI is a type of system. And ignition coil is a component within an ignition system.

    You didn't mention Bridgestone ?, Kawasaki owe a lot of their disc valve technology to Bridgestone Motorcycles.

    • @thejunkman
      @thejunkman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yamaha had them too, they all did. Kawasaki probably had the most development IMO.

    Those rims aren't stock. The "Hatta" forks were named for the engineer who designed them and, as innovative as they were, there is a good reason Hatta suspensions have vanished from the marketplace. Testers at the time noted that there was no combination amongst the myriad of suspension settings that actually worked. Mr. Hatta's brilliant innovation was scrapped for the 75 model. Kawasaki lost a golden opportunity when they rejected the design rather than solving its inadequacies.
