    At least, on temperate planets, having an air-tight room (without ventilator) will set the temperature to 22°C (no matter the outdoor temperature) in it which will protect plants.

    • @Amaroq64
      @Amaroq64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm trying out starting on an arid planet, and airtight rooms normalize the temperature and keep radiation out too, without ventilators.

    if you get radiated fog on temperate worlds that will also destroy your plants, happened to my first plants so now I always keep them in airtight rooms.

    You should have mentioned forcefield emitter blocks, they are useful for partitioning the rooms and keeping oxygen in combat where battle damage can break the airtight walls

    • @jamessheesley5484
      @jamessheesley5484 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you still wish to use the glass doors you can use the forcefields to keep the air in, if you look at a glass door you will note that they are not air tight because they do not have forcefields.

    • @Spanj
      @Spanj  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      good point, the forcefield blocks are very useful.

      @@Spanj ahhh, good idea - up till now I'd not gotten any out of my box of lego, because I simply turn O2 off.
      (having been a commercial diver the tech. just irritates me, but I want to put a build on the workshop and I am grudgingly making the concession to at least try to have part of the vee-hickle airtight.)
      Now, I had actually thought about making individual little glass-sealed garden mini-pods, each with a light and air vent, (coz my pyramid is an eight sided one and comes with a bizarrely complex sculpture of shapes on the inside, therefore would suit breaking up plots into 3x3 in my case, but anyway, obviously force fields would be a much better option. (It has been irritating me that to get things to make stuff to make things that get stuff Eleon force you to add more and more weighty blocks - to seal your elavators and put behind blast doors and ....just .... grrrr!)
      Cheers!

    Thanks Spanj, I always have fun trying to find the air leaks. I have a tendency to build my farms out of windows, they're a bugger for leaks lol. May I ask if you would do a "How to" on thrusters please? I have no clue which I should use, how many and where they can and can't be placed in terms of what is immediately around them. Again thanks Spanj.

    • @Spanj
      @Spanj  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No Problem Wozadamada. I will be doing one on how to build an SV/HV/CV in the future so keep an eye out, thrusters are no trouble, you can put them anywhere, just dont stand on them ;)

  • @NZ_Wanderer
    @NZ_Wanderer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Silly question, do you have to have ventilators covering every airtight room?

    • @Spanj
      @Spanj  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the environment, on a breathable planet, only where you have a farm really. In space or non-breathable planet, yes. If you dont want to be using suit oxygen in your base/ship. People can be quite clever with vent shafts and non airtight blocks like walkway blocks etc to use 1 or 2 vents across their whole base or ship but one hull breach and the whole thing decompresses.

    Another victory for technical excellence and a spanjtastic video. I am definitely a Spanj Fanj. So is mi kat Smudj
    If only I had had a Spanjstructor when I was learning stuff at school and college.
    anyway.... a timely video for me, as I've only just conceded to applying air in-world and waited until the end of a mahoosive pyramid build with loads of weird fittings and fixtures, including blast doors and elevators. (Darn it that one last block to seal off an elevator doesn't fit under the curve of my glass roof now..... so I can't put it where I wanted it... or the entire design must be modified. Gahhhhhh!!!) Of course, just because the International Space Station is only 4.8 mm thick, is no scientific rationale at all as to why we in Empyrion build flight vessels out of one metre thick steel blocks. "Its a kind of magic!".
    Anyway, thanks for this - as usual, clear, concise and helpful.
    I shall have to see if I can scrape up the price of a pint for you in your wosname thing. Your patronise me thing (or whatever it's called)

    Hello, very interesting. I have this game only since a few days, and I'm learning so much, and still have so much to learn (I have a lack of sleep, cause I've got plenty of design ideas boucing in my brain while I try to sleep) ! This game is so rich !
    Your demonstration is nice, and fits my desire to design ships with security measures against leaks of oxygen : build rooms with security doors, like in real warships.
    The next step would be a possibility to trigger logics with events like leak of oxygen which would trigger an alarm (sound and red light) and confinement of breached rooms.
    I should ask to the devs, if it doesn't exist yet.
    Another trigger I'd wish would be the possibility to auto-switch fuel generators when sun goes down and solars generators aren't working anymore.

  • @Xmystic811
    @Xmystic811 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ventilator wont run unless the oxygen is on and oxygen won't stay on unless you are air tight so running ventilator to regulate temp won't work if not already airtight.

  • @parajacks4
    @parajacks4 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My plants were growing fine on the temperate planet, then a radiation fog came over and killed all but the hardiest.

    • @thorondir42
      @thorondir42 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A radiation fog does not effect airtight rooms on a planet, so bringing your plants to the interior will protect them (but you dont need a ventilator, just an airtight room)
