I had one of these at home for a while, it was a great grinder, very easy to use and the doser resulted in a nice clump free mount in the PF. What it does need is some kind of timer system so you can grind only what you need into the doser for the home environment. It was also a great grinder to work on. The dosing chamber could be easily adapted to single dose if you had a little creativity and access to some metalwork facilities.

Amen to that! Same situation here... I had a local glass blower make me a custom bean hopper, but having trouble finding a wood worker to make a custom lid. :)
I've recently procured one of these. However, mine is missing the hopper entirely. Do you have idea if these are safe for a dosed grind? Essentially free-spinning burrs, throw a dose of beans in, and wait for it to empty out? I'm intermittent with my espressos and don't roast too much coffee, so I'd rather not have a load sitting in a hopper. Secondly, is your hopper perfectly circular? Any imgur (or similar) link to a picture of it? I have an engineering lathe and intended to make a mini-hopper for single dosing. I'd offer to contemplate making a lid if you need it.
@@naycnay I have one and the Macap M2 hopper is a good fit and also very cheap comes with the lid too and bean blanker and holds a perfect 250 grams for a single bag
Hey SCG, I know this is an old vid...I am stuck right at the beginning...he sticks a screwdriver in the black burr cover and just pops it off...?!?!? Wha..? Is he prying it off? Is there something under there? Will it break if not done correctly? If I can't get that cover off, I can't do the rest. Also, I'm doing this for a friend who lives over an hour away and can only get over there once a month. I was just over there and had to put the grinder cleaning on hold for fear of breaking that black cover. Next time I go over there I would like to get past that cover...also...been years since properly cleaned, so there's that. Thanks!
If Nuova Simonelli made some sort of adapter, that you could screw in instead of the clear part of the doser, to grind directly in the basket, lots of "home baristas" would be VERY happy. Because if you want comercial quality but home quantity of grinding, your choice of grinders is very limited.

Have this at home but just wish I could find a shorter hopper for it so it would fit under a cabinet in the kitchen. Great grinder though.
