Michael Mann really stepped into another world when creating this film. The selection of the music is just a masterpiece. No one has come even close to this movie. I'm at awe each time I watch it.
Succinctly well-said. Back in the 90s with no internet, took me forever to track down all the songs from various artists/albums. Finally when the official soundtrack CD released, it was still missing some.
if you didn't know, Michael Mann directed also the first seasons of Miami Vice, the first episode the pilot being my favourite one. it's like a whole movie of itself being one hour and 30 minutes but it has the Michael Mann fingerprints all over it, on the music shots, the surrealism of the whole scenery, it almost transports you in the character's skin.
I always thought that "Heat" was the masterpiece of Michael Mann, but last year I watched " Public Ennemies" for the second time (I had never seen it since its release in theaters), and woooow, now, I'm wondering if this film is not superior by some aspects...
