  • J.John in conversation with Ray and Vi Donovan.
When Christopher Donovan left his parents' house one May evening in 2001, little did he know that a few hours later he would die following an unprovoked attack by a gang who were high on drugs and drink.
Watch as his parents, Ray and Vi Donovan, tell their inspirational story of forgiveness and restoration.

These wonderful people changed my life! When they told their story to a room full of supposedly hard prisoners I promise there was not a dry eye in the room. I can't relate to the religious part as an atheist but it doesn't matter because the principle of finding the good in humanity is universal. I can't begin to comprehend the pain Ray and Vi go through every time they relive the most painful time of their lives. Selfless doesn't even begin to describe their actions and if ever anyone loses faith in humanity I recommend you speak to either one of them for 5 seconds. Both of you are life heroes of mine as is Christopher and there isn't a word that could ever do any of you justice. Love you both forever and however much it hurts always try to think of how many good ripples have resulted. I know its no consultation but Christopher has changed the world more than anyone could in 1000 years and for that you should be proud. RIP is the normal thing to say but in this case it's inappropriate. He's still busy changing peoples lives and I hope that never changes. Your family will be forever in my heart and hope to see you again sometime. Keep up the good work! x

I think it's actually forgiveness in Christ that makes all the difference here. None of us are good enough to be forgiven, but the beauty of Christ's forgiveness is that it's given by grace (iw it's undeserved). That's the message that Ray and Vi share here - I hope you will know this grace yourself one day and may God bless you:)

For non native speakers not understandable. The undertitles are pretty useless.
All I could get out of it is, their son was murdered. After forgiving the murderes they started a kind of charity for prisoners.
