This is full of very inaccurate information. They dont mind being "touched" by any other momley It's a troop, not a jerd. Nany monkeys can play with other baby monkeys the same age, and no mom is never their only playmate. Please do more research and speak fscts that are accurate. I can't watch the whole thing. I just have a hard time with the inaccurate information.
Monkeys are very concerned about being touched by others. If you read only one page of a book and then tell me what you think of it, I won't be persuaded. I can't comment because it is the same situation. Sorry.
@monkeys_ i study primates. They don't mind being touched. They do mind a whole different species messing with them. That is a big difference from being touchy. It isn't about persuading. It is a fact. I don't know what book you are reading, but no wild animal likes being touched by humans. Grooming each other within their troop is a huge part of their social interactions and is, in fact, incredibly important to them.
Or maybe they are not individually identified. They are not like the monkeys in the zoo. When monkeys groom, they choose individuals to groom. Not just anyone. If you claim to be a researcher, I suggest you do more painstaking actual fieldwork. If you are going to call yourself a scholar again and write a critical comment, shouldn't you do it by watching the entire video? I say that if you cut out a part of the video and make critical comments on it, it has no value. The same can be said for papers.
@monkeys_ my comment has value. And they will groom up the rank to gain favor. They will groom anyone in their troop that will allow them. And that is in the wild, not the zoo. You can act like I have no knowledge all you want. The point is, they are not as touchy and offish to contact as you claim. My example was simply grooming. The lowest monkey in the hierarchy will groom the leader of the troop it is how their social structure works. They even use grooming as an apology. I am sorry you have an issue with the criticism I gave. I know about social structure, hierarchy, that a females status is passed down to all of her daughters and how they will use grooming to make friends, apologize, and show their loyalty to their leader. My whole point is that touch is something they all need every day by multiple members of the troop. Maybe I will watch the rest.... you need to understand you don't know everything. Hell I don't know everything goes. But don't get ridiculous because you have gotten criticism you don't like. I will still give the rest of your video a chance......
As I have written many times, monkeys choose who they groom. I don't particularly need you to accept that, and if you have objections, you can have them, I can't change it either, so I will continue to make my point. You write that the lowest ranking ones groom the leaders, but doesn't that mean it's important who grooms whom? You also write that grooming uses social order as a tool. Doesn't this also mean that it's important who grooms whom? Don't you write it that way too? It reads like you're assuming you're denying my video, and are trying desperately to find a reason. Also, the subject of my video is not grooming in the first place. You can't just cut it out and say that's all. You are free to watch the video or not. You are also free to comment without watching the video. However, you have written that you have no intention of watching the video and have written critical comments, but do I still have to respond favorably? The motivation of many creators to make videos is heavily influenced by comments. I am neither a mother nor God, I am a human being who lives by emotions. TH-cam is not TV. Why is this monkey making these noises?
