    Tina stayed with Ike for so long because she witnessed unhealthy relationships in her childhood & it was the norm & Ike didn’t love her. ❤❤❤

    I think childhood trauma (abandonment), familial/societal pressures, & not having a solid support system were the reasons she stayed so long.

    I honestly can see Whitney doing a good job as Tina Turner. Now looking back at it, Whitney did kinda favor Tina Turner’s flamboyant attitude in a way. Whitney had the dramatic laugh, the calm and breathy tone in her voice just like Tina. Also, the voice, Whitney definitely could’ve pulled it off without the lipsync. But, Angela Bassett was the best choice especially because she’s an actual actress.

    Ruth Carter styling Angela Bassett and Tina Turner herself doing Angela’s hair and makeup and was everything ❤️❤️❤️.
    Fun fact: Angela Bassett lip synched Tina Turner’s songs while Laurence Fishburne actually sang using his real voice.

    People have to recognize leaving an abusive relationship takes seven tries. You also have to take in account the childhood Tina Turner had. Tina recalled seeing the abuse her mother suffered from her father and to put the icing on the cake, Tina’s mother was emotionally unavailable to her. She wanted Tina to stay with Ike not knowing how horrible a person he was to her daughter and that he had money. There are lots of factors of why people (women) stay in abusive relationships; whether it’s for the kids, the fear of being lonely, upsetting their partner, financial problems etc.

      This is the same thing that happened with John Depp and Amber herd. His mother was very physically abusive to her children as a result he became a very passive person and very emotionally vulnerable. He also became very emotional attached to people and was extremely kind to point Of giving away his wealth to help out people who he had just meant to but really needed help. He would kept giving to them until they said they were good. He's very lucky the people he chose to help didnt take advantage but recognized the unconditional good intentions of a truly kind person (it's how he gained a lot of friemd who want the famous.)
      So here we have Is a very empathetic and giving person whose emotionally vulnerable and used to severely abusive women.
      Then you have Amber who had abused female partners in her past (yet never male which I find interesting) Is known to be a very snobby and egotistical person whose own mother and sister were scared of her because of violent behavior. She of course pounced on a name she saw was emotionally vulnerable and when she realized that he would never physically harm her back she became abusive to the point of cutting off his finger at one point ( Which he then lied about to a doctor who caught him out in attempt to protect her by saying that there was no way that that wasn't done by another person. At which point Johnny evoked the patient-doctor confidence law which is way more strict with PF so The doctor couldn't contact authorities)
      When he was explaining one of the abuse of situation where she was literally hitting him in the face multiple time while following him from room to room. At one point he stopped and asked her was she done she reponded by hitting him in the face again. He then tried to go on the bathroom Amber cried out like her foot that she had stuck in the door had been hit Despite the fact that this woman had been hitting him primarily in the face for the past hour he still opened the door to check on her then tended to her supposedly bruised foot why his face was bleeding.
      His sister said he used to do this with Their mother go from room to rom to escape her and when he got truly terrified he would go in the bathroom and lock the door to hide from their mother.
      I feel it's also important to note that He was the one who asked for a divorce. She then tried the sympathy trick of trick saying how sorry she was, he didn't take her back. So she tries to get one of her friends to play along a stage assault by him. She said she had left something at their primary house and he was like sure you can come get it. His bodyguard had beg him not to go along. Johnny finally agreed to allow him to come but to stay outside and when he got there her friend ran in screaming "stop Johnny get off of her" with a phone audio recording. When security ran in and saw the situation he simply said "boss lets just leave" and stood in of Johnny as he walked by her. She and her were both shocked that he had actually brought somebody with him.
      That one simple instance of bringing another person along made her realize she could get Johnny alone to neither hurt him or blackmail him. She Was also insulted and her ego was hurt because she felt embarrassed she got caught so to try to do the same to him she demanded that her lawyer get her some money and some of their assets (which Johnny freely gave Even though there was no legal obligation for him too).
      Her ego was still hurt that he left her embarrassed her and that she wasn't getting a rise out of him she falsely accused him of physical abuse and posted pics of Black and blue bruises on her face. Which if severe as they appeared should have swollen her eye shut and nose should have also been swollen but it was just black and blue. The very next day the bruises disappeared and never appeared again. she didn't even have the decity to ask her makeup artists reapply the makeup.
      There is a whole checklist of things that abusers do to intimidate their victims Amber heard checked off every single one during Court trials.
      There are psychologists who have also reviewed them doing their court trials and every single one of them believes Johnny story about his finger getting cut off. His demeanor Body language and the fact that he told the story the exact same way every single time tells every professional that he was remembering a truly traumatic experience. Every single time he's had to repeat this story and Amber is seen smriking.
      while the only thing that can be proven of John is that he called her names mostly "flabby ass" and it was in response to her. Verbal abuse is definitely a real thing but this woman literally cut off this man's finger, took a Shit on their bed because he chose to stay At his body guard's homr after a phone argument knowing there would be abuse when he got home, she also exhibited psychopathic behavior doing a court trial about her supposed abuse and And in her "I'm so sorry baby" text messages when Johnny specifically brought up the abuse she gas lit him knowing it would be proof. she was only sorry for "any harm she caused him" or any pain he suffered in thei marriage(classic abuser language)"
      I doubt anyone to read this far but if you do I feel it's important to note that Johnny only counter sued her when people believed her lawsuit against him nothing else that she did made him admit to Her abusing him he defended and protected her numerous times.
      He even said it was the fact that people believe he could do something that he knows from personal experience is a horrific thing to inflict on somebody else. I also think it's important to remember that it was his mother who did this to him. A mother who he took care of when she became Destitute even though he had been avoiding all contact with her from the time he Left home at 16. Still until the time she died Johnny take care of her and was the only one of his siblings to mourn her death. You may be thinking well of course it's his mom regardless of what she did but the rest of her children thought he was crazy for that because of the fact that she never changed nor apologize she didn't have in it her she just truly hated her kids even on her death bed but Johnny still cared for her.
      According to his siblings Johnny received the most severe abuse because he reminded her of their father which says a lot because with them she abused them So severely that they don't truly associate her with being their mother.

    I think Tina liked Angela Bassett's performance and thought she did an amazing job (which she did) but just like Ike didn't like the way he was portrayed in this movie, Tina didn't like the way she was portrayed either. Tina never felt like a victim and was never this super soft spoken little weak woman, Tina could hold her own and defend herself. She also wished the movie had been more truthful and followed closer to her autobiography....but it's hard to condense an entire person's life into a two our movie and you can't take away from Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburne's performance they both deserved academy awards....

    • @Butterfly22593
      @Butterfly22593 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The movie didn't portray her as soft spoken or weak. It's not fair to say abuse victims are either. She said the movie was pretty accurate except for the rape scene. As for the book, the movie would've been too violent if it had stuck to the book

    • @rosechardonnay5351
      @rosechardonnay5351 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Butterfly22593 with all due respect she never said that the movie was accurate to her life. She always said, when asked about the movie in interviews, that she wishes it could've been more truthful. Her 1986 autobiography, I Tina, really tells the true story. But I think Tina's biggest gripe with the movie was the way she was written and portrayed, in other words it wasn't accurate to how Tina Turner was in real life. They made her character too submissive when in real life Tina wasn't like that at all. They made both the Ike and Tina characters too one dimensional.

    Laurence Fishburne was abusive in his first marriage and had to go to therapy. He turned down the role five times.
    The diner scene where Ike slapped Vanessa Bell Calloway's character Jackie. The slap was real and Vanessa's reaction wasn't 100% acting. She was mad as hell. She said it in her Unsung Hollywood episode.

    This movie would have been SO MUCH BETTER if it was true to the book and gave more insight into Ike's character. The fact that neither Tina nor Ike liked the movie is proof that it was just a chance for Hollywood to capitalize on a black woman's trauma.....hence the comedic vibe of the film.
