sidenote, I always tell people a good way to practice alone is to play hearts on your computer. It has much the same foundation (though a different trump suit) and it doesnt come with soul crushing ridicule.

It is hard to teach spades. You can only learn by playing. Because we people do is try to teach strategy instead of the basics and everyone has a different strategy

Right it’s hard explaining it’s not really something that u can teach verbally u can only tell them spades reign supreme but u only play a spade when either spades lead or when u r cutting but as for knowing the board and remembering what have or have not already been played is difficult to teach because everyone memorize things different and I’m pretty sure that if u ask any of the best spades players u know how did they learn they probably goin say they learned from watching and just playing I don’t think anybody goin say they learned from reading or hearing someone read the instructions like any other card game like UNO, Black Jack, Dueces Wild etc etc

We play deuces are wild and use both jokers at the same time. I tried playing that with someone because that’s how I’ve always been taught and he had a whole fit and refused to play.
