Can you test full spectrum, red light, green light, blue light, red blue light, red green and blue light. I think green does photosynthesize but what I'm wondering is can the individual colors be able to grow the plant better than full spectrum if you have them divided three all together
High blue for veg, high red for flower. Go buy a 4000k 80cri led 126 watts per 3 plants and you're golden. Growing 6 plants under the same tent? get 2 126w led lights.
Maybe this explains why 30 years ago a man I knew used fluorescent lighting for grow lights with a few 100 watt incandescent bulbs hanging down in the midst of things. He said the incandescent bulb produced the red ray and helped root growth, while the long standard household fluorescent produced the rest of the spectrum. I guess he was right. Best of all 3 worlds for very cheap. Ya...he was growing herbs.
A couple of things to consider. First what do you want from the plants. I want a dense, broad leafed plant. Second is your plant day length sensitive. I tend to use a combination white blue with no red. I get plants that completely cover the pot with broad leaves and dark green color. The do grow due to the white lights but remain slow growing while building a lot of leaf density. When I get the plants half the full size that I want I shorten the day length from 16 hrs down to 12 hours. At that point I can replace the blue with the red light for blooms which will normally begin in a couple of weeks while the plant will continue to grow taller.
I find your videos are good and relatively fair demonstrations even though you have a company selling a product. I appreciate that, thank you for these videos!
I realize that because the red light influence stem elongation the lettuce did well. Blue light influence shorter but hard leaves, thus the density of the lettuce under this light was not much encouraging. However, red and blue light coupled will give the best of result the very reason why the normal light did excellent. Thank you for the education.
So if we thought that one particular spectrum (blue?) created less spacing between nodes etc.. maybe it's just that the plant grew slower or less because it doesnt utilize that spectrum as much as the others? Kind of 2 different ways to look at one outcome except one makes more sense than the other I think..
What is the difference in the taste? With edible plants the taste and flavour would be much more important. Please put a review labor taste and flavour.

On other planets (outside our solar system) the evolution would be different. It is interesting to think about difficulties we would face if we wanted to grow our plants in a foreign solar system tho :)

My led 200w grow lights use white, blue, and red leds. Red is by far the most dominant color (more red leds vs. others). My plants grew quickly and were short and bushy. There is definitely some relationship to total wattage and the combination of led bulb colors. Based on my own experience and what im seeing here, the red led achieve the most vegetation overall, but the lettuce came a little leggy. The other non red leds than achieved that nice dense bushy look.
Next time, try alternating the red and blue lights where both receive different amounts. For instance, 1 red is always on but one is red and blue and alternates frequently.
Interesting test, also ought have multiple plants under each spectrum to rule out other factors that might impact results. Sample size of one per each spectrum isn't much.
That growblu veg light is my favorite veg light I've ever owned for cannabis. I have a bunch of them lol. I use them for cloning and the first few weeks of veg.
I know white is best for Veg and red for flowering but I’ve always had blue mixed with red and white but I’ve never eaten anything from inside growing. I’ve never had a need for inside food growing in the south
The red lettuce looked better. The white light had burnt leaves. As far as lettuce is concerned anyways. The flowers looked better too. Same thing kinda happend with my 1st QB grow. I had to get the additional red spectrum sent to me and added later.
Tahts because it out grew it self, in an unhealthy way. Like an obese and unfit person for example. Being large and unhealthy is no where near as good as a smaller (medium size) and perfectly health person.

What if color temperature and plant hardness/ thickness/density have something in common? For example a delicate plant may require cooler color temperatures. While less delicate plants can use a warmer color temperature?
In the past year, white becomes very popular like QB light. Many people said it is better than purple. Mars recently released a kind of white light. I will use it to compare with the purple that i was using to see what it can do.

One thing I have seen someone else discuss was the color of light being specific to the part of life cycle the plant is in. Can you do an experiment like that where you are changing the light combo for one set of plants and while light for the other set?

listen,. Red makes stretch, blue makes dense, but combination is rounded with green. both the red and blue ones are for sure suffering a deficiency of some kind.

I did a little on plants life in biological science, I think different radiation aid ins shaking up matter that results in a wider leaf or production of my cloraphyl, I know I misspelt it..

Does the initial color spectrum set a plant for life? I am curious if say a seedling is started under blue will it have short internode space for life; if a spectrum were later full or is it the light intensity that keeps short internode spacing?
Hi, The blue would keep it short while under that spectrum, if you change to a spectrum with more red the plant would stretch but the initial blue at the start of the plants life would still have an effect.

Hi John. Plants will grow under any light, just with different characteristic's. Flourescents have blue, green and red in them, just check out any flourescents spectrum online and you'll see. The gases used are generally the same for different colour temperatures. Just go for it and see how it goes 🤞

White light is always better then just having blue since white contains all colors only omitting UV and IR but you can get LEDs that are full spectrum, my light tester shows that my Fecida full spectrum are close to blue but it has enough red for flower. I already had a Bloomspec led and a people led in my tent and added two Fecida to have much more light spread and PPFD for my the autos I just topped.
That was an interesting experiment, now I am looking at growing plants in my aquarium, so there are other factors affecting growth. Aquarium lights generally come in combination of red +white, white +blue, total white... What would your recommendation be considering factors like water, distance of the light from the surface and others if you have any?

Someone tested a red and blue done the same thing as the red.

Cool way to show the different effects of coloured light

Agreed. In my readings you have to have a mixture of red and blue together for effectiveness. You just can't have one color of red or blue.

White light works the best color mix’s or single color for customized growth maybe 5 hours of mix or single then back to white lighting

red light lends to root and bud development. that's probably why the total blue one was so restricted

The plant on the left you said is full spectrum white light. Did you have all three colored light on that particular plant or just the white light?

You are testing, Blue, Green and Red light (same as cfl) vs only red or blue, not a test according to me. Blue photons inhibit cell elongations.
