It is terrible, but you can take some small crumb of comfort from the fact that this Parliamentary Committee new how the press would respond and used that. They played a blinder. And it had to be that majority of Tories on that panel, who knew Johnson well enough to predict his actions. They knew exactly how to give him enough rope to hang himself. They knew that giving him a copy of the report early (which they were NOT obligated to do) would trigger him into railing in the press and he would commit more, compounding offences and nail down his own coffin. And, sure enough . . .

      *THIS! THIS! THIS!* 👏👏👏

    • @DarkHelixia
      @DarkHelixia ปีที่แล้ว +1

But even with this simplified example it can still result in a subjective debate as to what constitutes rain. There are various definitions as to the separation between rain and drizzle, let alone other precipitation types e.g. when does sleet become rain in both a spatial and temporal context? If I say it was raining when I looked out the window, is it still raining now? If there's rain out my window, what's to say there's rain on the other side of the building. What duration does it need to rain for it to be considered raining? Over how large an area should it rain for it to be considered raining?
Even if such specific, and likely impractical, definitions were agreed upon, by simply looking out of the window, it is unlikely that objective evidence to satisfy rigorous definitions would be practical to obtain. For example, one definition between the cutoff between rain and drizzle is that the drops should be larger than 0.5mm. Is it possible to determine this objectively by looking out the window?
This may seem ridiculous, but these differences become magnified when the issues under discussion are emotions and beliefs that warp apparent 'facts'.
In the end, journalism should attempt to portray a 'balanced' view of the beliefs and equip its audience with the tools to make their own 'objective' opinion knowing that even then our inherent biases will taint our perceptions. Unfortunately due to other inherent human biases, e.g. confirmation bias, the long-known truth that a media outlet's audience tend to cluster around certain demographic, political and social stereotypes and a leaning of most outlets towards a certain inclination, it is far less profitable to provide a balanced presentation of the opinions ... Best to get your news from a number of different sources; not only within your own country but from others who have less 'skin in the game' ...
Anyone can say it's raining - chances are it is somewhere at some time ... Anyone can tell their truths which is to another a lie. Anyone can lie, which to another person becomes their truth.

All corporate lobbying should be registered and openly listed for shareholders so all the fake news/stats they generate and mony spent can be sourced . No MP should be allowed second jobs or to receive any second income they weren't receiving before elected or any income above Average Wage. I cant see it happening but their assets should be seized while in office and returned with interest at deposit account rate when they leave office. Too many are working with hedge funds that bet against the economy. They should not be allowed any gifts meals or trips that are not gov or self funded. The BBC should outsource its news to independents and rotate their input. It should focus politically not on balance but on holding politicians to account. Ideally it should rag every poltician to the limit whether opposition of govt, If any have too much in their wallet we should know about it.

The British media is overwhelmingly controlled by the Tories and is undoubtedly pro Tory.
They are nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Tories and they don’t deal with
facts, they deal with misinformation, disinformation, falsehoods and downright lies.
Please everyone don’t believe the British media, think for yourself on the facts involved in
all the issues, as the media are biased and against people thinking critically on the true facts.

It's the same thing here in the States. And I'm as furious about both governments in both of these countries (British born, live in USA). Remember they were both born in the USA.

Now that the laws regarding the right to protest have been changed is there any way we can get them to apply to the Mps protesting Boris's innocence and have them arrested. Or locked up by the people in white coats.

Thank you for highlighting the complicit shameful enablers.
All narcissists thrive on the enablers who seem to devoid of any moral compass.
It is hard to understand why....but we/ the nation deserve better.

The BBC had one of his mates on the other day, a former advisor, who defended his partygate lies by claiming that he shouldn't be expected to know what's going on in parliament.

I have never listened to anything more truthful. I have never listened to anyone speak with such heartfelt passion. I never again expect to listen to someone opening his soul as magnificently as you do in this vid.
