Yeah I agree. I was a believer myself, and it showed me alot about the spiritual world, people and the will to live good and evil but it was just making me a judgmental Bible thumper so now I despised who I was in that time period never want to go back to it. I was fine before a different person and now I Don't think to much on spirituality I know there's the supernatural but don't care that much to take part in anything of that sort just want to live this life while I have it.
What's certain is that we have a life and need to be positive while living it, and not be scared of a afterlife cuase that cuased me not to enjoy life, and after I left it was a battle to give my life purpose and meaning again. I had just felt I was evil and everyone and everything was naturally evil but there is so much good We are not all evil.
I went through times after I left the faith I had felt if the Bible is true we are all going to hell because of our imperfection, and was thinking in that logic because being washed clean is impossible everyone has the so called "Sin" nature anyways so it doesn't matter at the end of the day if faith can take you places belive in anything and after we die we may just be where we belive we'll go but we really don't know.
I respect everyone's beliefs and faiths that's just my my personal experience and reason.

I agree. 100%. Jesus never taught to be that way. Jesus taught to love others as you love yourself. God teaches that we aren't to believe because of fear, but because of love and logical understanding that God exists. In fact, Jesus taught completely against those Pharisees of his time, who had an image of righteousness, however were prideful and judgemental hypocrites. Those same Pharisees wanted to kill Jesus because they knew what he was saying was the truth, they just didnt want to listen. How many of these Pharisees exist in churches today? However true knowledge of God is when God opens up a whole new world for you. You don't worry for tomorrow, you have hope, joy, and peace. You always have a smile on your face, or a smile in your heart even in the moments you may be down. You KNOW there is God who has everything in his hands. And alsp you don't sin simply because you dont want to go to hell. You don't sin because you love God and know that sin will be for the worst. Its freeing living with a clean heart without the evils of the world. God changed my life and can change yours too. May God bless you! :)

One of the key moments where I abandoned faith was a healing service in our church. Here’s a bunch of people following the word of God sincerely and asking genuinely if they can be healed, according to the Bible which tells us that whatever we ask shall be given to us, and that many would come after Jesus who would perform greater miracles than him. And all that resulted from it was 2 people being healed from the terrible affliction of “having one leg shorter than the other.” Something which is of course hard to verify. It was just one step in a process, but that was a moment where I realized that it’s just BS.

Typical story of a person following what another said about Jesus and the Bible instead of reading it for themselves. People twist good things for their own use, that is why there is the Bible so you can read it first hand.

Johan, as others have said, it is sad that you abandoned the faith because of the hypocrisy of men. That's a given. First and foremost, our faith needs to be in Jesus. Even as I listen to Trent's story of why he left Christianity, he does not sound like he was truly following Jesus, but rather, an evangelical construct. Even as Trent spoke, and he was very compelling--he was not giving us scripture. His faith was not biblically-grounded, so he doesn't seem to have had much of an anchor in his life. He never speaks of Jesus. He was more of a social Christian, and his faith was probably rooted and grounded in the faith and actions of others.

    • @MaviLeb
      @MaviLeb ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's the problem.
People follow religions and cults instead of Christ.
The bible does not teach that people can pray today and get healed for sure. Not saying it can't happen but it is not promised. We have to read the text in context and think about what was said to whom and why - and not just take some verses as general statements. It is not the age of seeing, it is the age of grace.
You don't need religion to be right with God. When Jesus died on the cross he surely has not wanted to create a religion but to save people and make them able to live together with God. To be free not to be chained by some dogma, because he loves us. It's something that is personal between you and God and nobody else. If you have this kind of relationship you won't ever fall away from faith. Because in this case faith is not something you do but something God does in you. No church, no cult, no group of people can give you that, ever. Only God can give it you if you believe him.
He has given his life so we can live. He does not owe us anything but he gave us everything.
People doing healing services don't love you, they love themselves.

I’m a Christian after leaving the faith for a decade to find myself. The feeling I had in those ten years, earning bank, starting a successful business, dating girls and partying brought me to a low place where I saw that it was pointless without acknowledging God and he welcomed me back with a loving embrace. I told myself I was a good person, but I wasn’t. From his love and submission to me I act in love towards him to serve him and live for him.
I got married, I got cheated on, I tried to save the marriage, she didn’t and we divorced.
Through that God was the only one that was there and knew my pain and it made me love him more. A year later you would not know that I had all that pain behind me.
The reality is. God is good, he’s the only way to eternal life. After death there is no joy, smiling, comfort when you are separated from God.

I have seen several of these 'why I left Christianity' videos. They all have at least one point I would have on a list if I were to make one of these kinds of videos. I guess I shared by default by commenting on what other people have shared. That first comment resonated with me. I was taught that loving self was selfish and prideful. When I learned that 'love flows out', I started to know what love was. If I don't have love in me, if I am not a conduit for love to flow through, how can I show love to others? I you needed $100, and I don't have $100, I can't give it to you. That concept of being a conduit for love really changed my whole view of things. It changed me.

@@ezekielgentle It all started with an argument with a fellow employee at a restaurant where I worked nights cleaning up. I flew into a rage. It was the next day that I realized that I cannot allow others to trigger me that way. That's when I turned it around. I saw myself as a duck and him as water. The thought 'Love Flows Out' came to me. I stopped seeking love, acceptance, and approval from others. That was a moment that changed my life, more than any Church Culture activity ever did. Actually, CC only kept me in a victimized state of mind. That outcome of the incident at the restaurant I started calling Duck Medicine (medicine meaning power) is what I call my 'moment of enlightenment'. It was part of a mental shift that led to my de-conversion a few years later.

Thank you for sharing. Fascinating story and speaks to your inner wisdom to have that moment of reflection. Your Duck Medicine / Power concept is inspiring and reminds me of The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle where he makes the point that we are neither our bodies nor our thoughts but rather the awareness of our entire experience. Sounds like you became aware of your aggregated/triggered state and knew intrinsically there was another way. Leaving a mindset of victimhood seems to take a lifetime of recovery- which I’m happy to do as it’s a small price to pay for true freedom. Thanks again. I wish you the best in your endeavors ✨

Christianity creates the concept of the 'Void". It's a thing that's to be feared and rightly so. After all you/we, spent all our lives being told what to do, believe etc. For me the void I faced, besides the spiritual one, was lose of community. That was real. Once I faced the void, I became free. Sure the void of the community didn't go away. Unlike you, I have trouble with friends. But way beyond that I discovered a world that has a lot to offer. I thrived. I have never missed christianity for one second. Personally the Void was not something to avoid, but embrace. I know this is a few years old, so I wish you the best on your journey where ever it takes you.

    • @ezekielgentle
      @ezekielgentle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you for the thoughtful comment, Larry! Your words resonate with me deeply and I appreciate your thoughts. In radicalizing myself, I abandoned my own sensibilities for those that felt higher or more attuned to what the narrative I was locked in on said. The void was left as the unexplained, now but not yet, and the only way out was to go through it and “give god the glory” while internally, I was becoming more empty of my true self the harder I sought the evangelical god of the Bible.
Allowing the faith system to unravel has shown me what you described- the void is not escapable or outright explainable. In fact, we probably all have variations of this sense of longing that’s as unique to us as our fingerprint.
I’m not sure. But I’m more free AND powerful than I’ve ever been and I’m not going back.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Ezekiel. The comments from the “Christians” prove your points very nicely.
Anyone who has actually read the Bible with an open mind (as I have three times) quickly realizes that it is a hyper-parochial set of texts, many of which plagiarized older religious texts. the god portrayed is petty, jealous, vain, violent, loves collective punishment(especially involving children). and above all, “god” has an extreme insider-outsider view of the world which has subsequently reeked so much destruction in the name of “god”. Fuck that! There are many good Christians (my husband is one of them) but only because they are also critical thinkers and compassionate people; unlike all of the mindless Christians (I’m looking at you, fundamentalists). I hope your video helps others to free themselves from the tyranny of Christianity, or at least find a more genuinely Christ-like denomination. I left 20+ years ago and haven’t looked back.
For anyone thinking about leaving, I encourage you to watch some videos from Bart Erhman, an expert on the history of Christianity and the biblical cannon (fascinating and most un-Christ-like, and answers the question why so much in the New Testament is contradictory). Good luck !

Hi Ezekiel, I've been listening carefully to your testimony and here are the thoughts it inspires to me.
00:18 "I realised that path didn't serve me any more": Hum! are you sure it's all about you? you don't seem to feel fine now that you've left it.
02:22 "I just let it go": I don't understand why, you don't mention it, or did I miss something? you were only talking about relationships between people... and you later mention how deep and sincere the relationships were.
02:54 About "abdication of self": being a Christian doesn't condemn you to become someone else! The father, the son and the spirit love you just the way you are. You only talk about giving, but this can't do: you must receive first. Did you? This seems to be emphasized at what you say at 04:08 "the more I would give of myself"... it's just the wrong way round.... and at 03:23, "putting others first" is not a Christian way of behaving. You must love your neighbour *as yourself* , so you must love yourself first. Do you love yourself ;-) ?
04:50: Talking of guilt, Romans 8 you certainly know well says that _"There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."_ Why should you be able to do miracles? And don't you think God used you for miracles just after you left the scene ;-) ? I know very well that issue, I've experienced it too. But (in my case anyway) it was a way to fight fear, to get self-confidence, to feel like "I don't have to fear this world". Hopefully I understood it, gave up, and... still experience miracles from time to time. Besides, don't forget we are in the end times, there will be less and less miracles.
05:40: didn't get the point on the band. Looks like people haven't been fair to you. Well, get ready for a thousand of such situations in your life... I guess you know dating is a hard topic. Hope you also notice that (06:00) you swallow your deception by focusing on you: "what you really like, what you prefer"... it may help for some time, but it's a dangerous path.
06:30 : Jesus didn't come to save us from hell, but from sin... that's why there is hope for a peaceful and fruitful life on earth! Mat 1 _"(Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, _*_because he will save his people from their sins.”_*
06:44: No, of course not! There is salvation also for those who didn't hear about Jesus. Read Mat 25, 31 to 46 (the sheep and the goats), or Romans 2, 12+ :_"All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law (...) For it is (...) those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law."_ This should also answer your "lack of responsibility": you can't seriously claim that in the church, because as you know, we are accountable for all our deeds and even all our thoughts.
On the creative force: are you serious? don't tell me you really believe this is possible apart from god. Furthermore, it contradicts your deception of not being able to do miracles.
On the divorce and misbehaving of a leader: alas, the leaders are targets for the devil... they might be blamed, as such situations cause people to stumble, but they are also the very example that the values and ideals described in the Bible are true.
09:50 listening to your instincts isn't difficult, it's very easy as it's natural, it's your animal nature. But of course you have to reject all your intelligence and moral barriers tell you... but then, is it good to do so?
10:06 No, of course not all paths are equivalent nor fulfilling! This is criminal of you o to claim that and encourage others to do so. AS a matter of fact, what helps you keeping the void at a distance is precisely the tasks God gave to Adam: To work the garden and take care of it! As for the music, the Bible tells us why it soothes the mind: it was created to honor God and worship Him.
Sorry for this long comment, I really car about your sincerity and frankness and hope my comment may help.
Blessings from a French guitarist who struggled long with the same kind of issues, to which only God has a solution. Or rather : to which God is the one and only solution.

"I pray for your soul brother." vs " I'm sorry you believe in lies" majority of people utter the latter. For me personally, ive gotten to points where i believed i was God. But at some point i had to admit that i didnt put myself here nor did i create the people around me. My brain cannot wrap itself around the entirety of existance. When i open my bible there is a certain humbleness that comes over me, almost like my brain admitting that it needs my heart. Like my heart admitting it needs my soul.
    Isaiah
10:15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
I humbly admit that i am not the one in control nor can i lean on my own understanding. I pray for the reader as i do not know your role in all of this. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. Amen.

I was born as a cradle Catholic and went to Sunday school up to the 5th grade. Thankyou for sharing this. Can I make a few observations from the perspective of someone who has not left Christianity?
    1) "Asking Jesus into your heart" is not a magic spell and has no lasting value by itself (as you have discovered). Likewise, rededication is ineffective as a means of finding a deeper relationship- it should only be done as a response to a deeply felt experience of God's love, and that is something you cannot fake.
    2) If anything is becoming a chore, the right response is to stop doing it. Christianity is meant to be a pleasure, not a punishment. You did the right thing, and there should be no guilt or shame.
    3) Having a servant heart is not meant to be a kind of self-flagellation, it just requires humility and not thinking we are better than anyone else.
    4) We are all flawed in some way. This is the unavoidable "starting point" that we must recognise before we understand our need of salvation. Church leaders are also flawed, and if we expect them to be perfect we will always disappointed.
5)We are not made right with God by giving, but by receiving. God is not impressed by what we do for HIm, but by our willingness to accept what he has done for us.
    6) MIracles are not our doing, they are subject to the sovereignty of God. If it does not happen, it is not your failure. If it does happen, it is not your success.
    7) There is no place for either guilt or shame in Chrisitanity. "There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8)
    8) Unlike you, I landed on Christianity after years of spiritual wandering and exploration of other paths. I eventually realised that only the sacrifice of Jesus could break down the barrier that separates us from God. There is nothing more we have to do, just ourselves up to receive and let God's love flow through us. As the hymn says "hast thou not seen? all that is needful has been".
    9) It is possible to be earnestly wrong. Take care where you go from here.

For me the most hellish thing about hell is being separated from the source of all life and light and love and everything else that is good and true and right. It seems some people think God should not send people to hell, but, that's impossible if the only way to escape hell is to stick with God their Creator and Redeemer. If you don't want God around, you can't have all the things that God provides. And God can't provide it remotely. God has to be on site and in charge in order to make good things happen. When you see the words, the Lord in an English text, that’s a title replace that with the original Hebrew yahweh the proper name of the deity.
In the text, it says though yeh are gods you’ll die like men. Sounds polytheistic to me.. the 40 times the Goddess Asherah has been edited out of the Bibles who the hell do you think the queen of heaven is. Oh hell what Jesus actually said was you wouldn’t want to be cast into Gahanna probably spelled incorrectly, but it’s a Valley outside of Jerusalem. How does that get? Translated into English is hell is strictly because somebody was making stuff up.. iLike former Christians, who got their education while they were devout believers they are experts in the ancient languages from them you can learn what the text says in the August copies, and the history of the creation of a literature that is contained within the text labeled as the Bible. Professor Joel Baden Yale Divinity school.. professor Barth Ehrman are Princeton theological seminary. Dr. Kipp Davis. Trinity Western University.. dr. Joshua Bowen, former Air Force Chaplin. Matt Dillahunty.. Derek Lambert, TH-cam channel myth, vision former fundamentalist Christian because he’s done his channel in an extremely professional manner scholars in relevant fields of ancient civilizations, including the development of Christianity, are willing to go on his channel and present the information and evidence from the experts that can explain what we know, and how we know it from a historical perspective.
Lastly, if you make a claim or assertion, you are responsible for the evidence .
Theist is Greek it means a belief.
Atheist is Greek it means no belief.
    Atheist is not a worldview.
My lack of belief is because I haven’t seen sufficient evidence to support the God proposition.

Now. Does this sound like a perfect God who made us in his image? Or does this God sound like he was conjured up by mere humans who would have these human emotions? A perfect God wouldn't have these emotions. A perfect Gods actions wouldn't be dictated or controlled by mere human actions.

    You followed works based religion
'i gave and gave and gave...'
You're supposed to just believe and that's it.
The first three gospels are strict as a parable.
If the job in the church was on the condition of not dating certain people then can't blame them for letting you go.
I don't judge you for dating because it's normal and remember the shewbread thing where David broke the law by eating that bread.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Jesus said that following him was not easy and you are going to experience pain.

Natsarim have INTEGRITY, and teach and obey the Commandments of Yahuah.
    MEN CHANGE, BUT TRUTH REMAINS
Our Creator’s Name is YAHUAH (H3068), and as our Deliverer, the first Natsarim (H5341) knew Him as YAHUSHA (H3091) as He visited us as the Lamb of Alahim. Skipping the traditions invented by men, look up the Name using the concordance numbers provided.
When the Bereans searched the Scriptures, they did not consult the Septuagint; they went to read the Hebrew prophets (Acts 17:11).

The real problem is people can read now. And as I state on my own episodes to my subs---people research on their own instead of just taking a pastor's word for it now. I didn't want to deconvert. Believe me, I fought it. But the fact is if you start to research you will see that the claims don't add up. And no I didn't take the late Christopher Hitchens word for it. I researched apologists' claims. I looked at Lee Strobel's interviewees and his total lack of objectivity, not to mention he never bothered to actually fact check their claims. And what you find is nothing but speculation and poor speculation at that. Or you find an apologist taking one fact (IE the city of Ur existed in Abraham's time) so therefore Abraham existed. Total fallacies and apologists do it all the time. I always say in my episodes that I want to find evidence to reconvert. But the fact is the more I research, the more the deconstruction continues. Cheers, DCF

It sounds to me as though you had an issue finding good resources for apologetics. Have you looked beyond the household names, such as Strobel, when it comes to the historicity of Biblical events? I used to watch a fellow called 'Testify' on TH-cam for that, and I'd recommend him to anyone who wishes to gain insight into this topic.
Edit: looking at your channel, or at least your most popular videos, I come to the conclusion you're an atheist now (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken), and I think that's quite naive. It is irrational to reject belief in any sort of God just because Christian Fundamentalism turned out to be false; can you imagine if old scientists disregarded the validity of scientific thought once geocentrism was proven wrong? At the very least you should examine philosophical arguments for the God of Classical Theism. Aristotle would be a good starting point, alongside (say) Plotinus.

Let's imagine an hypothetical scenario where christianity is wrong ( In its beliefs ). In this case you'd have nothing to lose. But if christianity is right, you'd be in big trouble after dying...

Idk which video you talked about there not being a biblical case for someome to read and explain what the text means. I understand you critique was about how those texts were interpreted, however, there is a biblical case for there being a reading and interpretation of the text for people, even people who had understanding.
What does this mean for you as someone who has already left: it unfortunately proves that you have based your faith off of people rather than God and his word, what you know to be the bedrock of faith. Brother, i could tell you where to find this particular example, but ernesrly, would that example prove anything to you except for you to find more why you shouldnt believe in Jesus Christ who is the Creator and King of the universe? I know you still care for truth and still care for love, so i encourage you to study it out with a humble heart seeking GOD, not yourself to be right. Let God be true, and every man (including us!) a liar.
Anyways, the text was Nehemiah 9, and when you wanna talk about it's relevance and how we as the church are behind, lemme know, bc id love to talk about it brother. God bless you❤

I hear your hurt, I honestly do, but you leaving the way to God bc of people sounds like you never knew God to begin with... I know that sounds harsh, but salvation doesn't come from people or works, but knowing him. Have you considered this before judging Christianity?

Being a Christian is about Growing in Jesus Christ, If you are not Growing you are dying, also people think that being a Christian gets easier it doesn't, if you truly read the Bible you will see many cases of people who failed then asked God for Forgiveness, just saying I Quit makes God sad, but God will respect your Decision, the Journey of the world is wide and seems easy but leads ultimately to Destruction, narrow and windy is the Road that ends in Heaven, maybe you need to find the right church, I belong to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, we are the people of the Book "Bible", just remember it is in our fallen nature to Love sin, but through Jesus and the Holy Spirit we can claim the Victory, just remember their are many who claim to be Christians then their are those who are Christians, as it is Written you will now them by their Fruits.

What is the problem? I will tell you the problem, its really simple. I Corinthians II::3 Elohim is the head of Christ. Christ is the head of man.
NOT Elohim/Christ is the head over Christ, Christ is the head over the pastor, bishop, priest, rabbi, these are over man. NO NO.
Here is the big problem. The traditions of men. I Cor I4:3I for all can prophesy one by one. How is this possible with a pulpit master who thinks he has all the answers? Get down from the pulpit and join the group and allow Christ to lead.
Ps dent Christ and He will deny you.

Have you wondered whether the Bible really teaches what you think it teaches? Genuine question. It's quite a big flaw in Protestantism that anyone can make up their own interpretation of Biblical passages with no regards to what has been traditionally taught. This is why Christianity has thousands of denominations. If you want the truth, then Catholicism is your best bet. I'd be more than happy to elaborate on this.

Even pastors / priests burn out and take a sabbatical. The devil reminds us of sin but Ephesians 2:8-9 says we are saved by faith and NOT by good works lest any man may boast. It would not be Grace if we had to earn it.
God provides different gifts to different people. Not everyone can prophesy. Not everyone can speak in tongues. Not everyone can perform miracles. You are not a lesser Christian, if you cannot. Look at Paul, blessed and with God but he had a physical affliction that he was unable to shift no matter how hard he prayed.
Romans 3:23 says for ALL have sinned. You are no different from anyone else inside or outside the church. What matters is that we say sorry and repent. We can strive to be perfect but I think that is not attainable and unrealistic. Yes we should do good works but Matthew 5:16 says that is to bring glory to God.
1 Corinthians 6 days no liar will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Revelation 21 says all liars have their part in the Lake of Fire. So it was wrong of your church to be dishonest with you. A good church leads by example.
No. The bible does not say that. Indeed quite the opposite. Matthew 7:1 commands us not to judge others. Jesus said not to worry about the wrongs of your brother. The tale of the Good Samaritan shows that we are to be kind to all regardless of someone else's faith. Yes Jesus is the only way, but it is not our place to judge others. God gave freewill. Jesus never forced anyone to love Him.
You are not the energy. If miracles are performed it is by God. Even Jesus prayed to the Father.
    People divorced under Moses.
I think your expectation of instant perfection is unreal. We are all works in progress. You think when you become a Christian you automatically become perfect. We are not washed clean by what we do. We are washed clean by what Jesus did upon the cross. I became a Christian in 1974 and I still make mistakes. If you need to talk, I will try to help.

As you know, all Jews and Christians were ordered to believe in, accept and follow the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad/ Ahmad, SAS, become Muslims and practice Islam as the ONLY correct Religion/ Way of Life, as Divinely Ordained in their own respective scriptures, the Torah and the Gospel. Just what are the Jews and other Christians waiting for if indeed they follow their Holy Books as they claim??? Islam is for ALL humanity.

Ezekiel I just felt to share two question you should consider
    Did you choose to live?
    Did you create yourself?
Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder(Jesus) of a house has greater honor than the house(me/you) itself.Heb3:3
Why did I share this scripture and those questions?
Is there any other God that gave of Himself and became the creation He formed, beaten by the hands He made, and forgave them so that by His Life He could give us access into complete union and communion in Him.
Christianity is not a different path, or a slight conversion. Jesus came to give the dead, Life.
What is in you is eternal,
Love' is standing at the door of your heart.
Come Holy Spirit mark him for Your Glory, fill him with you Presence! 🔥♥️🕊️thank you Jesus!
