Excerpts of Desak Made Suarti Laksmi performing Palawakya with Semara Ratih. Palawakya is a classic--one of the oldest pieces in the gong kebyar repertoire from north Bali. The piece is very demanding for the dancer, who must also sing and play the terompong. Ibu Desak is one of the few who women has truly mastered all three skills and is certainly one of the top performers of this piece.
