Can you practice as a NP if you just passed your boards? My employers were asking me if I was allowed to work as a NP the day after I get my unofficial pass. I’m going to assume the answer is no correct?
Hi, Is it possible to apply for NPI number right after graduation? I graduated recently and searching for jobs now. I am not sure if I will work under a private practice or in a nursing home or hospital.
In some states, yes. In states that require a controlled substance registration, you often need that before applying for your DEA, and sometimes you may need a place of employment before getting that. (I recently did this in my state of CT, and they couldn't process my DEA until I had a practice location for that reason)
Great job! Can you do a video about the process of credentialing for NP who want to have solo practices?
love all your videos. Great information. Wish I had these resources when I started 4 years ago. m
Thanks so much, Toni!

No, you will need your state license issued in order to legally practice.
Can you work with a collaborative physician with a temporary npi student/intern code while awaiting licensure?
Can you do credentialing for an NP in two different states of course I have license in both states? Let me know thanks!
You definitely have some things that you’ll need to do in both states but yes you can be credentialed and able to practice in both :-)
DEA license fee went up. So expensive. 😭 You also need a Controlled Substance Registration with states you’ll be working in. (another $ fee)
You are correct! DEA reg is now $888. And yes, a Controlled Substance Registration is required on some states, not all. Thanks for watching!

You will need your license number first. So...pass board, apply for license, and once that’s granted, you can apply for NPI :-)
Thank you 🙏🏻.I passed my boards and I got my license. So I hope I can apply for NPI regardless of which facility I work.
Yes just be sure to change the address associate with the NPI once you have a practice location!
