Now that he found a GTR he tries to play it off like “oh I’ve been planning on flipping the sprinter the whole time” to get one of you idiots to buy into it. That is a grade A slimy dude. I love Doug, he’s such a gentleman and a hard worker. He’s definitely a mechanic to keep. Gavin you better treat this guy right. Give him another raise.
You go to school or hands on in a dealer where you learn the specifics because warranty claims dont bullshit around saying its broke dosnt work to claim warranty anymore
Shadow The Wolf I have one specific wrench to get it off because they are so beat up no other tools I have tried on it grab without trying to make it worse
So funny...about ten years ago, I tried and tried to find someone who would make me a custom cam for my Viper. I even had one of the big Viper performance parts suppliers tell me that a Viper would gain no more than 10whp with a cam swap without aftermarket heads. I finally gave up and bought a new Vette to mod at the time. Glad to see someone making it happen.
aiden ajay if i won this car i would just give it to doug and give gavin the money back, these guys are just to good of people to take this from them🙏🏽❤️
Make you check the crankshaft bolt. Dodge did not key the crankshaft on the vipers engines they will spin back out. You can get a aftermarket pin kit from roe racing.
Had a Jeep come in to work the other day for black rhino wheels just like those, except theirs were way wider and they were stretching 35s on them. Safe to say that heap kept us there an hour and a half past close because the beads wouldn’t seat.
Man, that dog wants to HUNT! Cant wait to see the tuned pulls. Youve got one HELL of a mechanic in Doug, that man is absolutely invaluable to the crew. Keep it up Gavin, your hard work and dedication is already paying off in spades.
The bolts are for obviously holding the wheel but you have this too that you use to clamp the bolts to pull the whole section off without tearing the threads
My old Audi had those bolts too, pain in the ass when I got aftermarket rims I had to find longer ones, luckily my local Tyre shop just happened to have some lying round.
Just an FYI, Fiat and in turn the Dodge Dart also used them. They use them actually because in an accident or if you curb the wheel you will shear the bolts and can just drill em out instead of replacing the whole hub. It also adds some protection against collisions and ripping the front/rear axels and causing more damage to the vehicle.
Here is something you can let Doug no for further information... When you're having troubles data logging an older car like the wiper. You still have 0 to 5 V reference sensors in the vehicle. For example you could have put in a simple double Pole double throw Switch on your 0 to 5 V AC Sensor One way for data logging 1 way for your air conditioning in the car. Then you hook your laptop up and data log your AC sensor but it won't be the AC sensor it will be your AFR gauge
Jeep, audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Saab, there are lots of companies that use wheel bolts. They have tools that are called wheel bullets that thread into the hub so you can hang the wheel.
Love your videos so much cant wait for the next one. Thank you gavin and all of you at six media for the amazing entertainment that bring me a smile and helps forget about all the bad and focus on the good.
In Europe we have lug bolts instead of nuts, we had nuts like up to the late 70's early 80's cars then all manufacturers changed it. Just like we ( most of Europe ) changed to metric system because it's more accurate. Edit: Think they went that way to save the threads because it's easier to damage them as well as change it if you damage the threads.
Yeah, the Euro groups use the leg bolts.. I hate it too.. I have VW Jettas and I did a Titanium stud conversion with spiked aluminum lugnuts... (ricer stuff.. Don't hate..lol) expensive, but worth it especially if I ever want to take it to the track somewhere cuz they don't like leg bolts either..
Being a Vw tech i can relate on how annoying lug bolts are compared to Lug Nuts hahah. When cars are on the lift and you have to hold the tire up in the air while trying to put a bolt on. It sucks... Lol
You say them wheels are junk but try only having the factory steal wheels. I think the factory ralley steal wheels are trash and the ones you took off are a massive upgrade.
Lug bolts are so popular with European cars, German cars especially. My 2004 VW Jetta 1.8T GLS 5spd has 5x100 bolt pattern has lug bolts. Btw- love the Top Gear Clarkson Subaru clip 😂♥️
My favorite is how the camera audio picks up the side exit exhaust ricocheting off the cars he's passing. Sucks about the tuning computer, hope the next one works out and the potential of the Viper is reached. Still having a hard time getting over 26k for forged internals, ARP goodies, and updated gaskets.
What a tuner that I go to told me when he had a dodge charger on the dyno told me is that dodge locks their ecm's so that you have to contact them if you want to do anything to them
Spark plugs are the real way to check. Afr is a number to shoot for but to tell if timing is right or fuel is rich or lean requires pulling plugs. Just facts
Hey man I'm new to the channel. I seen this video in my suggestions and had to watch. The car is absolutely beautiful and sounds wicked. I've always been a big mopar fan and that body style viper has always been my favorite, as well as, a dream car of mine. Keep up the good work man. Liked and subscribed.
lug bolts are far superior as long as you have wheels and hubs that have a center lip on them. What you're able to do is just slap a wheel up on the hub and then spin it to align it holes, instead of trying to align the wheels on the studs. I hate mounting wheels on studs, especially truck wheels
Man Mercedes is on a different level. Didn’t even know about the lugnut bolts until the other day. A older woman had to put it in the shop and they didn’t tighten them and their wheel flew off going down the road. She called triple A so she didn’t want anyone to help 😂 to this day you see where she drove without the wheel on.
Damn, listening to that Viper makes my heart sink. You don't even have to floor it to bring out the character. It has character all throughout its driving experience. The low-end chugging makes me wet, but so does the higher RPM range. Shifting must be orgasmic xD My Z has such a heavy flywheel (~30 lb) so shifting is just really slow, and my money is going to bills instead of getting a 10-12 lb flywheel/clutch kit
i love how the intro has someone hitting their head with a helmet on against a toolbox and then kicking it over while there is super serious music playing
If you drag race it at the track you guys better fix that rear end! I’ve seen so many times a failed burnout, backup try again and either break it or break it when they launch! Love the cammed viper man!

Jeep, fiat, bmw and mercedes uses the lug bolts. Lots of people actually do the lug stud and nut conversion because its stupid for lug bolts.

I think all German cars use them because the Audi TT I have now uses lug bolts and the bimmer I used to have uses them too
another difference between the lug bolts is the stock ones have a ball seat and the aftermarket ones have a cone seat.

Ford used to use lug bolts and VW as well. I had an old Ford 80s Fiesta that took lug bolts. Hated it.
So lugbolts are just the norm here in Germany and obviously they won't change how the wheels are attached for export cars.
Yeah i agree the lug bolts are stupid. I did a lug stud/nut conversion on my BMW, it's a lot nicer and and easier to take wheels on/off.
