This started killing my battery incredibly fast. It was getting hot as well. And when I plugged into my computer it told me that I didn't have enough power and to plug in a power adapter. USB-C doesn't have power issues. I eventually put the phone into DFU mode and manually installed 18. Then I did over the air to public beta 18.1 beta 2. and this allowed me to use my backup to restore my phone. All is good now. But stay away from beta 5. Bad juju.
To answer your question, you can set an Automation. Automations automatically run a shortcut when conditions are met. So you make the automation automatically run the shortcut to pay your Apple card, when these conditions are met: every first of the month at midnight. So your Apple card is paid off while you're sleeping.

This was the most disappointingly unfinished update ever. I mean, new versions of iOS always have been unpolished on launch, but never as undercooked and raw. It added weird bugs to places they’ve never been before and completely ruined some devices temporarily or permanently. And it has a whole metric tonne of things that just don’t make sense in their present state - control center is a perfect example (also, all the little things about keyboard are my personal exasperation). If I had a chance to speak with the head of UI and software development I would have only one inquiry - what went wrong? I have been on iPhone since iOS 7 and it just went downhill from there, in terms of “polished perfection”, so to speak. Of course the OS got more complex and added a lot of features, but that wonderfully smooth unbugged performance just faded as time passed. Sorry for this rant, but I just need answers.

iOS 18 has been the buggiest update in a long time… Edit: Glad you guys are not experiencing any issues. Long time iOS user here and this one at least for me has been the buggiest.
I have issues with - my Focus modes are all over the place. I use 3 usally (Work, After Work, Weekend). They seem to switch but the wallpapers and the general style associated with them do not change. - my Camera app. If I make a photo and immediately click the preview, it opens a teeny-tiny version of the phot (the size of the little preview, but it puts it in the middle of the screen) - pinch to zoom. If I open a pic (doesn't matter where I got it from) I can't pinch and zoom. I furst have to double tap on it so it zooms in completely and THEN pinch&zoom will work. All of this worked before iOS 18.
Honestly iphone is nice, but if u are person who uses normal pc with windows, itunes is total trash and its sometimes impossibpe to transfer files between pc and iphone. After years Im getting to the point where itunes is becoming deal breaker for me. Iphone works perfectly, but if I need to move files and apple intentionaly prevents me from doing that even threating me with deleting content of my phone, thats realy bad. That fkin phone is so overpriced and has worse sync app than nokia from 1998. Just wtf?

On iPhone 14 pro max 1. facing touch issue . Specially on the keyboard. 2. Action center icon placement is weird. 3. Apple wallet all old card is removed. 4. New card can’t added to wallet. Yep, I had it figured. Still on 17; staying on 17. At least until about 18.3 or .4. The length of time after initial launch of a new iOS most people probably want to wait before upgrading is directly proportional to the extent of the changes of that iOS version from previous. And since 18 is likely amongst the top three to maybe top five most significant updates in the history of iOS; best bet by far is to give this one a very wide berth to get the bugs out.
The touch issue on iPhone 16 is killing me man lol. It makes it feel like the new device is the problem considering my 14 Pro Max didn’t have this issue on any of the 18 betas and even RC smh. Really hope we get 18.0.1 by Monday and they fix this crap..
I'm on 18.0 and my watch app is already updated with the two side buttons like you said was coming with the 18.1 update when it is released. Looks like it is already out there. Anyone been having issues with their mail taking forever to update? I open my mail and it shows no new mail despite having the badge and then it says, "Downloading Mail" which takes up to a minute some times. Super annoying. Also still seeing that you can swipe to the right until all desktops are gone and you are completely to the left of them with no app icons. Hope that gets fixed.
Good summary, thanks! Would be worth looking at notifications iPhone and Apple Watch especial the Apple Mail App where it has lost stand-alone haptic / vibration mode and will only notify if sound is turned on for Mail. I would hope that this is a fix in 18.01 🤞
iOS 18.1 Siri (the one most like the default for iOS 17) has vocal fry, it’s terrible. As a whole iOS 18 seems as though Apple has lost its identity and is trying to be android. Hey siri call this person. “Which app do you want to use?” Hey siri give me directions to this place. It opens google maps without asking. There is no place to choose defaults for these apps so I’ve resulted to deleting all apps that I don’t use by default. Absolutely terrible and yes I realize it’s a beta.
An updated shortcuts tutorial focusing on integrations with control center, automations, and action button sequences would be awesome! As someone who has a basic understanding of shortcuts I would love to see more in depth sequences that either do multiple things or allow deeper control, especially if it could be integrated into the action button.

Yeah, my auto lock setting works when it wants to. I sit my phone down and look back 5 minutes later to see that the screen is still on. I have it set to lock after 30 seconds. I also had an issue in the camera where I would do my edits to a photo but when I hit “done” the edits didn’t take and it went back to the original photo I took. I’m on a 16PM running 18. Loving pretty much everything else about the phone. Anyone else experience this? TIA
iOS 18 has been the buggiest update in a long time. It is a battery gobbler on my 14 pro and I thought it was going to brick my basic iPad 9 but was able to recover it with a hard reset. I will definitely be staying away from the AI version on any of my devices for a while. I am not sure how AI etc is working on Android devices but if these release problems in software continue I think you will see some people looking elsewhere that the Apple sphere
I never used the action button. It’s also at a weird position above the volume buttons. Also had touch issues on my 15PM with iOS17 and still witj iOS18 so maybe it’s a hardware issue. Mostly when picking up a call, the slider doesn’t react.
My 11 inch M4 keeps hard locking up in various Safari websites. It was happening in iPadOS17 too. I have Apple Care and I think I’m going to need to take it in for a replacement. They had me uninstall my VPN app and delete the profile and that made it better for a while but it’s just gotten worse. Now instead of resetting when I hold the buttons for a few seconds, it will lock up when I hold the buttons for 30 to 60 seconds.

my mac m1 got black flashes on the background only and my 13 mini is turning very slow. My battery is draining faster than ever and the health is down by 2% already since I installed the update. I am happy for them with the update but the bugs I experienced is limiting my daily use.

iOS 18 really ruined my messaging experience, I like to set focus filters and set it to known people but when my focuses change it mixes my contacts with the unknowns even though I had previously set it only known. This wasn’t an issue for me in the previous update! I hope they address this in the next update

Has anyone had issues with not being able to enable Sleep Apnea notifications? My setup is WatchOS 11.1 dev beta + iOS 18.1 dev beta + iPhone 15 Pro Max + Apple Watch 10. I tried going to non beta OS versions, resetting both phone and watch, unpairing and pairing.. still cannot get the Health app to show the option to enable those breathing notifications for sleep apnea tracking. Anyone had calls being disconnected after a few mins while on a call ? It randomly ends the call by itself, had this happen 2 times the other night. I suspect it to be something with ios 18 and others have reported this problem also after updating to ios 18. I did some steps the other day while talking to apple support on the phone, so im keeping an eye on it to see if it fixed the problem, and if not I should just call them again.

I have this bug where the icons don't change between light and dark when it's selected to "Automatic".
That means it changes with the system theme, not the time of day, unless the system theme is set to change based on time of day.
The drag and drop functions make me want mirroring with iPad... That would be awesome

Good summary, thanks! Would be worth looking at notifications iPhone and Apple Watch especial the Apple Mail App where it has lost stand-alone haptic / vibration mode and will only notify if sound is turned on for Mail. I would hope that this is a fix in 18.01 🤞
iOS 18.1 Siri (the one most like the default for iOS 17) has vocal fry, it’s terrible. As a whole iOS 18 seems as though Apple has lost its identity and is trying to be android. Hey siri call this person. “Which app do you want to use?” Hey siri give me directions to this place. It opens google maps without asking. There is no place to choose defaults for these apps so I’ve resulted to deleting all apps that I don’t use by default. Absolutely terrible and yes I realize it’s a beta.

An updated shortcuts tutorial focusing on integrations with control center, automations, and action button sequences would be awesome! As someone who has a basic understanding of shortcuts I would love to see more in depth sequences that either do multiple things or allow deeper control, especially if it could be integrated into the action button.

Did you know you can get apple intelligence on any iPhone but you need to be on iOS 18.1 beta 4 and you need to have a Mac or windows computer to download and airdrop some files and apps

Just sent a bug report for iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 18.0 with search function returning a blank screen when searching for an installed app like Watch. Tried several other apps with the same blank screen results.
Even MacOS Sequoia bricked my 2019 intel macbook pro 16” 😭

Yeah, my auto lock setting works when it wants to. I sit my phone down and look back 5 minutes later to see that the screen is still on. I have it set to lock after 30 seconds. I also had an issue in the camera where I would do my edits to a photo but when I hit “done” the edits didn’t take and it went back to the original photo I took. I’m on a 16PM running 18. Loving pretty much everything else about the phone. Anyone else experience this? TIA
iOS 18 has been the buggiest update in a long time. It is a battery gobbler on my 14 pro and I thought it was going to brick my basic iPad 9 but was able to recover it with a hard reset. I will definitely be staying away from the AI version on any of my devices for a while. I am not sure how AI etc is working on Android devices but if these release problems in software continue I think you will see some people looking elsewhere that the Apple sphere

I never used the action button. It’s also at a weird position above the volume buttons.
Also had touch issues on my 15PM with iOS17 and still witj iOS18 so maybe it’s a hardware issue. Mostly when picking up a call, the slider doesn’t react.

My 11 inch M4 keeps hard locking up in various Safari websites. It was happening in iPadOS17 too. I have Apple Care and I think I’m going to need to take it in for a replacement. They had me uninstall my VPN app and delete the profile and that made it better for a while but it’s just gotten worse. Now instead of resetting when I hold the buttons for a few seconds, it will lock up when I hold the buttons for 30 to 60 seconds.
I found one of the Control Center bugs, my ping Apple Watch in Control Center is crossed out and does not work
I thought my screen was broken because it doesn’t react to my touches its really annoying. My battery is also really bad. Control center is laggy, right now my iphone feels like my android phone from 6 years ago its slow and buggy. What is happening?
My camera keeps bricking on my 16 Pro Max running 18.00. I have to power the device down and restart to clear the problem.
Come on Apple, please sort this out, no point in having a camera update and new (different to use) control button if it don’t work!

my mac m1 got black flashes on the background only and my 13 mini is turning very slow. My battery is draining faster than ever and the health is down by 2% already since I installed the update. I am happy for them with the update but the bugs I experienced is limiting my daily use.
I can't open notes that I had locked with FaceID. Aside from that annoyance everything else on the new version is fine. Though I HATE THE NEW PHOTOS APP THIS IS NOT BETTER
iOS 18 really ruined my messaging experience, I like to set focus filters and set it to known people but when my focuses change it mixes my contacts with the unknowns even though I had previously set it only known. This wasn’t an issue for me in the previous update! I hope they address this in the next update
There’s a problem with my series 10 watch where it had this blue outline around it when I go on it, or a white border of sorts on some apps as if it doesn’t fit the screen? I hope this gets fixed soon
My iPad Pro m4 sometimes glitches really bad when going into the settings just after the ios18 update. My iPhone 16 pro max won’t connect to my CarPlay on my Kia. Siri stop working randomly, sometimes work for a whole day but in the majority won’t work
Battery is bad ass! Only problem I face is some icon vanish in control centre sometimes. It’s acceptable to me as i am from android.

Has anyone had issues with not being able to enable Sleep Apnea notifications? My setup is WatchOS 11.1 dev beta + iOS 18.1 dev beta + iPhone 15 Pro Max + Apple Watch 10. I tried going to non beta OS versions, resetting both phone and watch, unpairing and pairing.. still cannot get the Health app to show the option to enable those breathing notifications for sleep apnea tracking. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Screen time is totally jacked, inaccurate and not working properly. My kid has the option to erase all my devices. Apple really needs to fix that!
Anyone had calls being disconnected after a few mins while on a call ? It randomly ends the call by itself, had this happen 2 times the other night. I suspect it to be something with ios 18 and others have reported this problem also after updating to ios 18. I did some steps the other day while talking to apple support on the phone, so im keeping an eye on it to see if it fixed the problem, and if not I should just call them again.
They need to address the overheating issue on the 16 pros. My touchscreen responsiveness has been OK but the overheating is crazy.
Any complaints about iOS 18 causing Apple email app bugs? Specifically no notification sounds work when receiving an email? Many others on Reddit are experiencing same problem.
