Missiles such as AIM-7F can still be dodged under certain conditions (th-cam.com/video/MAK4jcg9iY4/w-d-xo.html) but it's now much more difficult. i literally had 4 back to back games where i was sniped by phoenixes before even getting a shot on enemies, raged for a sec, looked up help, put your lovely 90 seconds of tips into action and after one more bad match managed to outdo 3 tomcats in one match. Much appreciated~
Been learning on my own thanks for this vid it’s really helpful you’re probably the only person on TH-cam with a notching Missiles learned a lot from this as the grub I am lol also vid is easy to understand and you actually show the details not just say it man vids like theses are a rare find
I swear the game hates me in particular, I see these clips of people out pulling pheonixes and the missiles look like they pull 2, maybe 3 gs max, then i do the exact same thing but combined with a full notch as well as bleeding the speed of the missile from a really long distance, and it still pulls like 30 gs and obliterates me. How
It's easy to notch a missile when it's going at mach 1.5, it was shot at 25 miles away... The missile must be shot from 60 to 80 Miles away to be affective, then it will reach to Mach 4 to 5... Plus you won't see it coming so its a 15% of dodging it.
@@eesangWT they still shoot it from 20 miles away, I'm talking about 60 miles... How would you know the missile was even shot at 60 miles... Plus you wouldn't see the smoke trail because when it reaches mach 5 it will turn off smoke and guide itself on the target... The video you gave me was only just the f14 shooting from 20 miles meaning the missile won't be at its best peak
@@eesangWT you can get locked on for a mila second and you'll think that someone just accidentally locked on to you ... Than 1 min later boom... Your dead... even in these close range maps won't allow the Phoenix missile to be at its best performance... Not like the long range maps where you are 110 miles away from the enemy
@@SakaiEdits1 It goes terminal at ~16km and begins triggering RWR. That's plenty of time to start notching. AIM-54A is NOT a good missile in War Thunder.
@@eesangWT me and my buddy did some testing and he's a good pilot... He had the f16 and I had the f 14 we went 90 miles away from each other and told him to start evading when he hears the RWR warning... And I shot the missile from 70 miles... He even started early, he notched hard went cold did some more notching then he was doing loops 10 seconds later cabom, missile strucked him at mach 2.8, we did it 5 times and he died 4 out of 5 times.... And he's not a bad pilot he's the best, man plays DCS for a living, BVR, CRC... He's good in every aspect, the Phoenix missile is good you just have to know how to use it
Note: The tactic against radar missiles in the second clip (especially Aim-54) will only work at lower altitudes since earlier radars and seekers have a hard time picking up targets which are cold and low to the ground. If you're at high altitude, they will just keep on tracking like nothing happened. Hit that 90 degree angle 👍
Yeah, those pesky F-14 players! As a MiG-23MLA player I don't see why anyone would even bother playing the F-14A. Wouldn't catch me dead in one of those Tomcats, comrade!
how about TWS ? Also i didn't knew about cranking but i know for sure that if i try that with a mig23 it will break wings if you try to pull in a diagonal line instead of vertical/horizontal lines.
TWS in War Thunder is used the same way as other radars, the info is just displayed differently with a cursor overlaid on the selected radar target. You still need to radar lock the selected target to fire SARH missiles at it but you do not need to radar lock the target to fire an AIM-54 at it.
@@goliath3413 Once the AIM-54 gets within 16km it switches to its own radar and will trigger Locked RWR. It does not trigger a Locked RWR before then but will show up as RWR pings. Chaff is... complicated. It can steal a lock but missiles can ignore locks and pursue the strongest radar signature instead. This means chaff is not very useful in head-on situations but it does work well during side or rear-aspect situations vs non-PD radar.

Every missile death is avoidable at top tier unless you're flying very slow so situational awareness is really important. If you survive until the end of a winning match at least you can ground pound. If you're not confident at what your missiles are capable of then you can do limit testing to see what works and what doesn't by shooting them off in questionable environments. This is very underrated, well done! Probably the best tutorial out there.
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for 😤. I’ve actually gotten pretty good at dodging Phoenix missles.
Thank you for this video! It was very easy to understand it unlike those 20 minute videos 😅

From what I’m observing you seem to do your best dodging at 900km/h
cranking doesnt work on the higher french radar missiles, and notable the r24r/t and the aim7f. but everything else works good
i hate the phoenix missile so much that i just tk f14s when their on my team now if i get opportunity to have it look like an accident...
F-14 players are so skilled, i hate them, just spamming missiles and then RTB what kind of players it that

Same with the hairier they are like the top BR version of the hairier fat and garbage, but has good missiles

If you change radar mod when the enemy is notching missile will track anyway xd (at least with mirage 2000)
Yes, but the solution to that is to drop chaff and go cold by flying away because against rear-aspect non-PD radar is when chaff works best.
Im in a su22mr, how do i dodge now?
Tips on top tier?

doesnt work when you cant even get a rwr warning

nice video and can i you add on discord? xD🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
try mirage 2000 and see if this will work against head on aim7f, I bet most of the time will fail. Would like to see your video on this.
