Congratulations on passing your exams! While I'm not even remotely close to being able to start my PhD (only going to be a sophomore this upcoming semester, I still have a long way to go lol), I still had a ton of questions about how this process even worked, and you answered most if not all of them. Congrats again!
Thanks for sharing your experience as you prepared and finally took your PhD candidacy exams. I am starting my PhD this fall and I am excited about the academic journey. Your vlogs really motivate me and I can't wait to get started!
thanks for sharing your experience! i am just embarking on my comps process but still a bit traumatized from the anxiety of my MA thesis defence 2 years ago....😅
Your experience reminded me when I was an undergrad and had to present my thesis and defend it, very nerve-wrecking, but the joy after makes it worth it. I have a question, I’m chilean (hence my different experience as an undergrad), studied a ms at Columbia university and now i want to apply to a phd program in Europe (either Austria, germany or uk) and i wanna know if the comprehensive exams are part of all phd programs or just the ones in the us or your college That’s all, good luck in your summer research and congratulations 🎊
My field is much different with regards to the time frame. We get 8 weeks and no prep time before unless we've been always researching that topic all along. So I'm relatively new to my questions which we designed together but in the 8 weeks the readings and writing are totally new. Thanks for sharing your experience though as the written and oral defense is basically the same so I'll keep that in mind for my defense early July.
Thank you for sharing this experience & congratulations on passing!

Thanks for watching- I hope it continues to be helpful and is perhaps less traumatizing from your MA thesis!
I am starting my PhD in the Fall and would love to see your list. Would you be willing to share your reading list?
Hi! I had three different reading lists- I posted some of the lists in the middle part of the video- if you pause it you can see most of the books!

I take it that most of the literature is going to be relevant for your PhD thesis research?
To be honest only some of it was - many of the other books will be useful for teaching or just general knowledge of the field.

Oh wow- that is very different!! What field are you in? Good luck as you move into this next stage!
