I didn't watch Patrick's video (yet) but if I had to guess ahead of time...that wood won't necessarily make a good wearable ring from the look of the fracturing of the material. Petrified wood is kind of hit and miss as far as nice solid material for projects and without having to deal with adhesives to help "stabilize" the piece.
This video was fun to watch though. I always enjoy the stone cutting videos.

On the other hand, you can actually petrify a 2x4. All you need is hydrochloric acid, either a titanium or silica solution, and an oven capable of being air tight and 1400⁰f+ temps and argon gas. The process takes up to a week including prep. I assume the channel makes enough money to buy or rent the oven and the rest is cheap as dirt

So the way that petrification occurs is as the wood degrades minerals are absorbed by the wood taking its place. Ergo, there is little if any remaining wood. What you have here is mineral. (i.e. rock )

many decades ago they were actually 2x4. then when smooth finished for easy handling by common people at the big box stores they became slightly smaller, the after awhile the big processors realized no-one cared and made them even thinner. stop them before they do.
lots of explosions, and lots and lots of guns and
