Obviously, we’re aware this is going to be an incredibly divisive video, and we do apologise if your personal favourite film didn't make it. This list is based off over 3,500 individual film submissions on our audience survey, so we've tried to be as inclusive as possible, but with a decade that's given us hundreds upon hundreds of incredible movies, it truly is tough to sum-up 10 years of cinema with just 25 picks. However as always, please do comment your opinions down below and we'll try to get back to you where we can, and please do consider subscribing if you haven't yet.

@@yourebreakingmyballs4787 I am not judging you at all. We all have our own taste. The movie is definitely a slow burn, which I like, but others may find boring. What was your favorite movie of the 2010's?

I don't agree with your No. 3 and No. 2. I have a different opinion. but your No. 1 is spot on. Inception is without a doubt the best movie on this list. Inception is an experience, it feels like a dream. the visuals are overwhelming, besides the overwhelming story, the overwhelming love story, and the great actors. it is unmatched. Chris Nolan's best.
Really? I absolutely disagree. Whiplash and Parasite are some of the best written, well acted, well shot and intense movies of the decade and can find little to nothing to dislike about them.
You guys did a great job on that video, i totally forgot i voted that. Its a good consept i wish to see more video with same format as other decades. Keep it up the good work and thank you !

Some curious picks for this list. If anything it made me ponder on the resonance these films have had on people and some of these I’ve seen repeatedly throughout critic’s polls of the best films of the decade. Decent list overall
I was so certain The Master would be #1. Good list, but shocked not to find it there. I’d personally swap out Inception, La La Land, 1917, Django Unchained, and Three Billboards for The Florida Project, Under the Skin, Manchester by the Sea, Lady Bird, and First Reformed. Although I do love all 10 of those movies. Other great ones I feel I should mention are Mommy, American Honey, Shame, If Beale Street Could Talk, Call Me By Your Name, It’s Such a Beautiful Day, Burning, and Uncut Gems.
The 70's were a great time for artistic freedom for filmmakers within the major studio system. Some of the most influential movies ever made were during the 70's. The 80's saw that artistic freedom chocked a bit. But the economic boom created some of the most influential adventurous and action type movies by way of John McTiernan and James Cameron. As well as the 80's charm of John Hughes and such. You could say the 80's were the most fun and the summer blockbuster was born. The 90's were sort of a synthesis of the previous two decades. The summer blockbuster was bigger than ever, and the rise of the independent film movement that had begun about the mid-80's was in full swing with tons of art house theaters everywhere that played those particular movies. Also tons of independent arthouse movie studios yet to be bought out by the big ones (which eventually did happen). Directors such as Jim Jarmusch, Tarrantino, Hal Hartley, Sorderbergh, Cameron Crowe, Gus Van Zant, Coen Brothers, Abel Farrara, Kevin Smith and Richard Linklater all thrived. Those are just a few examples. I would call the 90's the most prolific decade in the history of cinema. There were tons of bad movies, but there were tons of great ones, as well as hidden gems still being discovered from the 90's. Also, international/foreign cinema increased into the arthouse theaters with directors like Wong Kar-wai, Atom Egoyan, Jane Campion, and Abbas Kiarostami. The mid-budgeted movies thrived, bigger studio making low key drama's and others with an artistic bent could actually get people into theaters just by word of mouth or star power. Miramax would sort of come to exemplify this. Celluloid film was still the main source of movie making that continued to be the go-to through the first decade of the 2000's. After the 90's, there is a noticeable drop in quality and that sense of movies really feeling like an 'event'. the first decade of the 2000's were okay, but after that it really went downhill in my opinion. But the point of my post is to say that the 90's are definitely underrated, even though it had the worst 'movie poster art' on the whole. But all three decades, the 70's, 80's, and 90's are probably the most pivotal in the history of cinema, reaching its ultimate crescendo. Especially in context of movies as a theatrical event and experience. Though the home video market thrived through the 80's and 90's, everyone still agreed nothing could touch the theatrical experience. For this is what filmmakers had in mind when they made their movies.
i love Jim Jarmusch movies. i agree that era is like the gift that keeps on giving, with so much to uncover. i know the newer eras have some of that too, but i don't know much about them yet (which is why i'm here lol) and i can't tell if its as vast

Inception is literally my favourite film of all time, words cannot explain how much I love this film and how great I think it is, so happy it was number 1
I just wanted to say while I think the movie is overrated.. it changed my life in a way. I was 16 ish when it came out and I wasn’t enjoying movies I was a teenage boy going with my friends to the cinema and seeing things like fast and furious and other action blockbusters I hated them while all my friends loved them I thought maybe I didn’t like movies anymore. Then I went to the theatre with my parents we went to see inception.. it blew me away it made me realize I don’t hate movies I love them when they’re done well and artistic expressions. So while I think it’s overrated I’ll always appreciate what it did for young me in making me realize I love movies and inspiring me to go back through the decades and watch other amazing films that aren’t just flipping cars and explosions.
@@Prodbyjah464 Its rated as number one of the decade here... i dont even think its nolans best movie of the decade not even close. The characters other than leos are all pretty meh. I also think the plot is pretty average especially for nolan. it felt to me like it wants you to feel like its super complex and interesting while not really being either. Also Some of the "rules" he's set for the world seem pretty loose and like they just change whenever its convenient for him to tell the story. None of the "bad guys" feel like much of anything. Theyre all just a militia defending peoples minds with no other real motivation which makes them pointless canon fodder that just keep sprinting at the antagonists for action sake..its a wonderful spectacle piece and Dont get me wrong i do enjoy this movie. I just feel its overrated by some people, to be the best movie of the decade you'd have to do a hell of a lot better. id probably put it in my top 35 of the decade or so though so its not like i dislike it by any means.
@@bakergames6275 first off there are pretty obvious reasons as to why nobody else has character development then Cobb, Cobb is the protagonist first off but even then there are theory’s that state that every other character (Arthur, Eames, yusuf, saint i and Ariadne) are all different parts of his subconscious. The plot isn’t complex but I think that just depends on who you ask because a lot of people get confused by it but I’d say if you watch close it’s pretty interesting, the way Nolan creates these dream worlds and works the plot around them does make sense and never really feels loose for me, for example I hear a lot of people say that gravity in inception makes no sense considering only the second level is effected and not the third as well. That’s because for the first level Arthur was the dreamer meaning for his dream in the second level he and everyone else would be effected by gravity but in the third level because Eames is the dreamer, no one is effected that much, as well as the level is much larger then others so gravity would have a different effect. I can go on for other reasons as to why the ‘rules’ aren’t really that loose at least for me but I’d just be beating a dead horse. Also the militarised projections are cannon fodder because they’re part of someone’s subconscious, they’re not actual people or the antagonist either, they’re set up as an obstacle the team must face because they didn’t realise that Fischers mind would be trained. It’s made pretty clear early on that the antagonist is mal in cobbs mind as her subconscious projection is constantly harming him and trying to ruin his missions and tempting him to stay in the dream. You learn later on that she killed herself because dom had planted the idea that her world wasn’t real in limbo and that carried on to the real world. So throughout the film his guilt and grief over that manifests into his projection of her antagonising him. I’m not saying it’s a perfect movie because it’s not but the flaws you have I’ve never had an isssue you with and therefore seem kinda invalid, also just cause I’m curious what would you consider Nolan’s best film of the last decade to be?

This is important. Apparently the best films of the decade have the biggest marketing budgets and the best marketing teams and the most popular movie stars. The Tree of Life is my favorite film on this list.
How ? That movie is unwatchable. I tried twice and couldn't get to half of it. There is no development. You are given zero chance to empathize with the charactes. - "Look at these two couples of whom you never heard. They suffered a tragic death." - So what ? - "Let's contemplate that for one hour with sad, slow music and weird angled over the shoulder shots" - No !
Inception was probably my biggest disappointment of all time. I remember the high hopes I had for it as some sort of a mystery thriller and it ended up being a boring and pointless non stop action movie with explosions, car chases, explosions, guns, explosions, rocket launchers and explosions. I really don't understand how it got so overrated.
Joker should’ve been a top 10 I also feel like pain and gain is criminally underrated, it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. Maybe it’s because they put it in the comedic category instead of straight up action thriller, who knows.
Finally a movie list without the so-unanimously acclaimed Call Me By Your Name. I guess I missed the memo on that movie greatness... And I cannot be sorry for it whatsoever. Great list!
I haven’t even watched this video yet but if PTA’s ‘The Master’ (2012) isn’t in the top 3, this list is trash. The Master is one of the greatest films ever made and is so tragically beautiful, in its messaging as well as acting, cinematography on down, it gets some love and recognition nowadays but I feel another 10 years or so it will consistently rank at the top of every greatest films of the 2010’s or even greatest films of the 21st century.
I'm sorry, I just can't take this list seriously when Birdman and Gone Girl are honorable mentions and Gravity isn't even mentioned. Inception, really?
What a joke of a list - putting BR:2049, Intertellar on the list is one thing, but putting it above Social Network and Wold of Wall street, cinematic perfections, is complete bollocks. Are visuals and underlying phylosophical content the only things that matter to you? Why do people rate this movie so high? It has serious problems with plot and editing. Visually stunning , yes , and Dickens is fantabulous, but , e.g., characters like Leto's is quite out of place and just harm the story and the overall pacing leaves a lot to be desired. P.S. Harrison Ford was also wasted and there was no need to wait for a sequel more than a decade for me personally. Plus, the second half really falls flat.
The fact PT Andersons “The Master” isn’t a top 3-5 films of the decade much less not even on this list at all, makes this whole video a joke. Don’t bother making videos like these if you leave out obvious, glaring omissions such as leaving off The Master.

Surprised but glad to see Portrait of a Lady on Fire in the honourable mentions. From how the list was going, it came as a big surprise.

Agreed. It is a much better movie than Inception. I am shocked that it did not make the list.
I thought it was a boring movie, don't kill me pls
@@yourebreakingmyballs4787 I am not judging you at all. We all have our own taste. The movie is definitely a slow burn, which I like, but others may find boring. What was your favorite movie of the 2010's?
@@feliciahorne8969 No favorite, but probably it's between Wolf of WS, Infinity War, Interstellar and Inception. Shout-out to Spotlight and Get Out
**fart noises**
Black Swan is my favorite film of the 2010s.
Interstellar😍
One of the only films I rewatched in its entirety the following day. A modern Sci-fi classic, no doubt.
Earth is flat. Eric dubay.
Boring
I was getting nervous when Sicario wasn't mentioned, but at least it got an honorable mention.
didnt expect whiplash to be here but glad u put it in 🙂

2: The Act of Killing
1: The Tree of Life
wow you liked a seperation what really did you get from it , I appreciate though
This list is so good
Some curious picks for this list.
Other great ones I feel I should mention are Mommy, American Honey, Shame, If Beale Street Could Talk, Call Me By Your Name, It’s Such a Beautiful Day, Burning, and Uncut Gems.
you like boring movies lol, swapping out action packed ones for way slower movies
Dude The master is the most boring movie in history.
The Master is among the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
You sir have great taste. People with low attention spans are naturally going to find The Master boring…
@@stevenbadillo7868 in hindsight I’d keep Django in over Lady Bird lol
This could be one of the most perfect and coherent statements ever submitted to the TH-cam comment section.
i love Jim Jarmusch movies. i agree that era is like the gift that keeps on giving, with so much to uncover. i know the newer eras have some of that too, but i don't know much about them yet (which is why i'm here lol) and i can't tell if its as vast

@@bakergames6275 that’s fair but can I ask why you think it’s overrated?
If you haven’t seen it, would definitely recommend Isle of Dogs which is one of my personal faves.

They suffered a tragic death."
- So what ?
- "Let's contemplate that for one hour with sad, slow music and weird angled over the shoulder shots"
- No !
Great list
Tree of Life stands way above the other great films on this list. It's in a class by itself like 2001.
It's pretentious . New World is much tasteful
@@CATDHD One can argue that it is pretentious but it is also very human.
I appreciate and admire the movie, but there is just so much I find better and 2001 I think stands leagues above it.
As a Dane im proud to see the hunt being mentioned❤❤❤
Inception was probably my biggest disappointment of all time. I remember the high hopes I had for it as some sort of a mystery thriller and it ended up being a boring and pointless non stop action movie with explosions, car chases, explosions, guns, explosions, rocket launchers and explosions. I really don't understand how it got so overrated.
Same here. It was technically masterful, but there wasn't any point to all that was happening.
Ex Machina was better than Her but hey that might just be me
So we're just not going to talk Dunkirk at all then?
Can you do the top 10 action thiller films
Thanks for the suggestion. We can definitely look at doing this list in the coming weeks!
Joker should’ve been a top 10
I also feel like pain and gain is criminally underrated, it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. Maybe it’s because they put it in the comedic category instead of straight up action thriller, who knows.
joker is just a taxi driver remake, nothing new
@@iskandarhusainkhan627 That’s not true in in the slightest.
Finally a movie list without the so-unanimously acclaimed Call Me By Your Name. I guess I missed the memo on that movie greatness... And I cannot be sorry for it whatsoever. Great list!
Hell or High Water should be here.
bridesmaids
I haven’t even watched this video yet but if PTA’s ‘The Master’ (2012) isn’t in the top 3, this list is trash. The Master is one of the greatest films ever made and is so tragically beautiful, in its messaging as well as acting, cinematography on down, it gets some love and recognition nowadays but I feel another 10 years or so it will consistently rank at the top of every greatest films of the 2010’s or even greatest films of the 21st century.
Looks like these are some terrible times for cinema
But it's not a top 25 list if you leave out top 25 films because of director.
I'm sorry, I just can't take this list seriously when Birdman and Gone Girl are honorable mentions and Gravity isn't even mentioned. Inception, really?
Most people have probably guessed it

dallas buyers club?
My point exactly
Plus, the second half really falls flat.
great list
Good lost but I’d get 1917 the hell out if this video and move get out and interstellar to honors me mentions also where the hell is the master?
For me it’s Midsommar
Inception number one 😂🤣😂
And Sicario in "honorable mentions" when it's better than at least 15 movies of your list.
Spiderman? Really?
Great list but Inception as first bothered me... should be top 1 as most overrated movies of the decade.
Totaly agree.

What about the danish girl and the favourite
The fact PT Andersons “The Master” isn’t a top 3-5 films of the decade much less not even on this list at all, makes this whole video a joke. Don’t bother making videos like these if you leave out obvious, glaring omissions such as leaving off The Master.
