Thank you Vasilli for a really informative session. I have never been confident to prune my Plum tree and it's probably 10 years old growing in a Rootex Bag. It is very vigorous has fabulous blossom but generally hardly any fruit..the pigeons eat the leaves...you have given me the confidence to have a go at pruning and hopefully if its smaller I'll be able to net it and it may start to fruit...🤞😊
I had my 2 plum trees cut down drastically last week- to below fence height. It was so hot last January that my plums turned into prunes on the tree. I am still wondering why the birds never went for them- the black slightly sour ones as traditionally used to make sljivovica plum brandy. If too much was cut off, my neighbour has 2 perfectly pruned trees growing on the side fence line- just his had only a handful of fruit last year.
"Better late than never" 👍
We're doing all our orchard pruning this weekend because I haven't gotten to it. Thanks for the tips.
