I bought this cd at Deaf Ear Records, in LaCrosse, WI in 1995. I was looking for 'On the Mouth', but they didn't have it. Around the same time I discovered other great indie bands such as Jawbox, Archers of Loaf, The Raymond Brake, Meices, The Dismemberment Plan, Seaweed, and Shiner. To this day, I still listen to the same bands I loved almost 25 years ago. Great music stands the test of time.
I was a metal kid that sometimes watched 120 minutes in the 90's, and this song would always come on & blow my mind. I'd wait for that opening drum part, because they'd play it every Sunday.
Mac and the gang, seems like they have been putting out music for my enjoyment for the last two decades and Funny how there's so few who appreciate how good they are!
Why is it that in the 80's I was a decade or two behind in my love of music...and now again, I'm back to being a decade or so behind? Am I really that old or does music just suck that much these days?
The video for Precision Auto made me cry the last time I saw it. Their show at the Cats Cradle at merge this year in 2024 is sold out. I'm going next year and going to spend a couple days there. Ain't going back too far I. Those woods though. 😂
So this is the first part We're drunk and the selfless relentless caresses How long must the first part last Before we make our respective messes? Well all the clocks wound down Well all the clocks wound down And all the doors thrown open One good minute could last me a whole year One good minute will last me a whole year Well it's a delicate line We draw it in pink We draw it in white So take your time with it Yeah take your time I have remembered these things before Whispered phrases and emotions I have remembered these things before Whispered phrases and emotions And I know that they will only I know that they will only haunt me One good minute could last me a whole year One good minute will last me a whole year Well it's a delicate line We draw it in pink We draw it in white So take your time with it Yeah take your time
Totally... I remember this video. Raleigh/Chapel Hill really had it going back then: Superchunk, Polvo, Archers of Loaf, etc. I imagine they still have a great scene, but I couldn't name any bands today.
They we're actually better on this album than any album that came after. In my opinion their sound has kind of devolved since. I feel like this sound must have inspired so many other indie rock bands like Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, Death Cab for Cutie, the Getup Kids, etc.
What saddens me is horseshit bands like Greenday cash in on being "PUNK ROCK, all the while Superchunk who towers over them talent wise toils in relative obscurity. Wake the fuck up people!
Can you imagine growing up in a big family where there's absolutely no discipline and no guidance will I've seen it sadly to say no future it's a child is rebellious all the time and doesn't want to teach themselves anything or doesn't want to listen to any Authority whatsoever eventually it will play Havoc and a child that ends up uneducated and refuses to go to school can end up on drugs we all need some form of guidance which is useful and it's parents responsibility to set the grade example for the children to follow and I think a lot of children that are brought up an environment where there's no set rules Orr extreme discipline it's going to affect them mentally emotionally. I knew one family were there was always fighting with the boys and the father wasn't there the mother didn't step in and they are very confrontational even in their 60s now they still don't get along. A father should be in a son's life if they grow up as long as the parents are there for the children it helps immensely, providing that the father is not an alcoholic or a drug dealer or takes drugs himself. Yeah it's really sad when you see families that are dysfunctional, I know Wonder they have to learn the hard way because there was no one setting the example on how to make your life easy without learning the hard way

Listened to this whole record today. Still holds up.
Foolish is such an amazing album. So many great memories from this time in my life.
I was a metal kid that sometimes watched 120 minutes in the 90's, and this song
would always come on & blow my mind.

"How long does the first part last..." This song always chokes me up. :(
That smile at 1:45 has been making me a little giddy for a quarter of a century now.
Mac and the gang, seems like they have been putting out music for my enjoyment for the last two decades and Funny how there's so few who appreciate how good they are!
It is a mystery, but then again it might explain what has happened in the US in the past 5 or so years ! There's no accounting for taste !
Now it's 3 decades. 😂
They stayed round my house when they played Brixton and elsewhere. Great lads and lasses
I just discovered this band, holy shit!!!
Incomparably cool and pristine indie music.
I love Superchunk! Great Friday night listening with some beers. 🍻
I bought this cd at Amoeba in Los Angeles about a week ago while I was visiting my boyfriend. It's totally awesome!
love the song. Can't find any band like them in 2017....
Vundabar
Oso oso - The Yunahon Mixtape
Solid 90s Research Triangle vibes.
Why is it that in the 80's I was a decade or two behind in my love of music...and now again, I'm back to being a decade or so behind? Am I really that old or does music just suck that much these days?
You can see NC in any Superchunk video - really nice.
Oh my God this comment. Yes!!! You must have lived there too. Chapel Hill was very fun. This is a rush of memories that I love.

Probs my favourite song ever. By any band. So good.
So this is the first part
We're drunk and the selfless relentless caresses
How long must the first part last
Before we make our respective messes?
Well all the clocks wound down
Well all the clocks wound down
And all the doors thrown open
One good minute could last me a whole year
One good minute will last me a whole year
Well it's a delicate line
We draw it in pink
We draw it in white
So take your time with it
Yeah take your time
I have remembered these things before
Whispered phrases and emotions
I have remembered these things before
Whispered phrases and emotions
And I know that they will only
I know that they will only haunt me
One good minute could last me a whole year
One good minute will last me a whole year
Well it's a delicate line
We draw it in pink
We draw it in white
So take your time with it
Yeah take your time

I love dance records like this but they never give them a chance in the nighclubs; they always play that same old Top 40 S-H-I-T.
i was the 1000 like
i was the 1000th like but then someone unliked . so now its 999 likes again. i cant win
Chank
hehe, that baby in the beginning is probably in college....
That baby has likely moved on to The Workforce now. Poor thing. ;^)
i love this song but always thought it was a weird choice for a single on an album with songs like water wings and why do you have to put a date
They take Belly off the record player and put on the Breeders and then dance like crazy!
What saddens me is horseshit bands like Greenday cash in on being "PUNK ROCK, all the while Superchunk who towers over them talent wise toils in relative obscurity. Wake the fuck up people!

fucken crazy how bland this band is
