This was such a huge hit and became something everyone always sang. I was a bartender and at closing someone would always start this song

I first heard this as a young girl riding in the car with my Momma. It was poignant and made me feel kinda sad. That's when we talked about aging, how one feels exactly the same inside. She told me that when she would look in the mirror, she would think, "who is that old lady?". Older but feeling the same. Now at 63, I know exactly what she means! 😹 This has an old world sound which is comforting to some. Thanks for sharing! 😽💋🎶

She has no auto tune so that is pretty good pitch.

Her lyrics are actually very prolific if you listen how ther verses gradually grow from optimistic youth to melancholy older years..
and the phrase "Those were the days my friend" is still a popular tagline today

Hi, I'm so glad you guys have this song on your page. When I get a chance to sit and smoke , between chores and grandbabies , I'll watch a bunch of videos. Folk, Folk Rock, classic Rock, Classic Country, Folk Country, Outlaw Country, and Soft Rock are my favs. My kids will ask me , what genre of music am I watching , so they can figure out how long they have to wait on me. They would rather , that I watch some Folk Music or Folk Rock rather than Soft Rock or Outlaw Classic Country because Folk Music songs are usually shorter than the story songs of SoftRock and Classic Country. They're beginning to recognize and tell me of the songs and Reactors voices they hear. Thank you .

Not quite.. Mary entered Eurovision with" Knock Knock who's there.. a song she hated. But anyway, Dana won. TWTD was her first and most famous hit, produced by Paul McCartney. Mary still makes albums, but writes her own songs.

Boring, making you sleepy - okay. That song is looked back upon with a lot of affection so I hugely disagree with you on that, though I respect you have your own musical tastes so respect your individual opinion. Considering when it was written and how lyrically it lent it to, for a lot of people back then it was kind of a looking into the upcoming decade ahead with hint of uncertainty/ even apprehension as to how the 70's would be considering for the most part how an amazing period the 60's had been in so many ways and why I would certainly swap being born in the 60's and living that time period than now!

I was lucky enough to live through the '60s, such an incredible 10 year period with a lot of changes musically, culturally, and fashion. I became 13 in 1960 and was 22 in 1969. I don't like being this old now, but never trade being young in the '60s. I wish you could have been there.
