my dad had a mk1 combo for years until 2016 then the combo (corca c front end) until just recently. Scrapped the Corsa C front ended van a few weeks ago after it was sat on the drive for 2 years. It started up first turn of the key. Mk1's were the best ones having the izusu engines ;) Same engines in the Astra Eco4 at £30 a year tax. Rare as hens teeth now ;)
Was never a fan of the Corsa c for years . Over the last few years I have on couple of occasions tried to buy a 1.8 Corsa c as I think they will be a future retro classic. The MK1 combos are rare in the UK There are a few owners out there. People are switching away from retro cars to modern vehicles practical daily commuting family cars 🥱
@@CarsAndRubberDucks lol indeed! The body gives up long before the engine usually does! They’re not the fastest things in the world, but a brilliant work horse. 👍
Isuzu engine is a winner, parts for the Combo van I imagine are hard to find now especially at the rear. I have a 3 door corsa B but do like the vans, they are rare beasts now.
I have few times nearly bought a wee Corsa b car , just couldn't justify another vehicle as I have the van and Calibra to sort plus another vehicle . And the usual work, personal life , UK weather and the old I will do it next weekend every weekend 😀. Time passes quickly . Is your Corsa b standard or been modified?
@@CursedBeard Thanks I need to figure out how to filter sound better. Sorry to hear you made the mistake of getting a combo b aswell lol. How long you had yours?
What are your plans for it ? I bought a mk7 transit and it's in a worse state of rust compared to the Corsa ..only advantage is you can buy most of the transit repair panels cheap.
@@CarsAndRubberDucks Probably just tart her up a bit and take her to the car shows along with the Corsa. Yeah Transits are bad for it, no birds nests in the mk7 then haha? Yeah I've already had to get a passenger Combo wing sent up from Opel spares in Portugal. Hard to find stuff in the UK
Totally agree . Compared to most Morden diesel with sensors everywhere they are more reliable...just ultra slow. Although I am sure Americans would laugh and throw down one of Thier Cummins diesel engines.
The mpg is amazing on them . The van I had before I took a long drive to collect parts from Facebook guy. I thought fuel guage was faulty . I have a 1.7td 8v engine I believe is from a MK3 astra and has the better turbo I was told . Once I sort welding it's next on the list and hopefully it runs as sat a while . Just to give it but more oomphi . I live rural and that old engine is not good at overtaking tractors 🤦♂️

Good little vans, had a couple of them. Those engines go on forever.
They were clearly designed with the knowledge they won't get looked after they just keep going.
They won't win any races especially uphill lol.

@CursedBeard aye it's odd you cannot get parts in , UK yet in Europe it's easier
YA the izusu engine are bullet proof it's the perfect apocalypse engine
Long as you are not in a Car chase 🤣
if anyone reading this has a intact roof pod please let me know!
I go as far as saying the best diesel engine ever made 1.7 Isuzu engine
