Great review, thaks for it. He was a good musician, like the other members of the BC-Sweet era. Without him The Sweet were no longer the same. So sad his life ends so early.

I once worked with a young woman whose Dad used to run a club called The Grey Topper in Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire, the Sweet appeared there many times throughout the 70s. She told me one day she was off school poorly and wandered down to the function room where the Sweet boys were practicing ready for the show that night. She sat at a table just watching them, then they had a break and Brian walked over to her and asked her why she wasn't at school, when she told him he got his jacket and put it round her shoulders and gave her a big hug! She said he was such a nice man! I thought he was gorgeous during their heyday and always wanted my hair the same style as Brian's!

You are so correct darlin. I too, am an addict however, I recognized that I have a very addictive personality. So I avoid anything that might be a problem. My former husband and I ran 978 miles from home to overcome an addiction to meth. I have been clean ever since 1-1-85. But, my husband used alcohol to get off meth. That alcohol addiction took his life in 2007. I do everything I can to avoid addictive things because I'm all my precious children have left. But I still grieve for those that just can't. My new man is an ordained minister and knows my past....we've been friends 50 years and lost our spouses just hours apart. His wonderful love gives me hope and inspires me to continue the sober life. I'm fixing to be a great grandmother and WANT to be here. Addicts don't choose to be addicts, mine I feel, is a personality flaw.

The Sweet Shoppe aka The Sweet aka Sweet. Sweet has been eligible to be inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 1999. As of July 3, 2023, they have still NEVER been Nominated or Inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Of the four original founding members, Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Andy Scott and Mick Tucker, the only surviving member is Andy Scott. More than seven of their songs have appeared on the soundtracks of over 100 movies and TV shows. Most recently on two of The Guardians of the Galaxy movie soundtracks. How tragic that Sweet may never be Hall of Fame Inductees, and if they are, at this point it would be posthumously for three of the founding member.
I've written The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice to complain about the way bands and solo artists are selected for induction. L L Cool J
is a Hall of Fame Inductee, but not Sweet, a rock & roll band that was not only very talented, but a rock & roll band that helped pave the way for the 80's Big Hair and Glam bands of my generation. ❤

@@seltaeb3302 I have long thought that there is a very interesting documentary to be made concerning the whole situation. It is certainly noticeable how Brian and Mark looked more alike as they aged.

The Sweet was such a great band. I loved Brian's voice. Being a drummer, Mick Tucker was one of my influences. The whole band was talented. Mick was one if the most underrated drummers in drumming history. If not, the most underrated. He was Jon Bonham good!

Damn!!! I have been a huge fan of Sweet since I first heard "Little Willie" when I was 10 years old in 1972, but I am ashamed to say that I had absolutely no idea the horrible things that Brian Connelly went through until now!!! But yes, even now at my age of almost 63, I still listen to everything Sweet, especially the early years, and my favorite albums are definitely Desolation Boulevard and Give Us A Wink!!! And in my opinion, this music was before it's time as Sweet paved the road for many other up and coming bands that were hugly influenced by Sweet!!! Ernie Wilber, and R.I.P Brian Connelly, and anyone else Sweet whose no longer here with us!!!
