Jennifer Holliday was the star in the play (beginning 1981) and her performance is what made this song iconic. There is an incredible performance available on TH-cam featuring Hudson and Holliday singing this song together. Jennifer Hudson is the youngest person to ever become an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award winner)! She is a true American Treasure, and one of the greatest vocalists of our times.
