    PSA: If you wish to use CHD files and you're starting with BIN/CUE, you must edit the CUE file by changing "CDI/2352" to "MODE2/2352" prior to using CHDMAN.

      How does one go about doing that? I've noticed that the files marked with [DVC] will not work due to needing a "digital video cartridge". Will this method work with those files?

    Nice tutorial. Only thing is I couldn't get the controller working using the old MAME core. Only mouse and keyboard. After switching to the new Libretro: Same CDI core, installing the bios file and making making sure the Roms/Games were in the CHD format. Controller now works. Only problem I have is in games like Link, Zelda and arcade classics. Movement seems to be stuck drifting in the one diagonal direction.

    • @gregsmith9183
      @gregsmith9183 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SCORPION8176 You can also use the MAME core to play CD-i games. That just means having to configure the inputs from mouse and keyboard to controller for each game tile by pressing the tab key on the keyboard. Problem is it doesn't seem to save the changes. So having to configure the controller settings each time you start the game. Also no hotkey setting in MAME. Meaning having to press Escape on the keyboard to exit the game.

    How did you get the bin and cue files to run? I copied Arcade Classics bin and cue files to the CDi directory and when I selected the game with te controller it just went back to the game select screen after a few seconds, I can only get chd files to play

    A doubt, I tried to run dragon's air and the 7 guest, when starting the game. a message appears on the screen saying that I need an expansion cartridge. I thought the emulator would not ask. I already had a Cdi 220 and by the way I was limited because of this cartridge. How to add inside the emulator???? thanks!

      Yep, some games will tell you that you need a video cartridge or something.
      Currently I dont think there is a fix for this.

  • @dallase1
    @dallase1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I found %75 games Don't work because any game that needs the MPEG decompression add on cartridge won't work because there is no emulation support for it, no BIOS files for the MPEG Video decompression cartridge so if you try to play a game that requires the cartridge you will get a message to power off the system and install the MPEG Video decompression cartridge.

    • @fonzitheman

      Yep.
      There doesnt seem to be a work around or fix for that yet.

    Dont think you mentioned that quite a number of the cdi games when booting show a message that says Digital Video Cartridge required.
    As far as I know there is no work around or fix for this yet.

    I transferred the image and sound to the TV with HDMI, when the games are opened with the bezel, the sound becomes very stiff and distorted. It clears up when you open it without the bezel. what's the problem ?

    Okay, having a problem, Batocera come up, it shows the CD-I folder... lets me go into it, I hit launch game and it crashes back to the menu.... Anyone have ideas? Did I do this wrong or is it just a bad file?

      Have you got the required cdi bios file? The bios zip for cdi should have 4 files inside it.

    • @LoneWolf-gz9mr
      @LoneWolf-gz9mr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fonzitheman Yeah fixed that problem.. I think it's coming from the fact that the main file is a .c2 file (not bin or iso or anything else.) I have no idea what a .c2 even IS, so I have more research to do... And that's the "choke point". It still just drops me to the main menu. Thanx for the advice though... I appreciate it.

      @@fonzitheman Thanx again, yeah I did it more out of intellectual curiosity... And I hit the error u said, Seems weird that it would require a cartridge... Not a cd... And then I found one that was this .c2 format... And since I had never heard of it... I thought it might work... But it's not recognized as ANYTHING of anything, that I've found... But it is an interesting curiosity... Meh most emulators are hit-and-miss

    I see you have Arcade Classics in iso format which DOES NOT WORK, on my system it goes to that black screen like it's going to play and then after a bout 6 seconds it goes back to the game select screen. I searched archive.org and did Not find Arcade Classics, I found a CDi compilation file elsewhere and it had Namco Arcade Classics but like I stated above it does not work. Why won't you provide the location of the games you downloaded.

    • @BatoceraNation
      @BatoceraNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to share the exact location of the files, but I got in trouble and was given a warning because of copyright reasons. But if you look closely at the location where I talked about homebrew, you will see the other games there. I got the Arcade Classics 1996 Namco Philips EU compilation iso file from that same collection and the iso file worked for me.

    • @fonzitheman

      Was only a matter of time before BN would get a warning for providing links to roms I guess.

    • @dallase1
      @dallase1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got Arcade Classics to work found the EU version, not very good, the only good game is Ms Pac Man. The different style graphics are interesting but the sound is kind of irritating, not as bad as Galaga and Galaxian. Galaga is way to hard and has horrible clunky control and Galaxian's sounds are horrible, like a crappy Bootleg Rip off of Galaxian. The second intermission of Ms Pac Man should be called the Crawl, it 's so slow and the Animation gets behind the Music, long after the song stops the animation is still going on, they should have made Pac Man and Ms Pac Man have walkers or something.
      Now I know why the system failed, most games are crap, mainly just Sega CD FMV type games with better quality FMV. Hotel Mario is good until it gets way to hard on the Boss for the first Hotel, he moves way too fast and the doors keep opening way too fast and you can't keep up and just end up dying because he keeps running into you. It sucks that even the EU version of the best game on the system Mutant Rampage Body Slam does not play. Family Games 1 and 2 are just shovel wear and so are Golden Classics 1 and 2, the Defender Ripoff is even more frustratingly hard than Defender and the Space Invaders Rip Off has horrible control and is too hard and the sound effects of people screaming gets annoying quick, but the Centipede Clone is pretty good, not too horribly hard. Lemmings is good if you use a mouse, probably the best and one of the few good games on the system. If only they could get Mutant Rampage Body Slam to play.
