Also, I agree completely with your comment last night, I hate e-waaste and don't like the way we worked my old company. swappping fulll boards in repairs is not the way to go. This is why I want to learn this stuff. Thanks very much, great content as always. Are you putting up the video of the completion of the reball from last night. I'd love to know how you got on with removing those bridged balls. Cheers m8. Also I swear by mx4 for everything i fix lol
Thanks for the video. My opinion for techs not cleaning consoles, is that they could get blamed for potentially breaking something. Just fixing whatever issue is safer for them.
If we speculate a bit, what could cause the tester to work but not the screen? My guess is it was too low voltage for the screen to work but the tester is more sensitive and therefore picked up enough voltage.
pretty good deal and figured it was gonna be the hdmi chip once i saw the black screen. Def right about them not being able to sell for much, took me over 2 months to sell one i had fixed
I prefer to tin my chipsets before trying to install. You don’t tin your chipsets before installation? Makes a big difference and works well with HDMI Ports too!
Got one with a beep on and a beep off. Fan ramps for a second. Sometimes the light comes on. Watching with a thermal cam you can see mosfets and cpu come on. It has a damaged hdmi port.. try replacing that today. Board had all kinds of corrosion by the power rails.
Looks like the nand chip is heating up funny. Normally you can see a clock heat signature on the backside when booting. This one get hot on the southbirdge side and board shuts down
Haha thanks mate. Yeah I think that's probably what it is. It likely sends the resolution into some weird unknown resolution but the data signals are technically still there
I think it is better to check the signals with an oscilloscope on the coils to hdmi or even on an hdmi tester. just as an idea. then you know for sure if the problem is with the hdmi decoder. you are the best anyway.
Hi phil, im having this exact issue right now, i had been away for 2 weeks and it was broken like this when i came back, what could have caused such an issue? Thanks
Hi all, I would like to start doing the same "activity" to have a second entrance. I need some info, for example from which site do you buy chips and spare parts such as retimer, m92, hdmi port, etc ??
I work on cars sometimes if i use a circuite tester inuf power comes threw to lite up the led but not inuf to power the unit its connected to maybe the same thing with a hdmi tester dunno
you got a link to contact you at... there is this xbox series x for 102 currently.. got just under 2 hours untill it's finished. I've watched it for a few days and has gone up slowly. I was gonna get it to have it fixed but the price I was quoted, it wouldn't of been worth it.
Those encoders seem to fail alot to be honest , had a one X that failed less then 24 hours from purchase new , obviously i got it exchange, but. man it was annoying at the time .
Funny! I have the same problem with my capture card, when I turn off my soldering iron (Weller 1010) the capture card freezes and I need to unplug and plug it again. But also my Hi-Fi is on the same power input as my soldering station, when I turn it off you can hear literally hear it in the boxes, maybe some current spike?
Yeah I think it's either that or a bad ground somewhere. Maybe the soldering iron has a defect and isn't grounded properly? I can hear a hum from the power supply inside my iron too! I think I may try isolating the iron from the rest of the circuit because it definitely shouldn't be happening
Hi Phil, great stuff, I was just wondering, would it be beneficial to get a microscope with a secondary endoscope camera for repairs. or just go for a better boom stand etc. where should my money be spent when picking a scope? Cheers mate edit: Sorry but I dont think i could get the wife to spend 300 on a scope and another 200 to ship from your listing but it has given me an idea, think 250-300 my max allowance lol
Talking about cleaning power supplies , I tried cleaning the ps4 slim power supply with ipa and bcs the ps4 power supply is revealing with its capacitors my entire hand got a massive shock , was fine after 2mins tho luckily 😂
Yeah I've done that too, certainly wakes you up 😂 on a serious note though if you have an underlying heart condition it can cause serious problems, or for example if you use a pacemaker
If you don't mind, please share where you bought this HDMI tester, please? I mean to design the same one based on the voltages we have on the HDMI port. I'm unable to find it anywhere. Would save me a hassle of the design and making it :).
The hdmi tester is on my store at www.consolefix.shop/products/consolefix-x-cmizapper-portable-hdmi-tester. The usb tester you can get from www.cmizapper.com/thecod3r.html 😀
Good stuff. It’s funny how their thermal paste from 2018 is better than what they’re using on the S and X now.
Yeah very odd. That console for sure hadn't been opened but the paste was still much softer than even a brand new series x has. Very odd
More like done on purpose!

Your workshop is sick, man!
Thank you 😊
Great video Phil! I had this exact problem last week. A new HDMI re-timer chip and it was golden!
oh dear, the ups & downs of trampoline construction
Another solid repair. Man, I felt it too when you got IPA on your blister.
Haha thanks mate, it was painful 😬
Thanks for the video. My opinion for techs not cleaning consoles, is that they could get blamed for potentially breaking something. Just fixing whatever issue is safer for them.
I really love working on the s. So simple
To dissassemble
Absolutely! Things aren't like they were with the last revision. Way too many screws and clips these days
@@TheCod3r xbox one s , simply a few screws meanwhile the ps4 has so many pieces and is a pain for someone new opening one
So much room around the Chipset too!
Great video, Phil! Quality content as always. I liked the HDMI and USB testers. Must get me one of those
Cheers mate. I sell the HDMI tester on the store, but the usb tester I don't have a deal with CMIZapper yet
The 5v line on the HDMI interface is not normally used to switch the Tv or monitor on. This is normally abbreviated as CEC.
HDMI Encoder are now soldering better than factory 🙏🏻
Let's get are "fix" on (fix of Phil) 👏👏👏👏

And he's found his flux plunger! 🙂
Yep finally 😂
Great job Phil the wizard
Great video just love when the ic chips go A.W.O.L when your tyring to solder them onto the board😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha yep it's pretty funny until it does it 5 times in a row and you start turning into the incredible hulk and get mad 😂
Great repair, Great video, and Great Shilling! Ooh la la, fancy man glove. Thank You. 😁
Haha thanks mate

Nicely done man 👍🏾

Maybe try liquid damage treatment (ultrasonic cleaner) or just some elbow grease and high purity IPA.
Looks like the nand chip is heating up funny. Normally you can see a clock heat signature on the backside when booting. This one get hot on the southbirdge side and board shuts down
Maybe an unsupported resolution/refresh rate causes the TV to dro the signal?
Always good to watch a video ftom Phil TheGing3r BTW... 🤣😂
Haha thanks mate. Yeah I think that's probably what it is. It likely sends the resolution into some weird unknown resolution but the data signals are technically still there
them trampoline springs are deadly lol
Definitely lol, worst thing is there was a pull tool in the box and I didn't see it 😂
I think it is better to check the signals with an oscilloscope on the coils to hdmi or even on an hdmi tester. just as an idea. then you know for sure if the problem is with the hdmi decoder. you are the best anyway.
Yeah you'd definitely get a more accurate diagnosis with a scope. I'm just too lazy to sort mine out from in the shed lol
My Xbox has the same problem!!! How much would you charge me to get it fixed like the one in your video ?
Good stuff mate

I can't find a link for the USB tester tongle.
I sure would like to order one of those things.
Sorry mate I forgot to post a link. It's www.cmizapper.com/thecod3r.html
@@TheCod3r thanks mate. I hope to get one of these very soon. It looks like it will answer questions....so to speak.
Iv been given a series x because it turns in then turns off its never been opened

You can get them on my online store mate. www.consolefix.shop/products/consolefix-x-cmizapper-portable-hdmi-tester
@@TheCod3r thank you :)
Means ur hdmi reader dosnt work, getting a voltage to light it own green light doesn't mean its not broken, so ur thingy is useless
A couple good doses of that IPA and that blister will not even exist!! LOL
Haha ouch it makes me cringe just thinking about it 😅
@@TheCod3r I do however think that getting it in paper cuts are worse!! 😅😅😅
where is the link to the tester USB and HDMI?

@@TheCod3rThanks mate. Really appreciate it
i have tried to replace the hdmi port on one of these, completely f###ed it up, board is ok i bent the pins, bugger
great
💯👍👍👍👍
Can someone please tell me how British folk actually SPELL Haitch DMI?? 😂😂😂
HDMI ……..
I usually spell it B R O K E N because they're usually broken when I get them 😂
Nothing wrong with promoting your own store Phil.
Yep I agree bud
