Well done today Tyler! Tim O’Malley is one of the best and was great to hear you all debate the best cornerback ever as it brought up guys from my earlier times with Todd Lyght and Bobby Taylor …. I even remember Luther Bradley.

Yes, Luther Bradley was on a National Championship team. Bobby Taylor was on the 1993 National Runners Up, and was instrumental in winning that Game of the Century vs FSU in 1993. Ben Morrison has more work to do.

I am a Long Long Time ND Fan. We had a huge win over A&M. ND MUST be focused for every game. If they get cocky they will lose to a cupcake. I've seen it before. And so have many of you. ND has a history of letting us down. I hope Marcus keeps them focused with an understanding of all the reasons we lost cupcake games in the past. I can't take a cupcake loss. I'm done! We have to" Go Go Go-Fight Fight Fight and Win Win Win"

It seems to me that Brian Kelly had an arrogance about him where he allowed his teams to overlook weaker opponents I don't see that with freeman he's humble enough to not look past anyone and always talks about the next play. Marshall wasn't a let down they just weren't that good.

Watch the press conference from the other day. Sneed summed up the teams attitude against these opponents. To paraphrase, he said that they will treat NIU as if it’s a top ranked opponent. They plan on playing fast and hitting hard. This team will focus on the prize.

Cupcake losses are inevitable. It's like expecting every single day on the weather app to be exclusively sunny 🌞. That almost never happens. You're gonna have over cast days, partially cloudy days, even rainy days. Rainy days and Mondays are quite common. You just have to enjoy each and every day to your fullest no matter the weather. Cupcakes 🧁 are like blue berries in your pancakes. They make them special. It's all about having the right attitude. Seeking perfection is a fool's game. It rarely happens. Besides if it weren't for cupckaes, Tastey Kakes would have gone out of business a long time ago. Accept the cupcake. Embrace the cupcake. Just don't make it part of your daily diet lest you become the Michelin Man.

Freeman based, Freeman influenced, Al Golden influenced and coached, Denbrock influenced & coached. The more hear the ‘we better do this & that to avoid a let down, the more I want to win this game 48-0.
Yeah the 28 & a half is a big number. And clearly the players & coChing staff shouldn’t be concerned with that number & the hook does make that tough. So if they ‘only win by 24’ is that really considered a let down game? I mean if ND is up 35-9 late, & dominated all day, but NO. Illi. Scores a fluke tuddy on one of those trick plays Tyler is petrified about, and ND covers by a lag point, is this letdown game.
It’s one of the reasons I despise the point spread, which only exists so the guys that own the casinos can continue to have nicer things than the guys who ‘hammer’ prop bets (Tyler…). I actually consider the win at College station a borderline dominant win . TAMU had EVERY Intangible possible, and ND, with 11 penalties for 99 yards won by two scores. Shut down a 5*, projected by some as a potential 1st round QB, and won by double digits. I do t want to hear anything about a let down game, even if it ends up being g so by every metric, in that scenario, I want Freeman, Denbrock & Golden to take every single criticism and own up to the fact that ‘They need to coach better’.

Recruiting good players and a wonderful coaching staff helped more. This organization put all that together. How about we trust them to conduct the games correctly huh? This is not Bob Davies, Charlie Weis, or even Brian Kelly (who really didn’t want to be here) team. This is an elite coach with the knowledge and desire to have an elite program here and its looking great. I wonder what Kelly will be thinking when ND and Markus Freeman win a natty before he does?

  • @Willie_McBride

    Here’s a question.
If A& M had won this. Would they be talking about a possible let down next week against McNeese St.? No.
If this was say Alabama who squeaked out a tough win against this same A&M team in Kyle field. & was playing Georgia Southern next week, would anyone be talking about a possible letdown??
    Not on your life.
So the semi recent past experiences with different coaches, & players should not apply. I’m kinda tired of the expectation that ND is going to struggle against significantly inferior opponents because they had a tough win last week & we have a knack for having let down games afterwards.
Enough of that. I grew up a ND fan with Ara, Devine $ Holtz ( Gerry Faust was in the middle of that & … yeah…)
This kind of anticipatory excuse making was not a thing back then. Let’s get back to that.

    • @Dimwitland
      @Dimwitland 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah, not sure this is a good analogy... I was a student, living on campus in 1987, having come to the University the same year Holz did in 1986. We were 5 and 6 under Lou Holz, for his first season - and 8 and 4 his second so I would take those years every time, knowing what would happen next, and what he would be capable of doing or nearly doing regularly. Throwing Holz out with the bathwater would have been a bad idea
And while some things (like this cast and everyone's optimism before the NIU game) don't age well, and that's a fact, I think its still a bit early, to start emptying the Bastille or shooting the Tzar in the basement. If we lose a couple more of the underwhelming match ups we have this season though, we might have more in common to talk about.
But for now, hats off to the NIU coaching staff and players. There were three head coach calibre coaches on the ND sideline last Saturday, not just Freeman - someone whose main job is managing rep, style and recruitment considering who the OCs are and his preferred management style. NIU beat all three. Period.
