for everyone who is getting answer of hw ques as -2: (CORRECT ANS: 2) 1. sum of squares of numbers (or reciprocal) cant be negative. 2. in the ques , the coefficient of x is 0, so sign change would happen with the constant term i.e. 1(= -1) now try it again, u will get the answer.

The roots of the given equation x^2 - mx + 4 = 0 lies in between [1,5] i.e., the roots lie in between 1 to 5, both inclusive, so for that reason m = 5 also satisfies the question. At m = 5, the roots would be 1 and 4.
