I've done a few engine swaps in vans, all they had to do is pull the intake off and pull the chain down tight. I would have liked to see it go offroad before they trashed it though. Almost a nice job guys!!!
In 1972 or 73 one of our local car dealers had a Winnebago Brave identical to this displayed on their lot for a couple of weeks. It had been converted and built to run the Baja 1000. It had left and right hand duel steering wheels. The thing was stripped down bare inside with a massive roll cage frame and one bunk. We rode our bikes down town every day to look at it and dream. We found it unlocked one day and snuck in when we thought no one was looking. We were crawling around on our hands and knees so we wouldn't be seen. We actually found the keys on the passenger seat. My 14 year old buddy grabbed the keys and said let's come back tonight and go for a drive. That seemed reasonable to me, after all I hard been driving my Rupp mini bike all summer on the trails, how hard could it be. Just then the door opened and one of the salesmen came in and caught us. Even though I thought we we going to prison or something, he didn't seem to care and my friend handed him the keys saying we found these. He was pretty cool and started the motor and revved it up showing off. I remember thinking you would go deaf riding in that thing for a 1000 miles. The next summer we rode our bikes to the dealership and found the same sales guy and asked him what ever happened to the jacked up Winnebago. Evidently it crashed and rolled on the 1st day of the race. LOL
Was just admiring how you unbolted parts as if you were genuinely trying to make something that ran and drove, rather just cut everything off and wreck everything like Roadkill. Then you rolled it.
I suspect they were demonetizationand the rate cuts as well thats the problem.with youtube now it doesn't pay enough to run a big channel without other income streams rhe fact print media is dying wont help either nor will being based in cali. The recent ban on work.trucks will hurt them HARD towing cars etc.
Not sure what rock you’ve been living under but I drive a 4wd Winnebago all the time. It’s called the Revel. Probably one of the hottest Winnebagos around at the moment. And yes it really does 4wd. Mine’s me on 3 wheels climbing off-road trails 😂 On a side note that video was hilarious. That Brave is a beast!
thats the funniest thing ive ever seen. thats something people in saudi arabia would do since they love 2 wheeling on the highway so much. in fact, it would probably start a whole new trend LOL
I met a guy that beat you back in the early 2000's except for HP. Old bread box motor home, Dana 60 up front, aggressive 385-65-R22.5 truck sow tires on 10 bolt Alcoa aluminum rims. The owner liked camping in the bush... in comfort.
The guy in the passenger seat is awesome great guy laughing the whole time they flip it the driver seemed startled and he just gives them a high-five making it fun again
Video would have been better with that nice engine in the dunes...really surprised they didn't go back and add a few minutes of that footage.... That's kind of why everybody was looking at the video in the first place
9:44 im not sure if anybody noticed, but everytime they lifted their foot off the gas, it was gonna untill they hit the gas again and the drive shaft's twisting turned it back onto its wheels
Thats why Winnebago designed it with that heavy generator in that right rear corner!
I had one of these all original and it felt like it was going to flip just taking a corner a little fast.
😯😯😯😯
Just started my channel where I take trucks off road and bag on em. I just want to make people laugh.
Ha ha ha ha ☺️😂 you got me lol
It looks like its gonna flip just sitting still
I effing knew it!
Was hoping to see it go off road again...
Well, I guess the tires aren't on the road anymore.
Would've been nice to watch it offloading with the new engine!
All of that buildup of a rare classic and yah flip her
freaking awesomeness!
That’s was “the people’s elbow”
These guys were on their heads b4 they left the garage... It was fate that they end up there
Darren Tylor It was all on purpose.
Ya. Kinda disappointing. I mean. You could see it coming a mile away. But man. That thing was cool complete
This is the most American thing I’ve ever seen. Keep doing the Lord’s work boys!
WOOOOO WEEE
never eard about Pamela Anderson ?
Apple Pie: am i a joke to you?
Skydive i’m pretty sure apple pie was made in France or something
Is that lord vada?

Exactly what I was thinking why not take the intake off why compromise the stability??

What a tragic ending to what could have been a great story... man I still dream of making a 75' Winnebago a 4X4, with an LS swap...
Same here. SUCH a waste. I'm still pissed about this episode a year later.
Totally! that ending made me physically angry. What a waste!
Dulcich will take that 440, guaranteed.
Hed take that tourqeflite too. Add it to the collection.. might be good, idk.
Probably put a thermoquad on it.
@@HomeGuitarMods Or rebuild the one it has on it. that thing was hurtin up that hill lol
I think the 440 engine is installed in Freiburger's Suzuki Samurai
@@HomeGuitarMods THERMOQUAD!
Motortrend: takes all their episodes off youtube
Also motortrend:
I wished they kept on putting full episodes on TH-cam
Why did they do that?
@@gogle5238 as with anything else, money

You guys' positive/happy attitudes are contagious; I love it!!!
Yay! We did a thing! Love the laughing. Pure joy!

A toaster with an LS. Shoulda put it in reverse and tried a backwards wheelie.
thats the funniest thing ive ever seen. thats something people in saudi arabia would do since they love 2 wheeling on the highway so much. in fact, it would probably start a whole new trend LOL
Like monster tucks. they figured out how to do stoppies...
This is my favorite DED episode and my favorite build
Was entertaining and fun to watch, even the burnout. Sad that y'all tipped it over.
My family had a 72/73 440 Brave 24 footer back in the late 70s. My Dad would take some serious hills in the thing when we went motor cross racing.
1:54 FUEL LINE LABELED:
"NOT FOR FUEL "
NICE !
I used to sell that fuel line. It says 'Not for fuel injection'. It's a low pressure fuel line.
I was really hoping it was going to be a one of a kind off road build..... Fun to watch, but sad to see a classic destroyed..
THAT IS AWESOME! All the build and lay that thing flat on its side! What is the future of the Brave? Pleases more Brave in the future. 😁👍🏼🙏🙏🙏
These guys have my dream job
You guys are absolutely insanely fun and nuts. Ha ha good job.
That was entertaining as heck. Thanks.
I love the fact that they haven’t even finished crashing and Fred is reaching over for a hi-five! Classic, we did a thing.
That was hilarious gents , thanks for the entertainment.
Now your ready to go adventure over landing ,Go for it Fred & Dave.
You did a real kindness with those accoutrements.
A thing of beauty. I'm only part way through, but I saw the thumbnail, and I hope you don't destroy it.
@Jeff Kopis What a waste of time and money.
I WANT THAT 440 for my 71 Cuda!!!
Winnebago man liked this video.
I like how buddy got to keep his arm at the end!
That was awesome!! Completely fun
That was epic, because those who said it cant be done!!!and the burnout, flip just awsome i saw the smiles on ur face lightup,so cool.snookie pa.
The video of the year!
Didn't stop laughing the whole ride down. That is a good f**kin time!
Him recking it made it that much cooler. That was so cool.
Hey... You scratched my parking lot!!!
Was awesome to see it roll like a flounder!!
Looks like a 101!
Man that ending was legendary
!!! The best build yet !!!
He was wearing a blue leisure suit. He was a huge, beastly, bulging man!
I was fearing that Winnie was going to flip..... BOOM‼️ Poor girl. 😥
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙌🙏
This is exactly what makes America great. USA USA USA.....
Ludicrously awesome.
This thing looks AWESOME
Absolutely epic ending boys!!!
One of the most amazing things I've ever seen.. Classic
Thats me right now, making it work! 1972 baby. 318, mine runs great! No money for 4 wheel!
Watched to the end no desire for for hot rod 4 wheel! I'll keep mine original!
Hey Fred! Loved this project! Wish I could’ve seen it when I was at your place. Steve, the AT&T guy.
That was awesome 😎
Totally epic!
Any time you've enjoyed wasting wasn't wasted.
I mostly like what you did although I'd want to STILL USE IT AS AN RV. LS engine yes. 4x4 conversion yes. Roll cage yes. Gut it and flip it...NO!
Hahah awesome love the flip
That was really awesome with a extremly funny ending.
😂😂😂I GOTTA SAY IT: IM EVEN MORE IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY NOW. THAT TIP OVER DIDN'T DO MUCH DAMAGE AT ALL.
The 4 wheel drive winnebago equals cape cod in the summer. For us locals that is!
Now this was cool!! 🚃💨
Crazy, hilarious and awesome!
Totally safe. Now let's build a ramp!
I met a guy that beat you back in the early 2000's except for HP. Old bread box motor home, Dana 60 up front, aggressive 385-65-R22.5 truck sow tires on 10 bolt Alcoa aluminum rims. The owner liked camping in the bush... in comfort.
I never thought I'd see bakers out of a 70s Winnebago Brave.
"We made it farther than the other Winnebagos."
@MotorTrend Channel please include more build footage, thats 60% of the sweetness =)
You guys tossed the 440? Were did you put it? Ill take it off your hands!
Now that’s AWESOME!!!!
Do you all ever sell or have viewers give away, it be cool to have one of you all build as a daily
Loved it!
The guy in the passenger seat is awesome great guy laughing the whole time they flip it the driver seemed startled and he just gives them a high-five making it fun again
What size ls was that motor?snookie pa.
Video would have been better with that nice engine in the dunes...really surprised they didn't go back and add a few minutes of that footage.... That's kind of why everybody was looking at the video in the first place
are you guys located in Bend?
How many cylinders was that thing running on?
take it on the rubicon next
Reminds of the RC motorhome Peter Sripol made :D
That winnie was almost as cool as your hat 💪🏼😂
Well now we know that was the last of the RV kind😂😂😂...rip RV😭😂😂😂
Love your channel, built an Ultimate Adventure rig. All the best, and Cannon Hinnant should be remembered, His Life Mattered. H.L.M.
You destroyed my dream motor home
Mine too!! It was tough watching it being destroyed after surviving all these years.
go buy one then , it ain't a dream if you aren't pursuing it
Yeah, Bag-a-wino!
Will that body fit on a bobbed duece?
best part is that they dont stop laughing even when the 3000 pound toaster flips
3000 pounds.. LOL
That'll buff out.
9:44 im not sure if anybody noticed, but everytime they lifted their foot off the gas, it was gonna untill they hit the gas again and the drive shaft's twisting turned it back onto its wheels
Take note Winnebago: this is what we want!
I can't believe you put a lot in place of a 440!
Love it!
This rig puts the "break" in breakover.
This makes my day.
That coolant that spilled out is as green as the carpet
700 HP lifted 4x4 Winnebago is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. That being said I really want one now!
bring it to a cleetus event :D
A friend of mine has built a few of these in an rc version. They are pretty cool lol
You know it's good when you, your friend, and the vehicle are all sideways laughing 😂😂
7 cylinders of sheer power...
How stupid..... Humanity definitely is on its decline.
I seen that roll bar you tried to hide inside !
